[Solved] Bullet destroy on impact problem

Archive: 3 posts

Okay so basically I'm just trying to make a bullet that destroys on impact. It kind of works but it has some problems. So i started off by emitting a sticker panel circle every second with a linear velocity of 55. I put some logic on the circle so that when it touches something it destroys (impact sensor connected to destroyer). Ok, that's fine, and then I put a metal wall (about 3 medium grid squares thick) in front of it to stop it. So when the circle impacts the wall it disappears. This works fine HOWEVER, I'm not sure if this is a glitch or something but when I increase the emitters linear velocity any more OR if I make the wall thinner instead, the bullet goes right through the wall! So I tried a bunch of things but the same basic thing seems to happen. Is this a glitch? Is there a way to fix this? Please give me any advice you have, thanks a lot!2013-09-28 18:11:00

It sounds like your bullet is travelling too fast for the impact sensor to register an impact with a thin wall.

I'd recommend adding another piece of (invisible) sticker material to your bullet, but make it at least 4 small grid squares long and the same width as your bullet. Attach your impact sensor to this piece of sticker material.

With a longer impact range there will be less chance for the impact sensor not detecting the impact.

Yaa that's what I figured. I have tried increasing the size of the bullet BUT now that you mention increasing the bullet with extra sticker panel (instead of just using the corner editor), I'm actually seeing some more improved results. I think if I just adjust this a bit I should probably get a good outcome. That's probably the only way to fix this anyway. Thanks! I appreciate the help2013-09-28 20:12:00
