Digimon is dieing and Isn't as popular as it deserves. It mostly stands in the shadow of Pokemon. I however, will be making an adventure series. I published an Arena level to test the battle gameplay and need to know how to make it perfect for the adventure levels. So Please play and leave comments, and tell me what digimon you'd like to see in the adventure and/or the upcoming Champion arena.

Take note it only works with 2 or more people.

alrighty I gave it a go for a round. The rigs for the two digimon are really stellar in terms of how they move and the weapons they have available! I'm not a digimon fan as of right now but I'm assuming with your love for the franchise they probably look pretty accurate as well. I will say it seemed a little on the chaotic side as my buddy and I just mashed buttons like it was nobody's business. I'm sure you have built some depth in but it isn't instantly apparent so maybe a tutorial would help us learn some strategies.

Overall: Visuals, monsters, cool moves: A

Gameplay: C just because it seemed like I was just spamming. Like I said a tutorial that explains some of the strategy could really remedy this!

When you get the chance I would love for some feedback on my game Super Connect 4: http://lbp.me/v/qnk10m3

Thanks and congrats on a cool level

I really appreciate the feedback and especially thanks for giving me long meaty feedback rather than just a "hey good job" or something.

Plus I will take your advice and make a short tutorial, but do you think I should add in the tutorial to the upcoming Champion Arena, the Rookie Arena that you played, or just make an entirely different level for that?

EDIT: Also, you played the one on one battle, not the rookie arena I wanted you to play. (the rookie arena has 6 digimon to play as, not 2 as you said)
But don't worry, any and all feedback is good and I WILL play you level when my buddy comes over tomorrow.

oh I did the wrong one. I will go play that!

EDIT:

okay yeah that was way different lol! that is my bad. This level is really awesome. I just hopped in single player though so once I try it with a buddy I'll post better feedback! I will say now that I really like the super smash bros style character select screen!

Oh thanks! please play the intro though for the full effect.

I'm already working on a system using timers instead of selectors allowing you to have much more health, which will in turn make Up/Mp regeneration go far down and make rounds last longer. Thus your attacks will be more precious and we won't just be spamming R1 and L2.
So yeah the tutorial is a must.
The end product will include digimon raising, collecting, recruiting, city development. But the battling is always the most important part. I do want to spread around Digimon because I love it, I grew up on it. So feel free to give me ambitious suggestions.

To attract more players to my level, i'll be adding 1 pokemon to the playable roster. I don't know quite as much about pokemon so could somebody tell me who they think I should add.
Remember that they have to be on par with dinosaurs and robots (champion level digimon).

I would imagine that the best one would be one of the starters or legendaries, if you need one which is on par I would guess you wouldn't want a flying type and legendaries would probably be over kill. I think you should use blastoise

Yeah I was already thinking about him and he seems like the way to go.
What are his powers/attacks besides the water hose though?
I want to make sure he gets his accurate and respectable moveset.

Edit: sry I'm taking so long to play your level and leave feedback madman_asunder.
I went to my neighbor's wedding today and needless to say it was boring and took all day.

It is tricky to say as pokemon levels up it gains new moves. However you limited to 4 moves which is completely up to you as a player. If you want aa varied move set. I would go with skull bash, hydro cannon, bite and tackle, that isn't his best move set however, it should be easy to replicate them without them looking the same. This should help http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Blastoise_(Pok%C3%A9mon)#Learnset2013-09-08 15:20:00

Here goes Madman_Asunder.

Your level is great, not far away from perfect. The tutorial especially made it superb. But here are a few ideas:

- Changeable music is something that most levels like that have today, so that'd be a good investment.
check out my buddy: Littlebigsacbot (http://lbp.me/u/littlebigsacbot).
maybe if your really generous then you'll include my Digimon Theme.

- Something that says "R1 Shoot" that turns on when that one power-up is used might be helpful.
either way, that power is a tiny bit OP.

Honestly though, I think that you should just update your level one more time and spend all your time on your Sly Cooper Level.
You're great with logic but if you need help with the level design then there are loads of people who'll help you here on LBPC
And remember, the grid and corner editing tools are your best friends.

I will definitely implement the pick music feature. as for the shooting you should only have to point the right analog stick at the enemy pressing R1 shouldn't be necessary unless I messed up but I have considered adding in some control prompts in game so I might follow through with that .

Now that I got the chance to play the correct digimon level I will give you my feedback!

The most impressive thing for me was the character animation as they moved throughout the level! However, on one of the darker levels I had a hard time telling the difference between floor and wall and got stuck because of that. The general combat feels instantly responsive which is a huge deal in the type of game you have created!

As for suggestions I didn't really feel that movement was encouraged. Maybe if there were some type of power ups spawning on the map to get some regulated flow to the movement than things would speed up naturally. I would have to play plenty more to really talk about balance but initial impressions it seemed that some of the digimon I picked faired far better than others... but it is so hard to tell since I switched characters every round so that probably isn't a fair assumption, just something to consider.

I really feel like you could make a full game with your digimon passion with this battle system at the heart of it. Just need a small boost to make it feel a little bit more strategic!

BTW, I bet that intro took FOREVER! It was really well done!

Yeah, you really helped me realize what my level was missing thanks!
As for the upcoming Champion arena the changes will be these

- a taunt button
- a guard button
- a roster of 8 rather than 6
- Finishers (L2), can only be used after hitting an orb that randomly spawns on the screen,
sort of like the smash ball in Super Smash Bros. 3
- 1 playable pokemon (Blastoise)
- some intro changes (showing off the newer Digimon)
- a working score system (maybe points on the map)
- more refined map design
- and Etemon to announce the winner! Yay!

If there is anything else anyone would like to say or any certain Digimon
that you'd like in the playable roster then just let me know.
