Nightmare Before Christmas New Level Kit!

Archive: 93 posts

Woohoo! Kinda sad it isn't a level PACK, but better than nothing. Wonder if there'll be trophies?

Ah yes, I'm going to go with this. LBP does have a rather good relationship with Disney for its DLC after all.

If I am wrong, than you may all eat me alive

Lol it's ok, kinda hard to see it until it's pointed out. I'm hoping we get an awesome spooky level pack with this, would be great to play on Halloween.

I, for one, love level kits. so while I would love a hub release, a Nightmare Before Christmas level kit would be nice way to bide my time.

that said I think this is nothing more than a costume pack, going by their latest DLC release habits.

I'm kinda surprised no one has posted about this, so figured I'd bring some attention to it.

Nobody posted till now because there isn't much to talk about until they actually reveal the whole thing.

But yeah. Most people on twitter thinks it's a nightmare before Christmas pack once they saw the 2nd pic. *mew

Oh! The moment I saw the bottom left picture, I realized immediately what it was! Anyways, as a few of you have mentioned, I also think that this will be more of a Costume/Sticker kit rather than a level kit. Either way, I can't wait to see more info about this! 2013-10-14 23:55:00

Unfortunately, I fear that we've seen the last level pack for LBP2 in the CC pack. Costumes get them more money for less work...

I will be shocked if this costume isn't called "Sack Skellington"...

It may be a case of a level pack being a less cost effective DLC but also being a thing that brings back lapsed players which then allows for more costume sales.

Like nearly everybody thought. Nightmare before Christmas related DLC.

Judging from what is shown, Sadly they didn't use this opportunity to make a skinny limb costume. :/

BTW, This topic minds well be renamed to "Nightmare before Christmas DLC" *mew

It looks like "Sack Skellington" is standing on a new combed clay material. Let's hope it is that and not just a sticker. This may yet be a level pack, or at least a material added to the costume bundle, like they do with stickers.

It's obviously not a sticker. But there's a chance it's not anything. It could maybe just be something for a promo photo only. But I get a good feeling that we will indeed get a level pack to go along with the costumes. like we did with toy-story and the muppets... Except I hope it will be far better then those packs were. *mew

Yeah they rarely ever change sackboy's body, with the exception of a lot of LBP Vita's story costumes. I know he wouldn't look much like a sackdoll anymore, but would be cool if he was taller and lankier than usual.

EDIT:

The gameplay in the Muppets pack was fun, but the cutscenes were WAY too long in my opinion which killed any replayability. Why so much dialogue in a platformer? And I didn't think the Toy Story one was great either. If they implemented trophies then maybe it'd make things more interesting. The Pirates and MGS ones did everything right.

I hope you're right about the level pack. My brothers GF loves disney but she's never played LBP before, so what's a better way to introduce her than around Halloween. We shall see.

Out of all the DLC levels. I personally only liked the Move pack & Cross controller pack DLC levels. *mew

Yeah, It's a shame really. It's like the company believes they can only have fun & freedom with storymode costumes most of the time. Outside of that it's like they extremely limit themselves.

While not every level pack had something significant, some of them were downright game changing. Paintinator, water, sticker panel, attract-o-tweaker, warp holes....

What game changer would you want if this was a level pack?

Aw man... it'd be great if we could change into Sack-ghosts/bats by pushing R1 and float wherever we like, only to change back. Would make getting from point A to point B much more fun.

And I know that it isn't very scary or relevant, but I always thought it'd be cool to give Sackboy his own 'mushroom' to grow big where he destructs everything in his path. Maybe a shrinking power-up too so he can run across water. I can dream can't I?

You have to think about it this way. People would only play the level pack around Halloween. Therefore, it's most likely a costume pack. (in the worst case scenario, only a Jack and Sally costume bundle)2013-10-16 22:27:00

Anyone who actually watched the show knows the story is about both Halloween AND Christmas. Meaning it works for both times of the year quite well. Plus it's a famous movie that's great to watch anytime. So it doesn't matter what time of year it is, People will play a level pack based after it regardless of the date. *mew2013-10-17 13:41:00

move pack levels are by far the best dlc levels to date, I friggin love those levels, there so fun to play.

maybe we will get oogie boogie, which means and even fatter suit now then the muppets. fingers crossed for overweight sackboy.

in regards to a level pack, game changing, ummm hard to say, cause we have most things, except size disturbance type logik/materials. we could get a water that can be fenced off, but Nightmare before xmas isnt a water feature film. maybe non collision materials/tweaker and such for ghosting reasons without affecting the features of sackboy.

but at the end of the day it isn't a dlc pack we truely wanted such as a Sanford & Son DLC Pack

Each level is a different experience depending if you get it on PS3 or on Vita. This is why its $5.99 each :/ On the plus side, the costumes are cross compatible.

Six bucks? It's not even a premium kit... though I suppose Walt's reanimated head needs his dollar from every Disney related item.

Edit:

I agree! We already have most Disney characters... Now all we need is Donald/Goofy/Mickey costumes and we'll be set.

EDIT:

Did anyone see the new karts releasing for Karting? Pretty sweet

So from what I've been reading, this is just going to be another level pack like The Incredibles one?
I hope that the level does something to give it more of a level asthetic than just a gallery type level...

That's what I was hoping for too... I mean they could do so much with the theme/materials/stickers that it wouldn't be that hard making a couple extra levels, maybe a couple weeks of creating/testing if that.

Not putting down other fellow creators out there, but I always enjoy official licensed levels much more than community ones. Maybe it's a superficial preconceived idea in my head(cause some community levels are amazing) but I'd like to have more levels by the people who design these kits/costumes.

Well from what I've read, the Vita version has some gameplay that utilizes the touchpad and all that good stuff. Not sure if that'll mean its aesthetic.

At first I thought they might be planning to release this pack for Halloween and make a Christmas Town pack for December, but that's a very long shot (there's not many Christmas characters in the movie besides Sandy Claws). It'd be cool, though!

$4.99 is kind of a hard pill to swallow when it's just one level. I know I'll end up buying it, but that price should be reserved for something with more content. Costumes look nice, but they never look as great in game as they do in the pictures.2013-10-22 23:05:00

Got the level & costumes. I'd agree 5$ is to much for a single level. 3$ would be a more correct price imo. Also for 6$ I wish The costume pack came with a 5th costume at least. They done it before, So seems a bit odd to not do it this time.

Played the level. it's alright for a LBP2 gallery level. Nothing fantastic. But it's not bad. *mew

Like I said before. (This is basically a monster creator pack#2) ...Mind you the goodies etc you get in the levels are the same between both games.

And don't think so. As it's just a showcase level. No real gameplay. *mew

Three of the materials are color changers like felt and neon. Including the material in the promo shot. Some good jack'o'lantern pics in the stickers. There is a new wood that makes stickers look glossy.

The bg is annoyingly not the center of Halloween town, but looks nice in night mode. I haven't had time to look at the rest.

I've just had a little tinker and it does 'shimmer' a little when you pass through it.... also seems to depend on the size you have it too.

I'm really glad to finally see some new create goodies, and they all look really good. And I hope this isn't the last of such offerings. But I also think asking for two separate purchases of $4.99 to get them on both LBP2 and LBPVita is pretty lame. I'd like to support both platforms, but not at that price for this amount of content. It sounds like the "gameplay experience" in the single gallery level isn't even much different across the two platforms, so it's hard to see how Sony justifies not just considering this a cross buy. If we ever get any more level kits, I hope Sony might offer a package price for buying both formats, to help stimulate both communities. Long live LBP!2013-10-24 21:01:00

Here's another one showing the new stuff in create mode. I hope LBPHub releases soon because I sold LBP2 and wish I hadn't:

I bet you could get LBP2 for a few bucks on Amazon or Ebay, it sells really cheap nowadays

Or just wait for LBPhub that's free and is said to come out later this year... And with only around 2 months left. that should be soon. Unless they delay it. *mew

I'm just hoping my saves are compatible with it. When I downloaded the free version of LBP2 from PS+, my saves were not compatible and neither was the saves for the DLC. There was evidently a work around for the actual game save but nothing for all the DLC packs. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

You will be able to fully import your current profile and everything you have previously purchased for either title will automatically be available to you in LittleBigPlanet HUB!

Oh good. I just feel like a break from regular video games again. TLOU was fantastic and I'm on my 7th playthrough, but I need a creative outlet.

Sorry to continue this derailment, but if Sony wants to avoid "awesome! Hey guys, I just installed hub... Oh, wait... (echoed trail off of words as an extreme pull back shows me and some tumbleweeds all by myself) everyone else is playing PS4 games.", they only have two and a half weeks to establish a foothold before the PS4 overshadowing.

Though, I suspect and expect them to anticipate the majority of LBP2 players will be too young to go buy their own PS4 and not get the one their parents bought until Christmas morning, so they'll his release it after the new console, confident that there will be plenty of time to reap short term dlc revenue goals... =B

To be fair, I'm not getting a PS4 until either a price drop or Battlefront(Whichever comes first), and I'm sure I'm not alone.2013-11-02 07:46:00
