Team Picks and Cool New Levels

Any advice on getting team picked? Are there any stipulations? Some of the team picks and cool new levels are super random and sub par. They also never really change. I would like to have one of my levels pop up to vote on in between online matches. So far I've had to fish for people online for plays. Any tips?

Make good threads with images, preferable a youtube movie.
Get a twitter account and follow many lbp and lbpk people.
Hope that they like your work and you as a person on twitter so they will follow you.
increases chance of your level being played.

I think you did what you had to do: advertising your level on the official promotional portal. Problem is that i'm not sure that UFG still team picks some level. It's been nearly 4 month they didn't do anything.

There's been no Team Picks at all for 6 month right now (february). And before that, there's been no team picks levels since 5 month (octobre).
It's a shame
Any idea, how to force and contrain UFG (or whoever is responsible for this game) from team picking some new level?
Because there is a lot of good levels, and it's too bad that people doesn't know them at all.

Could they hand over the reigns over responsibility to someone who is passionate about LBP: Karting?

I'm sure StevenI is busy as heck with planning the promotion of LBP3 whilst juggling current LBP2 responsiblity - delegate it to someone who cares!

Hire me, heck I'd do it for free but I'd not have the time to give the task the TLC it needs if I only had my spare time to do it in.

I'm with you Maxx, there's been so many superb levels published and, sorry in advance to the creator, the most recent team pick has so many glaringly obvious faults with respawn issues, track boundry problems etc..... I was under the impression a team pick needed to be flawless.

This needs a dedicated team of LBPK enthusiasts to push this on. I absolutely love this game but it's just been brushed under the carpet like LBP's sick cousin. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy LBP too but feel the scope of LBPK has never been fully utilised or for that matter, supported.

There is much untapped potential in LBP Karting - no doubt!

What it takes is the Community to push the boundaries and share all that unlocked potential. When Karting gets no "official" love & was essentailly abandoned - the Community walked away too.

You're right - as it is now we, who are still very interested in LBP: Karting, are "The Community".

Organizing levels to spotlight and focus on supporting the game has to be done by "The Community". Can we start a mailing list (through this forum) of those of us who are willing to devote the time & effort for organizing? I have an idea.

You're right and much more in touch with what is being created by SackFolk for LBP Karting than I am.

What I meant specifically by the community that is not involved in LBP Karting (without naming specific names) - creators who excelled at Logic and tweaks that pushed the boundaries of what LBP2 could do. Some of those Sackfolk even went on to get jobs making the LBP Vita version solely because they were so good, so dedicated, at tweaking the game.

I'm on twitter. I could tweet him this link or copy and paste the suggested levels. Karting deserves the same attention as lbp2. I say we start there and tweet (more than one person) are commitment and enthusiasm for karting. We each play every day and have a passion for this game. That alone is worth something. If Steven1 can help I will tweet everyday until karting is treated like lbp2.

Maybe instead of sending a link or list you should 'tweet' about an update. that allows more random access to all created levels. good or bad, you'll be on the list eventually kind of thing. There are hundreds of thosands of levels but we are stuck voting on very few, it's kind of disappointing... If I wanted to play Mario Kart levels, I'd play Mario kart. How many different "rainbow roads' can you play before they get boring? Also, they should have a "multiple upload of the same level" ban. So many times have I seen 10 copies of the same level (in the new level section). Sorry but I'm not going to "load more" 8x's, just to find a new level.

Understand your comments, however you are specifically talking about the spammers after quick trophies. I agree, there should have been a ban on multiple uploads. We don't have that, and you won't stop them. I suggested some time ago that 'serious' creators should always put 'artistic' and/or 'cinematics' tags on their levels when publishing. Then when YOU go to find new levels, just filter by that tag.

Tweeting UFG an StevenI a link to a list of good levels from the community is the only thing i can do to let them know, that there is still people playing this game, people who want more team picks level.
Maybe if several people send the same listlink, they would pay some attention.

United Front Games recently answered me that they didn't manage servers anymore, sony does. So I have to contact Sony. Does anybody have an Idea who exactly i have to contact by twitter (sony is a bit... big)?

By the way, if this levels are not Team picks (what is probable) it can be usefull for peope who are still playing this game. So i'll soon update the list with some recommendations i made and some recent levels from the showcase. Let me know what you want to see.

Although spotlighted by the LBPC crew, it's clear from the number of plays I'm getting on my hard built levels that no one is really interested anymore. I'll continue to create, publish levels, help out if possible but I'm not after any accolades like being team picked.

My last three levels took an average of 150hrs each to build. There's no appreciation of that from some of the reviews I've received recently (which I've deleted), so I'm reworking some of my old levels with new logic, weapons and such. All of those levels were well received but lacked finesse, in my own opinion.

It's not about "accolades like being team picked". I don't run after neither. It is just that most of the people who plays the games don't read this forum and have no idea about the "spotlight". This is the reason why, being spotlighted is not enough to get more play. Level, and specially good level, have to be team picks. This is the reason why i try to struggle to make Sony update them. Maybe i'm dreaming, but who knows?

There's a LBPC sticker you can use. Some creators put it in their levels to let people know.

1 option that hasn't been looked at is a protest campaign which we could all participate in. We could all decide to upload daily "NEW TEAM PICKS" OR "NEW TRACKS ON ROTATION". How does everyone feel about this ? It would be like spamming our own community, which i'm sure we'd all find a little distasteful but at least it would get the message across sooner or later. Half my hearted tracks are NOT team picks or on rotation, it's shamEful to have so much energy and time NOT recognized by Sony(whilst some of the rotation tracks are clearly NOT 200 hour plus levels). It's also extremely boring not having new tracks on rotation. I used to play F-Zero X on the 64 everyday, because of the random track generator. Now we have real people putting love into new tracks yet no one gets to even see these levels ! IF SONY WILL NOT SUPPORT LBPK THEN I DON'T SEE HOW I CAN SUPPORT SONY.

I had a similar idea (or maybe it's the same, not entirely sure I understand what you mean) of making a level that's not a level but just has text links in it showcasing the latest and greatest creations.

For instance, you start the level but it would just bring up say 10 of the best levels, possibly chosen from the Spotlighted levels here on LBPCentral, in text format and stating these were 'handpicked by the LBPK Community' or suchlike.

That's what I did with my special "recommendations " thread (will update it soon). But only members of the forum play them because, like I said, most of the people who plays this game don't read this forum and only play online levels. This is the reason why "team picks " is a necessity to get more plays. UFG answered me that they didn't manage the servers anymore. I don't know exactly who contacting by Sony, so far I had no answer from them, but i think that might be because of my bad English.

My suggestion would get more people within the game playing the best levels I think. It's obvious that Sony won't get involved in my opinion, so why shouldn't we just create our own Top Ten each month?

I'll do it if you like, I'm on here and/or LBPK most days. Just give me the suggestions of your current favourite levels.

I'll make it copyable so we can all put a copy on. Not exactly spamming and it means we all only use up one level space to upload. Sound reasonable?

Then each month we decide whether to change them or just rotate some new ones in. Unpublish the previous one, publish the new and again all of us copy it and publish it.

Hope that all makes sense.

Also need thoughts on the Level Name to try to catch as many text searches as possible.

I like this idea of posting a best of selected by us, but the effects will be minimal i fear. The whole point of the protest method is to embarrass sony into sorting out new(and then regular)team picks and rotation tracks. How we do this is we agree on a message in the write up of the track, we then call the track "new team picks" and perhaps make a nice "new team picks" banner or poster to place as the track photo. We make the track copyable, and then continuously upload this track daily making sure it is always at the top of the latest "new tracks section". Anyone uploading a new track and not knowing about the protest can be notified what is going on. We could do this until sony gives in....... then we could implement the other idea, team picks by us.
I agree it's not the nicest way to do this(we all hate spam) but it's only temporary until we get sony out of bed. It's the best chance of getting some action ,if all other methods have failed.
I might also point out that it would be nice to see some support from the people who WERE team picked, and now have their 50,000 plays and don't feel the need to contribute anything back to lbpk, and always seem to be missing from these online discussions.
I've seen they are happy to complain about the situation but are absent when they are needed.

I now understand where you're coming from. The only issue I perceive is that Sony will never look at LBPK again, so it becomes kind of pointless.

I am the eternal optimist BUT on this I think we have to be realists and make the best use of the listing system we have in game.

I am all for any of these ideas. I play LBPK all the time. People are playing quick play but not discovering any other levels other than the unaltered Team Picks. I continue to use my resources to self promote the game but I find that the best response I get is from this forum. We need to get more people viewing these threads. The main creators are all here on the forum. I'm going to keep racing, keep creating, and keep encouraging others to create new levels.

Well i'm all set to make a "New team picks" track and banner for us to spam load, but i want the support of at least 10 other players too, in written form here.
I also refuse to be the only person to upload the track, everyone needs to check daily that the top 10 new tracks on LBPK are the "new team picks" track. And if that's not the case to upload "new team picks" until it is.

I'm still unsure what will be achieved by this. If the idea is to get more people playing the best levels then surely just filling the 'newest levels' section up with Spam levels will only have the opposite effect. It would for me.

To summarise, if we were to implement this plan......

(A) The people we're trying to highlight our protest to (Sony) don't look at LBPK anymore so the only people we're going to annoy are the very people we want on our side.

(B) This would require each participant to load numerous levels, personally I have only 1 space left on 'my earth'.

(C) There aren't 10 creators who regularly post on this forum

Sounds like I'm trying to shoot this idea down, but quite the opposite. I think it's a great idea in principle, but needs more thought as to how to best 'advertise' the levels. A protest is fine but if all it does is alienate Sackfolk further then what have we gained?

Ok fine. But you know for a fact most people are too lazy to ever hit more than that "quick play " button. I spent 400 hours on my track last year. I know for a fact it's better than any of the tracks that were made by the developers themselves. Yet i don't even have 10 plays ! I need 1000 plays minimum for such a huge amount of time spent. Having a track on rotation is the only way to get those plays.

SO I QUIT. I QUIT MAKING PRODUCT FOR COMPANIES WHO COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO BUY AND USE THE SOFTWARE THEY SELL.

I'll still put LBPK on from time to time. Support other creators...... but i've had enough. BYE.

I agree with Scorpio, i' m just not sure that spamming will make people playing levels we recommend in it.
The only possibility is that we spam Sony, by mail, email, twitter, Facebook or anything else, until we get at least an answer from them.
If we find out exactly who we have to contact, and send them a message in an understandable langage ( it means, not my bad English), maybe we'll get an explanation, and may be more.
