My idea for a labyrinth game

So, I've been thinking of a game in which you have to escape a labyrinth. While I haven't settled on a plot or anything, the reason why you're trying to escape is because you want to be in a land where there is no darkness, in a land where light particles float freely in the atmosphere.

This is where I plan to insert light logic in the game to try and make it as entertaining as possible. I was sort of thinking about reflecting rays of lights with mirrors, but if I can work prisms, golems, and other character ideas in there, it would then add to the variety and complex world in which I plan to develop.

I have some ideas for the game title as well:


Labyrinth
Light Labyrinth
Golems of Light
Irrgarten
Prisma
Labyrinth of Prisma


If you have any other ideas for titles, let me know.

Also, if you have any ideas on how I could improve on this idea, let me know on that as well. I shall start sketching designs and obstacles for the project, soon.

Hi Tony,
It sounds like an interesting project idea... a little different and more cerebral a level type. Your titles are all good too. What I'd do is start designing your game first... as you build it and idea for the name will come to you. If your going for a maze game, maybe make it a top down, as this lends itself better to a full maze. Be happy to hgelp out if needed. Good luck with the project.

Some of the names are German, but now I might consider looking up some latin words for the name of this project. And yes, I have gotten started on the designs of some characters/nemesis. For the designs, I've modeled them after creatures such as bats and moths. In fact, the main character wasn't even going to be a moth. However, as the designs kept changing, the character the player controlls started to appear more moth-like, and the plot makes more sense for a moth character.

Still thinking of some other designs I could go with. I have an understanding as to how my enemies are going to attack, function, behave, etc. I'm just having trouble coming up with designs.

Well..If you'd like to invite me when I'm on the game (usually around 11pm+ gmt), i'd be happy to share some secrets lol.
As for ideas, If the main moth character has to collect/eat food to regain health, why not have them ingest some food with flourescent properties. That way they could maybe cast light for a time. This would be a way to maybe have a temperory light source that you carry in you.
Prisms are an interesting idea. I'm already seeing uses for them....like colour code puzzles for doors etc. You could have the prism in such a way that depending on what colour light shines on it, its refracts it into those colours (eg. if white light isshone on prism it refracts all the rainbow colours, whereas, if a purple light is cast, it refracts into red and blue).
