Prize Bubbles ..and object clutter

Archive: 2 posts

I wanted to get some opinions from other players...
What are your thoughts on prize bubbles and objects that you win in user-created levels?
(not to be confused with score bubbles)

At first, i was collecting things left and right... eating everything up.
Eventually, i had to go back and sort through all the junk. That was kind of time consuming.
Then came the concept of profiles filling up and having a limit to the space in which you have to exist.

I began to notice my interest in prize bubbles dwindle, almost to the point of peeve.
I have, on occasion, gone out of my way to avoid prize bubbles in levels.. sometimes even resulting in exiting a level.

It is rare that i actually want to keep (or need) the things that other users create.
If i ever would have use for someone else's object, i'd still want to re-create my own version of it anyway.
i'm more comfortable with striving for originality.

Suddenly, it occurs to me, that i've filled my own levels with prize bubbles
...not totally useless.. an invention or two, or things i thought someone might want.
I even have the special rewards for acing my levels or collecting 100%.
But then, if i don't want other people's "junk, why would they want mine?

Still, i have included a sticker (or 3) that shall come into play in my next (in the works) level ..this being a level-completing prize. Thus i am aware of the direct value some prizes are intended to have...
But then this references yet another concern of mine...
..namely the lack of attention/effort/interest that the average player seems to have...
When i include a sticker to use in a later level, will players actually hold on to it?
Or will they even bother to return to a previous level in order to proceed in the next??
.... I'm guessing most will not.

For me,
the main problem is the limited profile size
..and perhaps inadequate ability to organize one's inventory.
If MM ever get around to increasing profile size or some similar fix, then i may breathe easier.
........
Actually, my main fear in profile size is lost work on my own levels, due to stuff not saving.

I've published 3 levels so far, and im fairly proud of them.
You can win a lot of my creations... neat at least to look at, before deleting.

But, like everyone else, i want people to play my levels and enjoy them.
I want to attract them and keep them coming back.. not deter them.

I intend prize bubbles to be incentive.
My question is, "are they?"
Do you enjoy winning or acquiring prize bubbles in user-created levels?
Or do you consider them an annoyance/deterrent from your enjoyment of a level?

I need some perspective.
..some feedback.

This thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7495) talks about prize bubbles and various users attitudes to them, both in terms of collecting them and implementing them in their own levels. You might want to continue your discussion there, the last reply was only a few days ago, after you have a read through. 2009-01-29 14:02:00
