Logic tutorial requests?
Archive: 12 posts
I love logic, and I am really not sure what to build, so if you have any ideas for me to make tutorials on, then I will do my best to explain how it works 8D Also if you need an in-game tutorial, because it is associated with your level, then just invite me IGN----> PuturosuL Tip: If you have a rooted android, then you can download BlueputDroid to use your phone keyboard as a in-game keyboard, its still beta, but it works well for the most part I hope requests come in, I just love logic, and I would be glad to help anyone that needs help | 2013-09-15 15:58:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
Hi, amiel As you can see, I'm new to the site, but I've been playing LBP for a while now. I'm a player not a creator, but I've had an idea for a level that I've wanted to make since LBP1 and now that I've got LBP Vita, I want to take a shot at creating the level. It's essentially a card game (Triple Triad, for anyone that knows it), and there are two basic logic parts that I'm stuck on, I've spent far too long trying to work it out. First, the game takes place on a 3x3 grid (like tic-tac-toe) and I need a way of selecting a square. Second, the cards are numbered. Essentially, a number will 'beat' any number lower, to show the card has been 'beaten' it will change colour. I've worked out part of this logic but the problem I have is that I want cards of a lower value being placed to not be affected. For example, placing a 4 next to an already placed 3 should switch its colour, but placing a 2 next to the already placed 3 should not change any colours. How I currently have it set is that a card of lower value being placed next to a card of higher value will cause the card of lower value to be 'lost', I don't want this to happen. I hope that this makes more sense to you than Logic makes to me. I'm new to creating, but I've wanted to make this level for years now, so I want to learn. But I just can't grasp Logic, no matter how hard I try, I've even studied Boolean Logic and still can't get it. Thanks | 2013-09-16 14:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well, I sort of get the game, but what you need are 2 main parts to fix your logic 1) you need a 2 dimensional selector, which is basically 2 selectors, 1 that is left and right, and one that is up and down, here is a tutorial you can use ( http://lbp.me/v/w12psk ) 2) you need to put pulses on the cards, with value tags on them, which means that the tag that will override the cards nearby will only be active for a very small amount of time, so when another card is placed by it later with a lower value, nothing will happen I'm sorry that I couldn't help fully in-depth because this card game has a lot of parts, but I hope I helped with the main points, also if you do need more help you can always just add me and I will be sure to help with a lot more details in-game | 2013-09-16 15:28:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
Excellent, thanks for the link, I've queued it and I'll try it later (no access to online at the moment). As for Pulses, please be patient with me, I'm only new to Create Mode, Is that just a Timer with a short 'fuse'? Or is there a gadget that I'm missing called 'Pulse' or something? Thanks again | 2013-09-16 16:44:00 Author: Unknown User |
The pulse is a counter that has a limit of one, and its output is linked to its reset, so it "pulses" an output, and all you have to do is link it to somehow activate that counter when its made, and it will work like I said before | 2013-09-17 01:51:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
Dear Amiel, If you can see from my most recent thread, I am gonna make 'huge' strategy game, empire style. (This idea is most likely going through extreme changes). If you are really feeling un-challenged, bored, confused, and want to help (Been there, done that), you could help out with the logic, which I will most likely come over some really complicated logic holes, hence resulting in the games in-completion. So down to it: I could most likely use some logic god help. | 2013-09-17 04:55:00 Author: FurryFox1 Posts: 17 |
Furry Fox, I would love to help I'll send you a request soon | 2013-09-19 18:03:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
Hey Amiel! Okami here. In the making of "Heroes of the Craftverse" we need a character selection screen. but i was thinking it should be it's own lvl, that i link to the actual map u play on. Any idea how 2 transfer the info to the links that let the lvl kno who i picked in the lvl before. I was thinking using the score since that is the only thing i know of that transfers. what do u think. | 2013-09-22 22:23:00 Author: Okami Posts: 44 |
Data transfer is done with points, is extremely confusing, and is just generally not a good idea for that, but you can have separate sub levels, each with different players. Or if that seems like a bad idea, just put the menu in your level, and it will work like normal | 2013-09-23 06:38:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |

Ya know.. enter the controlinator, enter a button code (example: O,X,O,O,X) and you gain access to something. I am stumped at making this and I reeeeaalllyy want to know how so I can have some more security and so I can toy around with it. Do you know how to make these? | 2013-09-27 01:48:00 Author: Jorel41533625 Posts: 66 |
