Hello, fellow makers!

Archive: 25 posts

It's good to see that I'm not the only one obsessed with this game. Though I have to temper my obsession or I wouldn't get anything done in my actual life. By day, I'm just an ordinary theater technician, musician, artist and toy/puppet maker (www.flyingwall.org if you want to see some puppets, our toy line will be on there next month) and unfortunately don't have as much time as would like to spend creating levels. For years I've played video games in my down time, but this game grabs me because I can relax and play a game, but get into the same artistic and analytical process that I undergo in my studio. I created one level on LBP1 (currently called Stripey-Toothy Land of Peril. I rather liked it, but it hasn't gotten good marks. On watching my daughter play it, it might be yet even more perilous than I suspected), haven't gotten to mess with 2 yet, but I'm currently working on two levels for LBPK. I like the carting, and I like that it's not a side scroller, but fully 3D. I'm here because as amazing a game as LBP is, it's also glitchy and weird. I need to seek advice from the experts. Also, I've figured out my own ways around various LBP problems and may be able to offer some support for others. I don't do much online playing with others, never have, but this game is good for that. Honestly, though, it does kind of weird me out when someone shows up in my pod. It's like, "Um, hi. Your here." Kind of awkward. "Can I, uh, get you something?" Makes me wish I had a mini-fridge in my pod. Just know if we're friends and you show up in my pod, I would offer you a beer if I could. Or a soda, depending.2013-10-04 03:27:00

Howdy and welcome to LBPC. So glad you joined. This is really a great place to be. It's an awesome place to make new friends, learn techniques and tricks and just to have a good time. To help you explore the site I'll provide a few links for you.

The Level Showcase (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-Level-Showcase) area is the place you want to go to make a thread about your level. We have an optional F4F (feedback for feedback) system where you tell others to check out your level, come back and give feedback/suggestions and you'll do the same for them. It's a valuable system that is underused here. Be sure to use the LBP.me tool (the white bell in a blue box icon) http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/lbpme.png this will pull your level info from LBP.me and place it in the thread for you. NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW
Before posting your awesome creation in the level showcase, please read this handy dandy guide. It will help your get more attention to your thread and your level. The Level Showcase and You, a Guide to level Promotion (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=73343-LBPC-Showcase-Essential-Guide-(For-Dummies))
Spotlights (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/content.php?124-Community-Content) -- In the mood to play some awesome member levels? This is the place to go. We're currently on episode 121!

Check out our extensive tutorial library and help sections. We have tons of extremely knowledgeable members who are more than happy to help out.

That's all for now. In the mean time, have fun and enjoy your time here. If you need anything, please feel free to ask.

Hey there, welcome to LBPC! I took 2 theatre courses in highschool and it was super fun. We got to act stuff and use the equipment and everything. It is really cool that you are a puppet maker and you should definitely play LBPV (if you haven't) because the story has to do with puppets. It's nice to have you on the site! Have fun!

Yea, my wife and I have worked theater tech for almost ten years now. I usually work the fly system. It's fun, and good team sport, but honestly, it's getting kind of old. That's why we're making the push this year to get our toy business up and running.
I don't know of this LBPV. I keep seeing "Vita" being tossed around, but I don't know exactly what that is. Is that a different system?

*GASP* The Vita is the Sony portable game system. Kinda like the PSP but 1000X better. Here's a pic

And, there is a LittleBigPlanet on the Vita that is simply awesome. If you got the funds, I highly recommend it.

Incidentally, can anyone tell me why it says "Lint" under my user name? I'm a little dusty, sure, could probably use a shave, but lint?2013-10-04 17:16:00

you can do what I did. I stashed a twenty here and there, saved up change, instead of eating out for lunch, I would pocket that money and before you know it, BAM! A brand new Vita in my hands.

Simply tracking the stages as you grow in experience (XP) points. We all started at lint. However if decide to become a site contributor, you could change it to whatever you want.

I have to correct my non-contest judging, awesomest pinball level maker friend here. You don't HAVE to become a site supporter to be able to change your "title." Activity will gain points and with enough points, I forgot how many, you can change it.

Now where is that Silence button? Lol

Yeah Bio is correct. At a certain level you get that for nothing, but the amount is quite high.

.....profound........

Good to know. I was hoping it wasn't just me. It's not every day one is referred to as lint.

Well.. when you're a sackboy, lint is pretty much the primordial soup for the species. lol Below is the full list if you are curious:

Lint
Thread
Fuzz Ball
Patch of Cloth
Sack
Junior Sackperson
Sackperson
Sackperson Private
Sackperson Sergeant
Sackperson Lieutenant

Welcome to the site. And yes, according to that list, you get to become a real life Sackperson after 6 more changes. You know, then you'll really be that character you play as in LBP and just live in the game...Forever!

At that point, the mini-fridge will really come in handy.

Enjoy the site.

And also a belated welcome from me (omg! How often I already had to use these words!^) The mini-fridge idea is sounding great, but no need to hurry, winter is almost here!^^ Great that the "league of no longer spring chickens" is getting stronger once more!^^
I've also started to save money for the Vita in exactly the way that biorogue has suggested and I can only say that it is working! I have reached about 40% in only a three weeks! (And my wife didn't even notice anything, so that I don't have to fear to be killed one day!^^ )
Have a lot of fun here and many greetings, Jürgen^^

I'm still a spring chicken, it's just not my first spring.
Yea, I could save up for a Vita that way, but I'm already doing that for a running list. Being toy-makers and musicians, my wife and I tend to spend our extra money on tools, materials, and musical instruments. I'm afraid a tiny game system just isn't on the list. I barely have time to spare to play the big one.

Hahaha, that a great view of point, so I can go on feeling as a spring chicken too!^^ And because I'm also making some music here in lbp, I'm curious to know what kind of music you're doing?!^^

Many greetings, Jürgen^^
