Hey everyone,

I'm sure many of you are struggling with "creators block" or something similar. When I'm in lack of ideas, I usually search on the internet. One site that is great for game ideas is MOD DB also know as Mods For Games DataBase. This is a website where people can submit their ideas, work in progress or even whole games - to the public, people can then test it or buy it, or just leave a friendly comment.

"This is all interesting and stuff, but what does this have to do with LittleBigPlanet?" You might ask. Well frankly we could all use a little inspiration, especially new and fresh ideas instead of the same old jump and grab platformer... This website is packed with tons of new game ideas, only the sky is the limit.

Now if you go to the website, there will be a menu bar at the top of the screen with different platforms (PC, PS3 etc.) Beneath that is a helpful sub-menu that allows you to dig deeper into this glimpse of endless possibilities. Now, you want to hit that "Forum" button almost in the end of the sub-menu. This button click, will redirect you to a massive shelf of incredible game/level ideas. Most of the ideas are thought of as an entire game, but that's not a bad thing. You only need a tiny, tiny spark to ignite your inspiration-center.

On this forum, you will able to browse through many different categories, I usually go for the "Ideas & Concepts" category as that is the most common one for concepts in general, and not only entire games. You can also click on the "Level Design" category which mainly consists of large games and 3D modelling. If you're lucky you can find some quite interesting topics: http://www.moddb.com/forum/thread/2d-level-design-any-tips

Some of the topics may include photos, these are quite important when looking for inspiration.

If you have no luck so far, then try the Articles at the front page, here you can find magnificent and in-depth topics that will keep you interested. Hope that you'll check out this awesome website.

Thanks!

While I could see this helping with some core design and gameplay, I get my conceptual and visual inspiration from outside the videogaming world.

I also ask myself "what do I not see out there that I would like to play?" Which led me to most of my projects currently under development. I will check that site out, though, as platforming gameplay plotting is my weak point. (which is why most of my projects are not platformers)

Thanks for the tip.
