"Lurking deep within the dark mines of Gambester, frightful creatures have been making their new home all but humble for all that enter. With every attack that came at night, the townspeople's fear grew more and more. However, deciding to not stand this anymore, our brave (or stupid, perhaps?), sackful heroes go off into the mines, just to see what these things really are. Their poor town had been terrorized, but they'll take no more of this, they thought. Not a bad cause, was it? After all, it's said Noonians dwell in mines because of precious stones...

...They better bring a light."



First things first. This level will be having some creepy-ish (I think?) looking critters by the name of Noonians. Yes, Noonians. For X or Y reason, I couldn't keep that name off them whenever I thought about it, so I went and asked my buddy Noonian if I could borrow his name for my level. Lucky me, he said it was cool! However, I don't wanna go on showing what these things look like yet. I have a general idea, but...yeah.

ANYHOW... I'll be able to make this level if what's been said about light is true. The idea is to have the level pitch-black (it was mentioned in an interview somewhere that you could do this...) and have the players roll around a small lamp of the sort to guide their way across their level. Maybe have two... One that has a circular radius of light around it, and another that points a beam of light in a straight line. Teamwork will be crucial, as one member or two will be in charge of the lights as the other go through their guided path.

Say you have some platforms above you that need jumping over... The player with the straight beam of light below the platforms will be aiming at them to guide the platforming player. A little hard to explain, I suppose, but it'll be very interesting to base a level around light.

So, comments and suggestions as usual are more than welcome! Thanks for reading.

Wow, I'm so sorry didn't see this sooner!

I really really like the whole Cave idea, it reminds me of LittleBigCavern & the Meerkat Kingdom level with the light idea.

I really like the Co-op idea, but how would the level work with only one player? Can you explain some more puzzles? Do you have any pictures?

Hm. Maybe you could do something with the stones? The goal could be to get to the end, take the stone, (yes, there should only be 1 stone, it makes things simpler. ) out of the mine & to the beginning. This could be accomplished with a magnet key. Taking the stone away would kill the wretched Noonians & save the day.

As to you Sackpeople who will complain about bumping: who cares? This idea is awesome & deserves a lot of response.

This sounds like a great idea, I don't think it has to be for one person, from what I have seen levels can be for more people only, I believe MM has said that some of the levels will require more people. So I say it can be done to require more people to play the level.

I would suggest some light in the level at different parts because it can become slightly annoying having it completely dark, like have some light bugs fly by or maybe some glow off some crystals, my friend made a level like this and the player had to use a torch to scare off enemies and it could run out if you stayed around too long. So maybe throw something like that to scare noonians away.

Again great idea.

I like the idea it reminds me of a Gears of War level where your friend goes up and points a light down and you have to stay in the light and try to make it the other side of the map and if the guy aiming the light messes up or moves it away from you a bunch of little bugs eat you.2008-08-29 05:36:00
