The DreadRandal medical update:

Archive: 18 posts

Friday, November 15th, I was admitted to the hospital for severe pneumonia. (though, at the time, my options were congestive heart failure, malignant cancer or severe pneumonia, and we were unsure of which it was until three days later on Sunday.) these were the three possible causes for my condition which was about two liters of fluid surrounding my left lung.

Tuesday I underwent surgery to remove the infected fluid and they installed chest tubes to drain any excess fluid as my lung healed after surgery. I am relieved to report that my heart is fine and no cancer was found. I am being pumped with antibiotics and pain meds as I await the removal of these chest tubes.

I had one of three tubes removed on Friday. I cannot wait for them to get these other tubes out so I can get out of ICU and into a normal room where I don't need an entourage just to walk from point A to point B.

I especially miss my access to LBP2 where I was putting the finishing touched on my big project for you guys when all this started. I haven't been able to touch it for over a week and I am climbing the walls with boredom.

There is nothing to watch on TV, Facebook is not keeping my interest, though luckily there is enough activity here to keep my sanity. Well, my second cup of coffee is here (I only drink it on weekend days), so I will end this here. Thank you for the well wishes from the few of you who already knew my status.

Sorry to hear about that... And how bored you are. But at least there's no cancer and you have a good heart. <32013-11-24 14:51:00

Thanks for the update. Sorry as well about the situation. It's times like these where someone needs to get you a vita. Fight the boredom, feed the addiction.

As for your entourage, take advantage of that thing. It's times like these that you use your newfound assets to conquer the other rooms in ICU. What's that you say? Everyone else has their own private army too? Well, if you encounter someone more powerful that you, just take over all of the rooms surrounding them, making intimidation work for you. Why, with the right manuevering, you could be ruler of the entire hosital within a day. hours even.

Keep getting better.

That must have been awfully scary. I'm sure you'll be a lot more comfortable after they remove the chest tubes. I hope you have a quick recovery!2013-11-24 16:04:00

It actually was extremely serious, you don't get over this type of pneumonia with home remedies, also, the infection surrounding my lung was severe enough to require they remove the lining that surrounds it, as it also was infected. I think they call it the pleura. But I am healing now and fighting the cause of the infection with strong anti-biotics that were custom selected for the bacterial strain they isolated. Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes. It means a lot. =)

You guys are the greatest. Thank you all for your well wishes. I have more good news: my drainage tubes are out. The doctors are very pleased with the speed of my recovery and I am responding very well to the antibiotics therapy and breathing treatments, they are trying to get me home before Thanksgiving, where I will further recover through my antibiotics and with the healing of my surgical incisions.

The doctors want me to stay home all December, but even with LBP2 to keep me occupied, I will be climbing the walls, because my mom lives in an apartment on the property I rent from her, and while I love my mom, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I may just have to beg my bosses to get me a truck that has a bouncier more cushiony seat so I can get back to work faster. Time shall tell.

I am out of jail the hospital, picking up prescriptions for me on our way home.

It only felt like jail because I couldn't leave until they said I could.

When I was spending time in a hospital myself I was told to leave as soon as I could. They claim it was so I don't put myself to danger of receiving hospital-bacteria, but I think it's because I criticized their food and dessert.

Seriously, though. I am not much into fish-food in general, so having it served eight days a week doesn't sit right with me. Gladly I was given the same effing lingonberry ice-cream every effing day. It would've probably been good, had the producers not forgotten sugar from it.

Believe me, I would have left sooner, had they let me. But they had cut me open, cleaned me up and pumped me full of intravenous antibiotics, so I was pretty much at their mercy. They still have me mainlining drugs once a day, but I get to do it at home now.

My days are currently filled with pill popping, wound-dressing changing and an injection of antibiotics. My cuts are healing, and hopefully all this other weirdness is a good sign as well. I long for my life to get back to normal.

Dang DR, I had no idea you were in such bad shape. I'm so glad to read that things are finally on the upswing. I hope it wasn't the stress of the Brick Factory that caused any of this.

Take care and get well soon.
