Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami's a bit old now, granted, but having just bought and finished the game for my Vita, I feel the need to make a thread on it. Hotline Miami is a top-down shooter that plays quite like a puzzle game. It does an astonishingly well job when it comes to gameplay, and this, plus the atmosphere (the game takes place in 1989) and the wonderful soundtrack make Hotline Miami one of my favorite indies of all time. Just look at these screens, for heaven's sake. http://www.sidequesting.com/wp-content/uploads/HLM-PS-Screen-1.jpg http://image.gamespotcdn.net/gamespot/images/2013/175/704459_20130625_screen002.jpg While it is worth noting that I didn't include screenshots of true gameplay (the game is quite violent), those screens show off the atmosphere pretty well. So, has anybody here played Hotline Miami? If so, what do you think about it? | 2013-10-25 03:21:00 Author: Ryan86me Posts: 1909 |
One of the most frustrating and satisfying games I've played. I'm about half way through at the moment. | 2013-10-25 10:01:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
One of the most frustrating and satisfying games I've played. I'm about half way through at the moment. Hope you've been finding all the purple dot collectables . I made the mistake of not doing this the first time I beat it, and I had to replay the whole thing so that I could get them (it's the only way to get the true ending) | 2013-10-25 13:03:00 Author: Ryan86me Posts: 1909 |
how do you get anywhere on this game!? I've done maybe four or five chapters and cannot move any further. Have retried the same mission at least 50 times. Game is ridiculously frustrating. I'm probably going to delete it and go back to SW Pinball. I was really expecting something different though. I was expecting somewhat of an original GTA gameplay. | 2013-10-25 14:30:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

I don't think I've even collected 1! how do you get anywhere on this game!? I've done maybe four or five chapters and cannot move any further. Have retried the same mission at least 50 times. That's how I play it - die 50 times, eventually get it right, then rejoice. It's certainly not a game for the feint-hearted, or impatient. | 2013-10-25 14:36:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
I remember something about the creators of the game wanting the player to experience guilt after killing, or something like that (it's been a while) and it didn't work in the slightest, maybe because I don't care for 8-bit murderers, maybe I've got it all wrong completely, but I'm sure there was something about trying to make the player feel like a bad person... fun game though, when taken in turns it's not as frustrating. | 2013-10-25 14:37:00 Author: Ironface Posts: 432 |
No guilt from me, just manic laughter. | 2013-10-25 15:14:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
Hotline Miami never made me feel guilt. I just had a wonderfully demented and gruesome time slaughtering everybody in sight :kz: | 2013-10-25 21:45:00 Author: Ryan86me Posts: 1909 |
