[SOLVED] Impact sensor delay (bullet problems)
Archive: 5 posts
Okay so I posted a thread on this a while back but it wasn't quite answered. Here's the problem...I have a bullet made of sticker panel that has an impact sensor connected to destroyer (so when the bullet touches something it destroys) and I have a tag. But the impact sensor has a delay so I extended the sticker panel so that it has more response time. 47308 As you can see I also have a rectangle and a square. The rectangle represents cover and the square represents a player. So when they impact it it triggers a counter as an indication. I started shooting the bullets towards these. 47309 So like I said the bullets impact sensor has a delay so it sometimes goes through or penetrates the rectangle. 47310 This is bad because as you can see in this photo the rectangle AND square is impacted just after the bullet is destroyed. So what this basically means is because of the impact sensor delay, if a player was hiding behind cover they would still be getting hit by bullets even though they are covered. That's not good! Any ideas? | 2013-11-22 01:59:00 Author: airide101 Posts: 141 |
Is there a specific reason why the bullets must be made from sticker material? If not then you could try using a small piece of rubber (invisible) and glue it to your sticker material. | 2013-11-22 15:03:00 Author: fluxlasers Posts: 182 |
Is there a specific reason why the bullets must be made from sticker material? If not then you could try using a small piece of rubber (invisible) and glue it to your sticker material. If I use a physical material the player (and other moveable pieces) will be knocked back and effect movement when shot. | 2013-11-22 19:13:00 Author: airide101 Posts: 141 |
If I use a physical material the player (and other moveable pieces) will be knocked back and effect movement when shot. Actually flux, I ended up using a phisical material and it worked, as long as I set the impact sensor to "include adjacent layers", the character won't kick back from it. Don't make a delay with your bullets, I've made many bullets in the past, you can set them up to go through certain materials, via tags. So let's say bullets can go through wood, but not steel. Make a tag called "wood" and one called "steel". If you want make it so the bullet can impact only a certain amount of "wood" tagged objects before being destroyed, and so that one metal tag will destroy the bullet instantly. It's a method that does work. Just make the impact sensor require a tag, and voila! If you need a better explanation just add me or something. | 2013-11-25 03:20:00 Author: Archon453 Posts: 142 |
