Is lbpk dead ?

Archive: 29 posts

Is this game dead? 8 weeks and no new levels team picked...

My creative friends (with team picked levels) have decided to use their skills in other games and have abandoned LBPK, hundreds and hundreds of hours spent by excellent creators to realize that their work is not really appreciated. No incentives, everything is dead in the forums..

I am very sad because this game has great potential, but there are other games that appreciate the efforts of creators ...

Sorry to hear that. I got on this forum specifically to talk about this game. I've got two levels brewing.2013-10-04 21:35:00

Yes that's sad. No team picks for two month, where as there is so many good creation.
So far the problem is that the awesome creators went away for the game and their experience didn't benefit to new creator.
For example i have had a lot of help from Dsmmat.
Now it's back to the beginning.
In the forum there still is no advanced tutorial like in LBP2
Sad sad sad
As far as i'm concerned i'll be on holliday in 2 weeks and i planed to make a new level.
I really love this game (it's a race game where as LBP is "just" a plateform game)
Hope that it will have a second live

Yeah the community has died awhile go,I stopped caring about that, and I suggest you do the same. At this point I've come to realize we as a community were the death of this community. As soon as this game was announced or leaked people already were against it, and complained. most people weren't optimistic about the game. The Modnation community wasn't being supportive either. I'm not justifying what UFG has done with the game. I just think that the game just have enough support on the developer side. I feel like UfG should have merged the stickering tools from modnation in this game. This game is still very good and there is a lot of things to be discovered with the creation tools, there should have been more advance tutorials on that. I truly do understand the both sides of this story. oh god the glitchs and bugs oh god!!

I'm going to still support this game and this portion of the website. I just like to create for myself and if people enjoy my creations then that makes me even more grateful. The incentive doesn't have to be physical and can something in the form of friendship. I met so many cool people on this site and through the game Laidback, Camain, puppethand, and onepapa. such good creators and its was an honor to met them in my other account. I love this game too pieces!! yay

I feel like we should all build this community up, and really support each others work and help each other out so we can all evolve and make great creations.

No, I believe that it's our own fault (though you make a very good case by telling people to stop caring ).

True, some people were very skeptical, which is understandable after seeing all the bugs in the beta. I think the problem was that too many of those bugs were still there in the final game, and still are. This got us in a catch-22 where they (maybe UFG, more likely Sony) didn't want to invest in bug fixing because the DLC revenue was too low, and we didn't want to invest in DLC for a game with so many bugs.

It seems this was just a quick side project that wasn't allowed to cost too much money, which is a shame, because underneath the bugs there's real potential...

More than game bugs or lack of attention, I think what is killing this game is a lack of Co-create mode. In LBP2, I spend way more time with my friends in create mode than running levels. I'm not nearly as interested in racing my friends as I am in making levels with them.2013-10-07 14:36:00

I agree with this. Who doesn't have fun messing about with their friends spawning whatever you can get your cursor on. This was one of the best parts of LBP.

Its a very sad state of affairs, its sad that UFG abandoned it ( I think the game should be classed abandonware at this stage and we should all get it for free) Then the whole playstation network could play it and realise the missed oppertunity. It breaks my heart, to see the game just die off like it is. I ans my girlfriend and nephews love it still. There is just so much potential in the game and the track studio. I find it hard to think a company could make such a good potentially great game, then just pull out and cast it to the side. The bugs and lack of patches ruined it. The online is a mess and the single player create is a killer. I LOVE THIS GAME, because it is so well put togeather with an amazing split screen option. For a game withj friends around the tv for a party night, its probably one of the ps3's BEST split screen games. #
If anyone feels like me....dont let the game die. Its like UFG taking years to make a matchstick masterpiece with thousands of matches, then lighting one and watching it burn. community....GET THE EXTINGUISHER

I purchased me Karting only a few weeks ago and played the story levels and I have to say I'm still enthusiastic! I also did my first steps in the create mode and I'm thinking that I'm becoming more familiar with it step by step!^^ Its a pity to hear that the community is that pessimistic about the future! Karting isn't a bad game, though there are a lot of things that could be improved! I'm considering Karting as some tentative steps on the way to a really convincing highlight maybe a Karting 2! And if not so then I already had my fun with it and I'm content, if some of my friends will enjoy one of my creations!^^
As far as I know is StevenI meanwhile also responsible for the Karting section! I will try to inform him about the situation in the Karting community! Maybe that at least the MMpicks will be done more regularily again!^^

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

I'll be sticking around once in a while to assist with any logic questions and spare others my pain, but I'm getting off this ride to address the increasingly scary backlog of games behind me.

It was a really fun ride while it lasted though. If they ever unearth a second game, I'll be there.

its sad that UFG abandoned it

UFG will only work on it to the extent that they're paid to so any abandonment blame should be directed at Sony.

I downloaded it for free with PS+ just to see if it had got any more interesting since the beta and...meh. I've always loved kart racers but the story mode just feels boring and, while the create mode does appear to have a lot of potential, there doesn't seem to be much point in spending hours making a track. It's just MNR with a few extra features, which is a shame.2013-10-13 17:15:00

Simple answer - YES.

I've written tons on how much potential this game has and what can be done to fix it and make it great but it all fell on deaf ears. UFG have nothing to do with the game now and Sony want nothing more than to completely ostricize it from the LBP franchise.

Well congratulations are in order Sony, you succeeded admirably!

To be fair, I think LBPK is a failed game. I know most of us think nobody plays LBP1 anymore, but there are still some LBP1 players left. As for LBPK, there's fewer, even when there's still support for the game. I'm surprised that LBPK is dying, even when LBP2 is older. But then again, racing games are always failed games, especially when the create controls in LBPK are complicated.2013-10-20 04:21:00

I never played LBP2 nor LBP1 (in create mode). I discovered the create mode with LBPK and i really enjoyed it.There is such a huge potentiel to do whatever you want.
The thing i don't understand is: why the hundred or tousend excellent creator on LBP2 didn't even try to make some level on LBPK.
Yes UFG is responsable for the death of LBPK. But the community can still make it live i think.

The main problem with the create mode is that it's way to complicated compared to that of other LBP games or even Modnation. UFG tried to make a game reminescient of Modnation but with the LBP charm HOWEVER they put too much LBP in there and on top of that they have failed to fix many major bugs which still plague the game. I gave up on this months ago while I only got to the 4th world. The customization of Sackboy and the karts are completely messed up. I tried making my helmet black so I put a sticker as large as I could for good measure yet it only covered the back-part and with the kart I wanted a sticker at the front put it just disappeared.

The creation tools is literally like shaking hands with a cat and I tried making something as simple as a bridge. It would either be too short too long or the design would simply not work. If they gave you presets (not just for bridges but more foliage and buildings etc) while still allowing you to build freely, like Modnation only with a tad more freedom. Even if the objects tool from Modnation was included that allowed you to spray an area with a tree or building type.

Gameplay wise it's not that bad I especially like the arena game-mode and even the free mode before an online race begins but I felt like it should have been long enough to do at least one lap. However tracks that others have made have been very enjoyable and I do think of it as such a wasted opportunity but really in the end I think that UFG would have been better off making a second Modnation.

I saw this profilinf site that lists statistics on PSN trophies the other night, and while LBP had almost half a million users, LBPK didn't even reach 80 thousand. I guess that's why they gave up.2013-10-21 11:35:00

I hae to agree with atheistsw,
I love this game and its a fantastically made game (aside from the never fixed annoying bugs like solid glass... they at least could have fixed that). I findi it really sad, because it had such great potential. With a little practice, the track studio wasnt that hard to use, and actually was quite good. I think people whinged cos it wasnt exactly the same as lbp2 (IT WASNT, It was lbpk , and needed to be different in 3d).
I will be still playing it christmas day, cos its great. I was gonna do a few tutorials here...but kinda feel now, whats the point if nobody looks.
Shame on UFG for making a good game and destroying it by not at least fixing the create bugs.
Hmmm....If anyone in UFG IS reading this.... Here's a list of main fixes needed.
1. Fix the glass please. Glass is meant to be a see-through material.
2. Hologram cant be made invisible.
3. You cant raise the height of the water very much
4. if more that 2 people play, you cant race against ai players in story levels.

Alas, I gotta agree with atheistsw. The game is fantastic and shows so much potential. Sad to say I think its a forgotten treasure now. Sony and UFG have tossed it out. I can understand them wanting to move on, but, they should have supported it to the extent of it being bug fixed at least. I even said I would do tutorials for people but with no takers at all... i think its a lost cause. I WANT TO SAY HOW SAD THIS IS BECAUSE I LOVE THIS GAME.2013-10-24 11:03:00

Yes but it's been a year we are waiting for DLC. So that's not sure at all that UFG will make DLC. If they will, i'll be happy

I Agree, Create mode for LBPK is not good, Creation tools are hard and not so fun to control and game has too many bugs and server errors to the point where you decide to give up and scream. But the game is fun, the levels are nice and loveable, Online racing is rather more intersting then create mode and gameplay is okay and it well made. Plus it has some of your favorite classic from LBP1 And LBP2 and once i heard one the songs i went nuts!

But sadly it's ruined by the game's lacks of Creative Story, Create Mode, Creating Online with friends (Online/Local Create Mode), NO BACK UP nor IMPORT Options, and the Glitches, Bugs, and Errors in the game. So in the end, LittleBigPlanet Karting is a good game and it's fun to play with friends or family but sadly it has major problems and for your question that reads Is LittleBigPlanet Karting Dead?... No, but it's almost there to being dead and gone for good.
