https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Id_Hwmp-LKc/UkD1mG9V4YI/AAAAAAAAEtU/V9fhUad8NOw/s500/124.png Welcome to another Episode of the Community Spotlight. The Vita and Karting showcases have been a little quiet but there are still some honourable mentions that are more than worth a look and we have some truly awesome LBP2 levels for you to get stuck into. So if you’re still in the mood for a little Halloween fun or fancy trying your hand at some of the very best platforming and topdown shooter action LBP has to offer get queuing these levels. Just a note to say that, in the interests of fairness, any LBPC Eye Candy levels that have been posted in the Showcase won’t be considered by the Spotlight Crew until after the results of the Contest have been announced (too many contest judges also wearing judges hats...and very fetching they look too, especially bio… ) Without further ado, on with the Spotlight: http://i45.tinypic.com/2eutxj9.png http://i3.lbp.me/img/bl/2135f8bc46639c4f99e56a4641c2365518d29342.pngTwo Sides Of An Axe [2P]JujuponJack's getting too old to run the lumber factory! Better get used to the various parts of the factory quickly because Jack's not very patient! ---- Co-created with: @Nexus_Prime73, & @dolphins-R-lame. Music: @nk827, @comishguy67, @Festerd_Jester, @MastaBlastya, & Myself. --- Thanks to everyone who playtested and helped out. Respawn with ▲ I'm ashamed to say this was sitting in my queue for way too long. I finally sat down to play it and then realized, "No, it's co-op!" With no one to go along with (slow internet) I looked over to see one of my 7 year olds admiring the purple in the badge. I said to her, "you want to help daddy play this level?" "Yeah yeah yeah" was the response. I gave her the other controller and off we went. What happened next was pure hilarity. We were presented with two characters, one small and nimble who as the ability to jump and grab and one who is quite large and can't jump at all, but he can throw. I was the larger fellow and my daughter the small one. Now, my kiddo doesn't have a great deal of experience with LBP so she still finds certain easy mechanics challenging, such as jumping down from a ledge. We were stuck at the very beginning for around five minutes because of this. It also didn't help that we were both laughing so hard that neither of us could move! It took us quite a while to complete this level because of all the giggling and laughing...from both of us! She took great joy in "accidentally" making me fall in the fire or watching me get squished, but in the end we survived and passed our test! I loved that the puzzles and platforming were fun, original, and a wee bit challenging...for two giggling hyenas anyway. Awesome level that you MUST play. Two Whoa's from us!Lol, the people I played this with may not have been seven (or at least I think they’re a bit older than that…) and my playing skills do just about stretch to jumping forwards off a ledge but there was still an awful lot of giggling (mostly from me) and dying (possibly also mostly by me ) involved in our play-throughs. The central idea of having players with differing abilities is a cool one and Jujupon uses it to good effect in some interesting and well-designed co-op obstacles. What really lifted the level, though, was the way he went the extra mile with the backstory and setting. There are some really nice touches there, such as a charming photo album at the end showing the players' journey. Having a co-op boss fight was also a very cool addition. They're not very common and it worked well, even if I did end up hampering more than helping! All round this is a beautifully put together level and one which you’ll have a lot of fun playing with friends…or, even better, fellow hyenas! http://i4.lbp.me/img/bl/5d4d1ebd2de341c2b878a631bfa9fe72320b4c6b.pngHaus of MulberryRainbowT-Rex[1player designed] [(Music) Meow by: @Breezy-the-Pro] [Hint: Let the level move you] ----- A palette composed by the contrast between the Abstract tones of Purple & the warm tones of Wood. Run, Jump, Grab, Bounce! The Haus of Mulberry entertainment should provide... ---- Thanks to everyone that dropped in & help me on this level, specially @Dolphins-R-Lame & @xZombieKing1999x. LittleBigNetwork Pick on Hub #22 Short and sweet, just the way I like them. This level is an absolute feast for the eyes. I loved the overall design of the level and how well the colors and materials just seamlessly blended together to create a masterpiece. As good as the visuals are, the gameplay is even better. Contraptions, Contraptions, Contraptions. There are loads of them! And they are all really cool. I loved the platforming here and really enjoyed smooth transitions from area to area. Too much fun to be had here guys! Too much fun? That's impossible! Play it.Oh wow. What a beautiful artistic world. A clear theme flows through everything in this well laid out level; tight platforming with some very clever contraptions and surprising bouncy pads with death defying leaps and deft button pressing all with a tasteful purple accent and an economy of materials. This level really shows what can be done with just a few core elements when tied to careful planning, testing and thought. I really was impressed with the entire journey!Funky. ok I seriously can't just start and end my review with just the word "funky" can I? I can, but I won't or will I? Well here is why this level deserves more then just this review let alone a 1 word review, such as funky. It deserves your play and you will not regret that, my word is my bond or some other weird Braveheart quote or something. Especially if you enjoy bouncy platforming, heaping with funky contraptions, while jamming away at a funky song. This style is so full of potential and creators like Rainbow are just the type of creator to where it just seems natural. Well done, Bravo, and insert 7 other congratulatory phrases here cause you definetly deserver em for sharing with us this level that is fabulously funky. http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/ed838a719495ef002290f6fbf41c269cb3203dd8.pngTechno logicladylyn1Back in the ages when robots roamed LittleBigPlanet, one machine strove to rule them all. Enter the robot factory and discover the secrets for yourself! Created with the help of: Holguin86, I-Snow-I and hamorgan. A speical thanks to weirdybeardy and Buddydestruction for the music. Complete to win Atlas the robot. I honestly can't believe that this is the first platformer I played created by this talented creator. After playing through until the end, it got me thinking of the origins of LittleBigPlanet and oh man if this was the past of the imagisphere my mind would be blown. I'm going to take a couple of steps back here and describe this rock on blasting experience in one sentence. Mysteriously awesome kick off in the beginning, dark technical theme with robotic platforming, creative and massively impressive game play ideas which made me say to myself "how the heck did I not think of this, this is genius!", one epic boss fight executed differently than any other boss battle I have seen across any level, and one twisted ending that totally caught me of guard and was a nice touch to the whole cake altogether. How was that for a one sentence description? Too many commas? Well, no matter how I wrote that sentence, it was structured well with descriptive detail with an intention of prepping you for an awesome experience. An experience just as awesome as that sentence. And a silent whoa echoed throughout the craft-verse. I played most of this in complete silence as I was that entranced with the atmosphere and how the subject matter was presented. There were even a couple of moments where I just sat the controller down and started in disbelief. This level has some of the best and coolest robots around. There is this one, a bi-pedal automaton, that I swore was a part of the background that game with the game! Yeah, dropped my controller right on the floor on that one. There's more too! The gameplay is absolutely fun and engaging with a good deal many of unique platforming elements that you just have to see. Trust me, you have to see this level.Well once again these guys have said everything for me (note to self: try to write your reviews earlier so you don’t always end up in the dreaded third review slot ). This level is soooo cool, though, that I couldn’t let it pass without saying something. It’s one of those levels where everything, story, setting and gameplay, just comes together beautifully so that you get completely sucked in and absorbed. The atmosphere is wonderfully done: great lighting, sound effects and music. I love the shifts in tone, from the quietly uncanny opening moments to the drama of the huge robots glowing in the vast darkness of the factory and then the tension of the final boss fight. It all adds up to a very powerful whole and the plot twist at the end maintains the excitement so that the level goes out with a bang and not a whimper. An amazing, shivers down the spine kind of a level. http://i1.lbp.me/img/bl/cd15b966e2945e35fd90646b08ddecbf780f00f2.pngAlley of Hollowsjauw2Welcome to the Alley of Hollows. This level is packed with scary pumpkins and cool contraptions, inspired by: Nightmare Before Christmas. So put on your favorite Halloween costume, cause this level fits everything! ----- LBPCentral - LBNetwork - LBReports - GC ---- 1 Player recommended - Happy Halloween! Um, I'm playing this right now as I type this. This is my second time through because the first run, I missed a ton of stuff! Good gracious but this level is gorgeous! I mean WOW er Whoa! Now, I'm not really all that fond of Halloween levels, as previously stated, but geez, this thing is awesome. The gameplay is so fun and engaging and at the same time frustrating. Jauw has done a tremendous job of having the player backtrack on certain paths and then displaying a bunch of score bubbles and if the player doesn't react fast enough, those score bubbles are out of reach..for good. I love it! There are just so many platforming elements to this level, you WILL NOT see them all with just one play through. Now, if you'll excuse, I have to get back to playing this awesome level. Sometimes I get scared when playing levels like this. Yes, it is a spooky atmospheric well laid out platformer with some great timing based challenging jumps and tricky sections to navigate, but that’s not what scares me. What scares me is how quality levels like this exist. Its utterly horrifying to load into a level and be whisked away to such an amazing experience and think… wait… this was made by a user? NOT the game makers!? A really great blend of awesome spooky visuals and nifty platforming make this a Halloween level you won’t want to miss. Follow the suitably tortuous and spike-filled path through this level and try not to miss any of those tantalisingly placed bubble stashes. Jauw has done a great job at capturing that scary but jolly Halloween atmosphere. It looks wonderful and I actually jumped out of my skin in one or two places when a ghost appeared with a bang. There are some great bubble combos to string together (provided the spikes don’t get you first… and it’s a cool level to play with friends. Ideal Halloween fare – evil and fun all at the same time. http://if.lbp.me/img/bl/95fc15223a329bc8389fbc827aaaf1ea085fcf4e.pngThis is HalloweenmissyhifiBoys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange? Come with us and you will see... -:-:- This is Halloween, this is Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! -:-:- Platformer 1-4 Players / Cinematic Intro (length: 100s, skippable) -:-:- difficulty easy-medium -:-:- To increase your score, watch out for the hidden score bubbles -:-:- Many thanks @Festerd_Jester for supporting this project with the amazing pumpkin soundtrack -:-:- HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2013! Just when Halloween is over and all the candy is gone from existence in my neighborhood, the full moon still shines upon the world of littlebigplanet with yet another fun Halloween Platformer that carries this event's tradition even after it passes. All the awesome game play has been coated with a creative halloween makeover and the decorations keeps our trick or treating spirits flying a bit further into the month of November.Topped with a nice music soundtrack that fits the tone and theme of the level, the sights or skeletons, pumpkins and many other spooky assets never gets boring to my eyes. This is Halloween, indeed, even after it is over. There is no excuse to skip this sweet adventure- make everyday Halloween day.Man! Here is a spooky level full of a ton of tricks and plenty of treats as well. Here you will find a great deal of unique ideas that will make you go, "What!? That is so dang cool!" I don't recall seeing so many skeletons used in so many different ways in a level before. We've got skeletons coming out of walls, throwing platforms around, giving you a lift to higher ground and generally giving you a fright. And then there's ghost flying all around the place too! A really fun level that will make you wish Halloween was here again! Missi Hifi did 2 things right here. #1 she got help from festerd_jester recreate flawlessly "This is Halloween" and #2 she made want to hug my tv, I didn't, but I wanted to, cause I am so jelly over this level, but in a good way. I work endlessly in create because of inspirational spooky levels like this one. I love Halloween levels and I look forward to adding this to my list of levels to play year round. I give kudos to missi cause I know whenever I load this bone chilling romp I will get a great adventure that covers so many different themes, lets see here, you start off in a creepy dungeon filled with skeletal remains and sack chopping platforming, then you make your way up a floor to the living/Kitchen/Bath room. This house is well, how can I say this? If I was house shopping and if I would to walk in this particular house I would hopefully be able to walk out with the nerves still intact, but I'm not looking to buy a home, I am just looking to have a spooktacular time, which I most shakingly did, thx to Missi Hifi. ok I am getting off-track, onto the next floor, which I will let you discover on your own, cough cough it's the most scariest place in the house :$ Protip: Collecting Hidden bubbles raises your score. http://i6.lbp.me/img/bl/12671caa0b525a8d8e19952c6a200df91a4e74d9.pngAlien Infestation Facilityretrogamer7Mission Code Name (A.I.F) Time is running out. The Nuclear Bomb is ticking & our fate is in your hands. Make your way through the facility destroying any hostiles on route. Follow your R7 Unit it will interact with the environment & help you. Keep your eyes open for lost intel throughout the facility. You have 5 hi tech weapons & 2 proton grenades at your disposal. Be AWARE your weapons system will encounter some problems in certain areas of the facility. Good luck to you & HAPPY GAMING Oh. My. Goodness. Becky look at....Hey, uh, er wrong song there bio. I mean um, WHOA! I have just been witness to one of the most unique top down shooters you will ever see on LittleBigPlanet, ever! Well, let me back up a second before getting into gameplay. The "Whoa Factor" occurred right at the start. The level menu is unbelievably slick looking! Once you get past the menu, it's pretty intense as you fight your way through this facility in the hopes of reaching the bomb in time. I didn't quite make it, but that's just because I suck at these. I guess I get too distracted easily. I'm too busy staring at the eye candy and in the meantime, horde upon horde of enemy creatures are tearing me apart! If you guys haven't seen a Retrogamer level yet, you are missing out. This guy makes some of THE coolest effects on LBP and I don't even have a clue as to how he does it. So go ahead, get in there soldier and save the world! Just try and maintain focus.I have not played a top-down shooter in a while and I kind of regret it. I was really pleased to play this shooter by retrogamers because it helped me feel the excitement and top-down shooter energy (I do not know what to call that feeling but it feels like I have power over 9000). I'm going to start with the weapons you get to use, you have 5 different type of weapons to fit your shooting style so you can feel comfortable than being forced to only one weapon you may not admire. You also got two grenades which come in handy when you are in a situation where there are a lot of monsters coming at you and you need to find your way out of that danger zone.Along with the R7 unit being your little buddy interacting with the field around you as you pew those monsters down, there is a lot of action packed fun that can be found in this top-down like no other. http://i6.lbp.me/img/bl/f76e4469384b7bcafee6661f8073a663fa6dee5d.pngHelp Yourself!MnniskaBlanket thought he was going to have a chill day atop the highest mountain in Cloth - how wrong he was! ~~~~ ONLY ONE PLAYER! [at the moment!] Created in a total of 24 hours! This level requires thinking and stuff, so you better watch out! There WILL be bugs, lemme know of them! A new Mnniska level? Hot Dog! Jumping in this level I find myself in a co-op level, only, I'm co-oping with myself? Awesome! This is a classic Mnniska level if ever I've seen one. The characters have a neat whimsical feel to them, as does the entire level. The story here is that once again sackthing is asked to help find something that the character has lost, only this time sackthing, or "blanket" has had enough and refuses to help. He's outta here! Well not so fast Sackthing, it looks like you'll be helping after all. You'll be given a creatinator that shoots a clone of yourself and will mimic your every move. You'll use this clone to puzzle your way through to the end and hopefully rack up a ton of points too. This is one you do not want to skip out on. Give it a try, you'll love it.Ok… So I’m… I’m… I’m not too sure what I was just playing there. There was a wise cracking blanket that didn’t want to find a hat a creationator that shot myself … Oh and it was made in 24 hours? My mind shut down to some extent. I do remember there was some cool platforming puzzles and it was all very colourful and distracting amusing and very fun!Levels by Mnniska are usually a breath of fresh air and this one again refreshes the parts other beers, erm, levels cannot reach. From the opening moments when we meet Blanket atop his mountain for the first time and he tries to rebel against a classic LBP clich?, the tone is set. And, whoooosh, you’re off on a journey full of quirkiness and fun. It’s astonishing that this level was put together in just 24 hours and perhaps that’s what gives it its energy and vibrancy. At any rate it’s certainly packed with clever and fun gameplay, which will have you puzzling your way through a series of obstacles, ably assisted by…yourself! I had a blast playing it, only marred by a slight tendency on my part to spam r1 at critical moments, thus ruining everything! It’s a wonderful level, full of colour, creativity and passion and, to echo one of the in-game reviews, it proves once again how much better a place Craftworld is for having Mnniska in it! Great bunch of levels! I don't play games much anymore, but I had a BLAST this last week with these! "Technologic" and "Help Yourself" were fantastic especially. Also, "Alien Infestation Facility" was amazing - gets better and better with each play though. Take my word for it - it's worth finishing! | 2013-11-11 17:46:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Lol, sadly this is not unprecedented generosity on our part. The nods from a previous Episode are actually in there by mistake! So I hope you enjoy any extra plays it may bring but we'll be removing them shortly to give the new nods a fair chance. Sorry! Still, very nice to be called a sweetheart | 2013-11-12 08:29:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
For anyone who have played the Hub you will probably have noticed that the Nodinator did not emit all levels, and sometimes not even any levels. This bug has been fixed and I'm sorry for anyone who played the Hub before the update. Main spotlight reviews has also been added. Sorry for a quite rushed Hub Episode, this will hopefully not happen again... Also: Thank you for spotlighting my level! <3 -- Jauw | 2013-11-12 16:07:00 Author: Jauw Posts: 484 |
