New Skin

As you can see, we've got a new style for the forums. If for some reason you do not like the style (why wouldn't you?), you can easily switch back to the old one if you have a registered account. Just go:

UserCP > Edit Options > Forum Skin and select the skin you'd like to use.		2009-01-31 03:36:00

Just a few quick points...

I noticed that the tabs above a users' public profile have disappeared with the new forum skin. Stuff like "About me"; "Statistics"; "Contact Info" and so on I can't readily see. The information is still there though when I swap to LBP Glassy. In the new view all I see are the visitors message page with no tabs to choose from.

I did notice as well that when I swapped to glassy the notification disappeared, even though I had not dismissed it. It reappeared when I swapped back.

I don't fully understand forum code language, but I thought you might want to know.		2009-01-31 03:45:00

Looks good CC, a few small tweaks and it will be perfect. One small issue that I have found that needs fixing is the user names do not fit properly in the visitors messages section, also the same ones that Elbee mentioned are definitely needed as it allows us to easily view a users stats, infractions and find their previous posts. Other than those small niggles I really like it.

It seems if you are using Internet Explorer, the tabs do not load. We are working on a fix. In the meantime, you can either put up with it, switch back to the old style, or download Firefox (I suggest getting Firefox, but I can't force you guys to use it).2009-01-31 03:53:00

Absolutely! Everything works fine. There might be some browser issues (Internet Explorer handles code in a very weird and difficult way), but there's nothing we can do except listen to you guys and try to iron them out. The only one we've seen is the profile tabs, but we're working on a fix.		2009-01-31 03:55:00

Yes, it's Internet Explorer I'm using. I can't work out the version though, but it might be slightly older than the current one, like one version behind.2009-01-31 03:56:00

Okay that's weird they are there for me now using Firefox as well but they definitely weren't when I first went to my user area.

One other thing, there doesn't seem to be any border over the top logo of the page which seems weird visually, also using a resolution of 1600 x 1200 the page layout is wider than the old skin which makes it look odd, I guess that's just a matter of getting used to it.

We've identified the bug. Internet Explorer sees the UL tag as malicious code and refuses to load it. We're trying to find a work around, but no luck yet.

That's on purpose. There's two different notifications: one promoting this new style, and one letting users know they've been automatically swapped over to this style. Users who have specified a style preference in their User CP would not be swapped over, so this is to ensure everyone is aware.		2009-01-31 04:12:00

I like brightness too, just not like.. large spaces of white.

My sig is somewhat bright, but it has black It's not like it's bright lime green on a white background ;p

The new skin is just... mostly white and covers most of the screen as opposed to the current one which only takes about 50% and has black on both sides.

I just wanted to echo these sentiments. The new skin shows a lot of promise. It makes for a nice change and keeps things looking fresh. It's slowly growing on me.

Pingin the old style is about 25% narrower than the new one and has large black borders around the page which takes away the glare from a large area of white background. Without the larger size here and smaller black borders the white background is more pronounced. CC just explained the old skin is a fixed width hence the black borders where the new style is fluid and adjusts to your desktop resolution, hence the smaller borders.		2009-01-31 04:31:00

I've set the max width to 1260 to reduce glare on wide screens. I've also set it to auto center, as it was left justifying for some reason.		2009-01-31 04:49:00

You're using Internet Explorer. Due to the horrible way IE handles certain HTML, that feature is gone for now. We're working on a fix, but it won't be for a couple of days. I suggest downloading Firefox (there's a link in the bottom right of my sig) if you want the best experience; not just here, but across the web.		2009-01-31 07:17:00

This new skin is absolutely stunning. It looks so attractive, and much better than the old one. It looks clean and tidy, I'm sure this will encourage even more people to join.

I just think that if there was a contrast slightly on the colours, it would look a little better. I'm not suggesting a rainbow here, I wouldn't want that. The slight texture which is there is appearing to much, though. I think that this pattern could be altered slightly for each. Especially for the Bookmarks and Tags, they are close to eachother and the texture looks exactly the same.

The new skin is Brilliant. It is very clean and smooth (MY KIND OF STYLE... but most of the time, that kind of style such as in cars is most expensive, i love the Bugatti Veryon, but... i am never goin to be able to get that ), one thing i would like to see... is make the icons at the bottom right of each post get a little bit for stylized. They look a little plain if you know what i mean. But other than that GREAT JOB, I look forward to more banners up in the top.

Most browsers cache images so they don't have to load each time, and sometimes you'll get one or two missing at first. Keep browsing around and do a hard refresh (ctrl F5) if needed. The problem should solve itself.		2009-01-31 19:04:00

haha yea the old skin doesnt rotate the banners
will look into implementing it

Edit: it wont look right with the specs for making the banners...

tested in firefox, I.E. and chrome....no problems with the view profile option in any on my end.
