How do you change the name of your thread? I can't use it in edit...

Hello there!
This is no longer my Sack Black project. It became:
W&B - You had to think?

I'm going to post some pictures later.

Description: It's a very story based level. It's a black & white world where sacks don't know about colors. A terrible dictator is controlling the W&B world & you have to ride the world of him. (there is a plot twist behind this)

Some of you may have played my level. Lol only Takelow & GrantosUK!

Well, let me copy and paste the feedback I gave before. I originally wrote this on Blizz's visitors page as there was no project thread to put it on.


Well, I found the level and gave it a try. I could not find anywhere to write some comments directly related to Sack Black though. Maybe start a thread on the Projects section of the site?

Well anyway, here are my thoughts...

I liked what I saw so far overall. It's a great start to the level. Don't give up on it just yet!

The bombs appearing to kill the guards was a bit odd. Maybe have something more... visible happen to them. Like some explosives hidden in the wall or something, or under their chair or desk.

The conveyor belt at the very start felt a little bit too slow when I first played the level and was a bit dis-orientating. You get use to it when you retry the level, but the first time just felt slow to me. :

I loved the bonus area part. It's a great idea and I love finding secret stuff.

The sliding ID card thingy kept getting stuck by falling off the right side of the piston for me. Maybe put a small ledge to stop it sliding too far on the platform, as a rough suggestion...

I noticed on one retry that snow was falling. That was a nice extra effect. I don't think it happens all the time. I only noticed it after I was up in the bonus area.

Overall it looked like a great start! Make a project thread about it and keep people updated! Don't give up just yet!

OK I gave my level a new look. Now it's a little different from what Elbee23 here played.
I'm starting to getting back the interest(thx 4 the advice Elbee) for the level.
The 1. room isn't like before. It still has the went but the approach to get to it is different. A little secret/ puzzle.
Don't mind the second room. It's not even done (lolz). But u have to pass it to complete the level. Please leave feedback or say if u have any problems with the stage. Like getting stuck in the box at the beginning or having trouble with the bomb.

I've just had a go at the level for F4F. Not much there to comment on, I'm sure when I had a go earlier there was more.

Anyway, a good start, I'll play when its completed.

Oh, you could of kept me up to date with this, I was searching your levels for this. Couldn't find it, I'll leave feedback now...

Thoughts going through my head

-Well it's obviously going to be all black and white, but did you ever stop to think that it would be better with maybe the color correction tool? It would make it all literally black and white, try and fiddle with the color correction and all those lighting things and see what you can come up with.

-The small chair, closet and stuff. Good detail, I always love levels that try to add some detail, I know you will add more since this is still in development so I will ignore the emptiness for now.

The Positive

- First thing I liked was the little easter egg you had set up, "Break the can" sort of thing, I have a suggestion for this to make it more real, you can read up on that in the Suggestions/Feedback section.

- Nice water fountain, it's a bit strange that the drops are coming down backwards, maybe you can find a way to have them turn? Using the option on the emitter that gives it a spin.

- Haha I love your humor, with all the comments on I really liked that one "In other news! Black is the new White!" Humor is always a good thing.

- Your WNB Police look very nice, good job on the detail on them.

Suggestions/Feedback

- About the trash cans, maybe you can have a little "breaking" noise, it will definately make it seem more real.

- Not all your wood is fully painted, a few materials still have the original wood color to them, you may want to double check everything as it does take the beauty out of it.

- If those black squares in the back are suppose to be buildings in a city, you can try to add yellow small squares to them, to make it seem more "alive" indicating that people are actually in the buildings. Again, that's if those are buildings, and if not... What the heck are they?

- The second to last speech bubble from the WBN Tv or whatever, has a slight problem. This is what it says and I quote, "to escape from the scene of the crime. More is not know. Now back to you Anna!" I think you meant "to escape from the scene of the crime. Nothing else is known. Now back to you Anna!" If that's what you meant, I would suggest changing it.

Overall

I really liked the level overall, I know it's still in development, so I know it will only improve. It was really fun, there weren't any glitches (that I know of) and it ran really smoothly, gave me a few laughs, but it didn't have that much platforming to be honest, the level was just a basic introduction. I wouldn't give it a heart, but like you said yourself. It's a sneak peak so don't heart it, I'm just waiting for the real level to come out so I can heart it because I know it'll be good. 4 Stars!

On a side note: You may want to edit your title and the original post with the name change, so others can find it too!

Wow.... Thank you Whale. I'm really glad that you liked the sneek peek.
Now because of the given feedback from Whale (and graygoose) I'm going to change somethings and say my plants for the level.

-trash cans... consider it done!

-Hmm. I didn't notice the unpainted wood. Could you tell me where it is?

-I'm thinking to do something with those buildings in the back. I'm not sure if I'll be adding windows but I certainly want to add billboards.

- about the black and white thing. I didn't like the "tone" of the light correction. It's more friendly this way.

- I'll change the text in the speech bubble.

- Ok I'll change the music... (or not) {from graygoose}

- I let the brain there cause I was testing something. Killed brains leave a better effect then dissolve. {from graygoose}

- I'm going to add the platforming now. Be sure to whach out for the full level!

heres my feedback for your "WnB dont think"

nice visual, its simple and easy in the eyes. i know your looking for johny, but theres some commotion going on.... interesting storyline.

2 things i suggest and 1 question

- the music doesnt fit to my ears. try something else that makes you feel like your wondering around a cool area where your just passing through scenes.. (right now the way it sounds, is... kinda hectic and i feel like i need to rush/panic and i need to get active.)

- the drininking fountains that emits bubbles when tipped over were a nice touch, BUT!!!... they only produce bubbles in one side. what if someone tries to tip them to the other side like i did? no bubbbles

its a simple fix tho, put another magnetic switch to the other side.

- my question, i didnt understand the the unprotected brain that i killed... whats the purpose other than unblocking the path?

thats all dude.. overall, its a nice level. let me know when its done.

I searched for the level, but couldn't find it so instead I played the level you had the most hearts and plays in (enter midas) and I thought it was fun, but didn't offer much in the way of complexity.

First of all the game play was there and it was definitely a platformer at heart. The only problem I had with it was the visuals. I feel like it would look nicer if you changed the material of things. If I'm entering into some secret city I think you should use something other then wood. Possibly some sort of stone or something? Basically make it look old and not like some strange factory.

Other then that I liked how you made the sword, the twirling things that launched you upward and some of your decorative choices. Just go back and change some of the materials to make the environment more consistent.

Anyway I gave it 4 stars and a fun tag.
