Why was Co-Authors Removed?

Archive: 4 posts

I think I remember in the original Littlebigplanet there being Co-Authors publishing the same level. I was wondering if this was still in LBP2 because I do not see it. This is one of my problems with LBP2 because it discourages team creating. This is why some projects take a long time and certain members can get discouraged. I would take even my own project for a second as an example. Now I do have a lot of contributions from people, but there are a few guys that really did some great things for the project, and even though I give them credit, I sorta loathe not having the option to allow them to be published with the level as well.

I just really feel like a Co-Authors solution, would really encourage team building. I thought of giving the ones that really contributed could have a copied level that level links to the main level, so we can all say we had a big part in building this. But its sort of not the same. I wanted some of the other guys to get noticed more, like the music composer or those that did a lot with the scenery. Some of them have like two to ten hearts, and they are extremely talented.

What do you guys think? How do you handle crediting others when they help you with your levels?

I cannot remember such an option in any of the currently released LBP games, although there may have been a game mechanic such as this. I think it would be great having the ability to add co-creators usernames underneath the creators name on the level, which then links the user to their planet. Something to contribute would be on the co-creators planet they have a section of their levels and a other planet of levels they helped create with links.

I would prefer something like when the users selects the level there are sub headings of who created what, SomeoneA made the music, SomeoneC made the logic and the SomeoneHostingOnTheirPlanet made the visuals and camera work.

I hope we have such features in LBPHub, to encourage team creating and users becoming satisfied with the credit given by the hosting creator, I myself have helped others, which I know for a fact have not increased traffic to my planet even though my name was included in the description. I think this is because people don't really care who made it, just that it is good unless the creator is very well known. Most people I know for a fact don't read the description, as long as the name is interesting or is in capital letters and/or the picture looks COOL people will play it.

Wheres StevenI when you need him to talk to the devs of the games? Surely it can't be that difficult to implement if you know how to network a game (which still in LBP barely works correctly without a loading screen every 30 seconds if not hosting), well Media Molecule couldn't even get the level lock to work without some people being able to play.

I kinda lost my way on the last two paragraphs.

No that makes perfect sense. LBP2 is geared toward creating alone. I thought I seen the Co-Author option in the original lbp, but I could be wrong about that. I think your suggestion is exactly what I thought could work. Allowing players to be able to click on other players that are "tagged" to the level. It could work similarly to face book.

I guess this would kinda fit into the suggestions threads.

But I dunno, I look at a lot of the contest though, even on here and there was only really a few that encouraged team building. I had a lot more fun in a group, than creating solo. I just wish the community was a bit more team oriented. Maybe LittleBigPlanet hub will help with that.

Hopefully, I really do like co-creating. I dislike being alone in create mode, I lose attention to the level that I am making. Maybe a suggestion should be put in.
