Invisible material that reacts to motors?

Archive: 10 posts

So I am creating a Giant statue that can move most of its limbs for sackboy to drive over..
I just finished the hands and tried to attach a force field over the fingers so if the fingers move, the force field makes sure sackboy doesn't fall trough the gap between the fingers..
sadly force fields do not react to the motors, so when the fingers move.. the force field stays at its initial location.
(this makes me a sad panda)

is there any other way to acquire a decent invisible material that does move when attached to a motor?

here is the hand in question:

you must proceed in this order: put a force field under the hand. Group it with the hand. Then put a motor on the force field.. Normaly, the force field and the hand will move together
If you do it in an other order it won't work because it will undo one or many of the motor

PS: nice hand; can't wait to see what's next

thanks, so stupid i didn't notice, because I was actually doing that when I added details to the hand.
Got it working properly now

Here is the progress so far:
(Needs loads of tweaking, and additional shoulder/wrist movement)

I doubt I will get it to work properly with bots and what not.. would be great, but it'll prolly end up a broken level.. *fingers crossed*

Thanks guys, here is the progress of today.
Sorry for the shakey camera, but moving a controller and holding a smartphone is quite tedious.

Redid the arms to be shorter, and more joints at the wrists, elbows and shoulder.
You can see a bit of how the hinges and pistons are set up as well

The timing, and the sync option on the motor2013-11-14 02:04:00

Timing could be done trough logic.

If you increase Sync by one second, the motor (piston, hinge etc) will start one second later than a motor that has a sync time of 0 (zero) seconds.

I am atm not sure if logic overwrites sync time, haven't tried that yet but I rather "sync" everything trough logic than count on the sync setting in a motor.

Tomorrow I will probably set up the logic so it is all controllable trough a "master" piece of logic.
