The C&C: Red Alert series

Archive: 12 posts

After posting a thread in the Ideas section about a level based on these games, I saw that some of our users here are fellow fans. This thread is for them, and those who have not heard of the game but love the RTS gengre.

The Red Alert series is set in an alternate time-line, created when Albert Einstein travels back in time and removes Adolf Hitler in an attempt to prevent World War II. This backfires and results in a Soviet invasion of Europe by Joseph Stalin, which serves as the backdrop for the first Red Alert game. Two expansion packs for the original Red Alert were released: Counterstrike and The Aftermath.

I'll start this off.
Best.
RTS.
Theme.
EVER.

The original intro will always have a special place in my eyes. I dare say it single-handedly sold me on the series

I was also a fan of Westwood's earlier work : Dune 2, quite possibly the game that launched the RTS genre along with Warcraft.

This will always be my favorite RTS series...one of my friends introduced it to me (for RA2 a looooooooong time ago) he gave me his soviet disc i think cause he beat it and still could use his alliance one.

i remember when it first plays the "Warning security breach detected..." my mom heard it in the other room and almost freaked out on me lol

Red Alert 3 is pretty BA too.. I really enjoyed it...

Umm anyone know the lyrics to the chanting in the theme song.???

I think it goes somthing like:

(stomp stomp stomp stomp)
Peice of Cake, Hi!
(stomp stomp stomp stomp)
Peice of Cake, Zeig Heil!
(stomp stomp stomp stomp)
(ROX YOUR SOX OFF)

Or somthing similar... oh well its completely aweXomE!

RA3 is huge on the naval battles, most buildings can be built in the water, and most vehicles are amphibious... even the dogs and the bears can swim... another change is there are no 1 on 1 battles.. every map you play you have a co commander who you can boss around.. but they just run their own army... it brings in alot more tactical posibilities...2009-02-04 20:26:00

well the thing about the other C&C games is that naval battles werent nescessary.. why sent in some boats when I can just capet bomb the whole area.. I kindof like the new way though... lots less zerg rushing your opponents.. more strategy2009-02-04 22:52:00

ahh thats nice... ya i know what you mean even if they had a navy your normal defense could protect you and you could just build a ton of air fields / zeplins and take them out or just a huge zerg force while your defending

Tesla Troopers are the most effective. Two zaps for soldiers and about 5-8 for tanks.2009-02-04 23:00:00
