Sleepy Hollow

Somebody at my house DVRed the new Sleepy Hollow series, so I decided to give it a chance. Mainly so this girl at work would stop bugging me about it. For the most part it's okay if you're into shows like "once upon a time", though my eye-roll sensor kept activating. However, there was one redeeming nugget. Clancy Brown (Starship Troopers, The Highlander, Spongebob Squarepants) plays this sheriff who gets beheaded by the horseman in the first ten minutes or so. As this is happening, I couldn't help but whisper "there can be only one..." | 2013-10-03 14:44:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
Gah! now you've spoiled the entire series for me! *deletes Sleepy Hollow from DVR* https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-tFBGJZvqaqQ/TzPGnylcFAI/AAAAAAAABUE/mGu9rF5sTkE/s300/when-you-see-someone-having-fun-on-your-way-to-school-or-work.gif Just kidding. I wasn't going to watch that anyway. Just the previews alone nearly made me roll my eyes right out my head. | 2013-10-03 15:55:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Him dying isn't a spoiler. They mention it in the program guide for that episode. | 2013-10-03 16:16:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
I just found it odd that..wait. must stay on topic, else the post will be deleted without warning. I just cannot bring myself to watch it. I don't get the premise. So Ichabod Crane somehow dies and then wakes up in the future? And then somehow the headless horseman wakes up too? And oh yeah, by the way, the one with no head finds a big machine gun? Come on Fox. Get it together. | 2013-10-03 16:27:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
That plot summary makes me think of sherlock holmes in the 22nd century. (Cue theme song). Moriarty is in the future and no other investigator can match him. Luckily we have Holmes perfectly preserved and ready to be reanimated soas to solve crimes with the help of a robot watson. Suddenly I feel the need to check netflix... | 2013-10-03 19:55:00 Author: xxMATEOSxx Posts: 1787 |
It's a bit more like the "modern day take on a fairy tale" fad with a dash of John Carter waking up in an alien-to-him situation. Or a Buck Rogers "returning after centuries to a world he no longer recognizes" situation. There's a part of the book of revelations that is so central to the plot arc that I am surprised the theme song isn't "when the man comes around" by Johnny Cash. | 2013-10-03 21:05:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
