Cardboard Land. 1P (http://vita.lbp.me/v/f1y7f)

Sackboy is lost in a strange world and doesnt know how he came there! Go with him on his journey to get back home. 1P recommended.

So this is my 3rd level now and first time trying to make some sort of story. and I think also the last time XD making a story is nothing like me, I just prefer making a platformer so I can focus on gameplay. It took me a long time to finish this level cause I didnt really enjoy making a story but I wanted to try it once. So just tell me what you think

Just played your level and thought it was fun! I do have a mini-review right here and it has pictures! Yay pictures!

To start off I loved the material choices. It made the level more interesting as it went along and they looked nice too. However, the visuals were a bit crowded sometimes

A bit too many corners for me to look at all at once. I had trouble finding where I was supposed to go.
The bubbles had a bit of a similar problem. I felt there were too many of them all in one spot when they could be placed with more visual appeal.

The gameplay was fun and got more interesting the farther you went along but I did notice some visual things that made gameplay confusing. The materials looks like fire or other material was placed in the same levels so it would flash between the two because they weren't tweaked.

and here.
The only strictly gameplay thing I had trouble with was the touch.

I often squished myself here.
The story overall I felt got in the way of the gameplay. I feel that dialogue was not the way to go for this type of platformer.

This was a nice way to tell the story which left some of the level up to the imagination.
In the end I thought it was a fun level that was quick and fun (with a quick loading time too) and worth a playthrough.

thanks for your review, and nice layout with the pictures! I like that and I felt the same way about making the level, the story got in the way of the gameplay. guess im better at just making platformers and focus on gameplay. but hey it was worth a try something new oh and the flashing of fire was supposed to be adding to the story that weird things happend

edit: somehow the link broke? idk why :/

Ah. I got the fire part with the grabbing things but the one that looked awkward to me was whenever the "weird" section began. The one flowing material kept switching with the cardboard. Also I don't think that you should give up on stories just experiment with how you tell them. People believe actions more than words so storytelling is often most effective without dialogue in games (excluding cutscenes but the characters keep doing things during those so you never stop the action)2013-09-02 04:37:00

So I played this. It was good for the most part. The gameplay was simple but fun. The only part I didn't like was that weird part with the cardboard on springs. That part was really frustrating and I nearly gave up. Everything else was swell.

Visually I felt the other materials used didn't go well with regular cardboard.

Played it myself and here's what i thought.

I like how you had the visuals transform themselves progressively, becoming less cardboard further in. I definitely liked the look of the area after the water segment. For when all of thhe lightning and other effects start happening, I wish it was a bit more dynamic. So when bolts come down, instead of just having the object drop and the sound effect play, also have the lighting be affected, or the ground could shake a bit, something to give it more of a visual impact. Other than that it was visually ok.

For gameplay, I thought it was alright, but nothing really jumped out from it. Some parts seemed a biut too spread out, but otherwise it was handled well enough.

And as for the story, well, there either should have been more or none. As it stands right now, it feels a bit tacked on. Taking it away completely is one way or it could have been expanded a bit and made to better mesh with the gameplay. i know you wanted to try a story at least once, but as a general rule, you don't want to force a story in.

So while there were some aspects I thought could be improved, I still enjoyed playing and getting to the different material enviorments. Worth the yay in my book.

Interesting,I queued.
Do try my game too? thanks. I need feedback.

EDIT:

I have played the game. It is simple, and I am quite like it.
How do you make the 3d glass character stand up when you approach?

How to create animation of him?
