Has MM said anything about the broke LBP1 levels?

Archive: 8 posts

I remember somewhere around a couple years ago I tried playing various LBP1 levels after MM took scoreboards down for that summer to fix cheated scores. Ever since then half the levels I tried to play either failed to load or freezes the PS3. This was happening to everyone on the exact same levels. Every now and then I got on LBP1 to see if MM fixed and eventually gave up trying. Now after over a year since I last tried I just got on to play some LBP1 levels I still want to clear to up my ranking, but they are still unplayable. Only some are playable. I can't believe MM hasn't fixed this with a patch to this day.

Surely more than a couple people had to of brought this to MM's attention and surely you would think they know about it. They themselves have said many still play LBP1 and it shows since I still see star ratings on a regular basis. Has MM ever said anything about the unplayable LBP1 levels? I ask because I don't keep up with LBP news like I use to when I was an active member of LBPC. If MM refuses to fix, does anyone know a way to make them playable? Does republishing them while on LBP make them playable again? Or republishing in LBP2?

EDIT: I forgot to make it clear that the levels are only unplayable when accessing them from LBP1, and LBP2 can't be used on many because many creators hide them in LBP2. Even if they were visible in LBP2 they are not beatable in LBP2 because they are pro levels, and sackboy's hitbox was made too big in LBP2 to fit through smaller hazardous openings. This is why they have to be played in LBP1. But even outside of pro community, casual LBP1 levels that people have hidden in LBP2 can only be played in LBP1, and due to many being unplayable not all can be played as a result.

Media Molecule has NOTHING TO DO with Little Big Planet anymore, they have moved onto new IP's (Just making it clear no hostility meant). So they cannot release patches, that is up to Sony now. And you posted this into the wrong forum, it should have been posted in Little Big Planet 1 forum (I've made the mistake before, an admin will likely move it in the next few days).

I have no information about fixing levels that are unplayable, it's probably in the games source that the levels are broken. So I think that deleting them and then publishing them should fix it but I doubt re-publishing it will (but what do I know?).

Ok, thanks! I am aware that MM said they are moving on and I also know LBP3 is being done by Sumo Digital I think, but I didn't know all the new packs that come out and maintenance of LBP1 and 2 were not being done by MM. However this problem started long before MM said they were moving on, and I never saw them say anything on it. That's a bummer.

Also, reason I didn't post in LBP1 forums is because there was no Help section, and not even a General Discussion section.

EDIT: Ok, weird. I just noticed a Little Big Planet 1 general forum under Other Games, which makes no sense since there is already an LBP1 section. Lol!

The Sumo Digital game turned out to be Little Big Planet Hub. Unfortunately it wasn't 3. And yes the DLC Pack were developed by Tarsier Studios, the awesome people who made us Little Big Planet PSVita (can I hear a woooooo?). Although Sumo Digital did make the Cross-Controller Pack themselves. The only DLC not to be made by Media Molecule or Tarsier Studios.

Just to note, Media Molecule said their next game will be like Little Big Planet. Let's hope if there is a create mode they fix the way people play levels, meaning copied, costume, and chillout (I disliked them the most, considering they were stupidly popular compared to the furthermore difficult levels to create such as logically advanced based levels i.e. Puzzle Games and FPS's).

The Little Big Planet 1 section is for all things LBP1, people will still look there although the game is dating and the community is technically dead of good creators that I know of. I also found that weird too, I always wondered why there was two forums for a single game on one website.

It's actually scary to hear that Mm won't be taking care of LBP anymore. Ever since they started Tearaway, they gave up LBP completely.

If there's anything I like to add to this thread, the reason why the scoreboards won't be fixed in LBP1 is because LBP1 won't be serviced anymore. Since LBP2 came out, LBP1 is dead. Therefore, if there's anything that is still broken in LBP1, it's broken forever.

The only reason LBP1 still has servers running I would think the minority of the community is active. Over time as people stop playing they'll slowly shut the servers down (probably be a goner by 2015). Same will happen to LBP2 probably around 2016, I'm sure every LBP player will have transferred to LBPHub by the end of 2014 with the very few who remain on LBP2. A few of game servers from games made 2009 and before the PS servers are down. For example, the FIFA games.

Things broken in LBP1 will remain, the same goes for LBP2 now. The only support we get now is Costumes form Sony and Level Kits from Tarsier Studios. I cannot wait for LBPHub, less glitches, new stuff (materials, objects etc...) and support from the developers fixing and updating bugs.

I know this thread is old, but I would like to say...
recently I went back to LBP1 to collect some prizes I've been missing, and I noticed there are A LOT more people actively playing LBP1 lately than LBP2. Almost every story level has over 30 people playing it, while in LBP2 you're lucky if there is 5 or 10 people in any given level. Also, someone I know recently published a level playable in LBP1 and LBP2. It got 1000 players in LBP2 and over 60,000 players in LBP1 in the same time period....

So...I really think they should still support LBP1...

I don't know, the star wars Battlefront 2 servers are still up for the ps2... im intetested in lbp hub but at the same time tentative. Apparently people on lbphub can only play certain levels and then mm picks. Im not sure how that all fits in.
