Top Down 2D RPG

Hello friends,
I am working on a top down 2D RPG. I have designed a menu, characters, and enemies. Currently looking for help on how to make you go from the menu to your character, how to make 1 Player only, and design help to build the map you will play on. Any help highly appreciated.

looking for help on how to make you go from the menu to your character,
There's quite a bit of ways to do this but most are getting into people's discomfort with logic especially since it considers camera work or followers and control disabling. I'll add you and see if I have time this weekend to show you one of the ways. Basically you're going to have to activate a movie camera or move your sackboy in the invisible controlinator which he uses to control the sackbot which is the player and disable your sacbots controls so you aren't jumping around while in the menu. For my vita level I just delete the sackbot for reasons that make sense in the level.

1 Player only
use a sackbot with only one controlinator. Have the others just wait around or kill them if you are using a game camera to ensure that there isn't any problems.

Looks like the other guy will give you a walkthrough of this. My general tip is that all RPGs( action or turnbased) are easily governed by Selectors. For example, on one output, you would enable character movement or general "gameplay" activity. And on a different output you would enable the menu and menu navigation. Since selectors output is always one at a time, its a very simple method of controlling your game.

(For example, on the output you enable the menu, you would also enable the camera for the menu and disable the camera following the player)

As far as making it one player, you can easily set this in the level settings and make this one player only. However, if you want allow other players to spectate, all you have to do is create controllinators the other players will sit in.
