Playing again on someone improved levels.

Archive: 7 posts

I am a creator who will take feedback and comment seriously and rebuilt my game. However, I notice that most people will not
re-play the improved level. This is because I seen drop in the visiting of my level, even though I posted on new updates on my forum.

The link to my level:

I might be wrong, but we should hear from majority voices.

Thank you for reading and take care guys.

i never played it in the first place but i queued it for later.

in regards to replays, it could be for a number of reasons.

1.) this may sound harsh, but maybe some felt that even with improvements, it may not get past that bar of quality to deem it as a replayable.

2.) people disregard reading the thread, be it that they have already played it and dont know it was upgraded, i didnt look, but did u update the thread title, with something like this, (xxxxx, updated based off your responses on 10/28/2013 (new and improved, come check out the updates)? this may help draw some former folks who have already visited your thread, it will signal to them. you must ask yourself this simple question: "how many times per week do I revisit a thread once i have been there and either replied in said message or not?"

3.) attention spans of individuals have hit record lows and to make a level, especially a platformer be highly replayable is tough

thats all i got for now..

yeah i agree with L-I-M-I, its hard enough to get people to replay a really fantastic level, so if you expect them to leave constructive feedback and come back to check if you have updated the game thats wishful thinking Im afraid. Maybe once you have a good reputation for creating quality levels, then people will be more interested in replaying your level and following your threads more carefully2013-10-29 02:14:00

Thanks for posting, guys! I values all the points!
Those valuable points which highlighted will be jotted into my notebook.

Few important points which I learn:
1) Update the thread topic as "updated on which date" this will draw the interested player to replay my level. (Erm.. How do I do that?)

2) It takes time to be reputable creators. By creating more quality levels, people will start to recognise my work,
and they will be most likely to return to my rebuilt level.

3) Replayability of the game - I should consider this factor really hard. How to get people to enjoy my game, and would add my game into their list so that they will keep playing them... For platforming game, it will be tough. I might consider other genre which has high Replayability.

replayabiltiy is something some may consider, for instance i don't create for replayability, if it happens it happens. some tips to make platformers replayability factor higher:

score challenge - get it known to members who love having top score - chain bubble/survival/ tower of whoop style level

time challenge - some people love having fastest time - compher mc's roller inc is an example

flow and fun factor are high - self explanable

multiplayer friendly - if its multiplayer friendly and fun as a group, one person might come back and now with more people to show the level to em or have fun with them. now one of those members will remember how fun it was to play with friends and will possibly think of your level when playing with friends and searching for a group friendly level.

hope this helps

Yeah you are right that maybe pure platformers dont promise very much replayability, adding a score challenge element might help. If you begin to create other genres of levels, such as story driven levels or rpg type then there is a real incentive for users to come and play again in case they missed something. Adding multiple endings or storylines can be effective, even just adding different routes that the player can take will add replayability to a somple platforming level.2013-10-29 20:23:00

Thank you for sharing so much ideas..
Things like score challenge, time challenge or multiple routes and endings are good suggestions.
I will take note on my next creation.
