Q about downloaded PSP games through PSN

Archive: 13 posts

I know this is probably a stupid question, but...

Can you play the PSP games you download on your PS3? I always wondered. Never bought one through PSN.

I guess not, otherwise why do they write this software is for PSP ONLY?

Try downloading one of the demos. If you can play a PSP demo on your PS3, then you probably could for full games too.

But I don't think so.

The only games that play on both systems are the PS1 games.2009-01-29 23:25:00

Some games support use of the PSP in addition to the main PS3 stuff. But generally a PSP demo will only work on a PSP system. PS1 stuff bought through the PSN store will work on both systems.

I believe the PSP 2000+ has video out options though. That is kind of the same thing you are asking, but in reverse.

You can play some through remote play but it'll usually say it in the description.

I'm pretty sure that games downloaed for the PSP can't be played on the PS3 except for classic PS1 games. It would be an awesome feature though.

PSP games play on PSP only.

PS3 games can have "remote play" or "connectivity" options/features.

PS1 games can be played in a PS1, PS2 and PS3 with the disk. Digitally they can be played on the PS3 and PSP.

A new PS3 firmware will probably never let you play PSP games on the PS3. They want to sell you a PSP and it's normal.

What you might see coming through firmware updates thought is the ability to play PS2 games on non-60 gig PS3 models. This will happen because Sony said already said they are "looking into it" and at some point when the PS2 will sell badly they will want to sell the games on PSN just like with PS1.

That's impossible, it requires a BC chip, a simple firmware update can't do it.

It's not impossible, difficult but not impossible. Would probably need extra software downloading in addition to the FW that would go with it.

It's totally doable. You only need an emulator program that you would install on your HDD that's all. It would downloag along the firmware update and you would install it if you want. Just like Home, Folding, etc..2009-02-01 22:25:00
