War of the Peanuts- CHALLENGE IV

Welcome to the War of the Peanuts :kz: In this game, you compete against one another in random challenges for "Peanuts", a delicious prize which you all want. Because if you run out, I GET YOUR SOUL

Every player starts out with 100 Peanuts. I will not be adding any more peanuts into circulation, so 100 * the number of players is the maximum amount of peanuts.

You will compete in challenges to either win or lose peanuts. These challenges will be made up by me as we go along, and will be all sorts of crazy. I won't make you buy stuff, though. Again, if your peanut count drops to 0, you lose and cannot compete anymore.

As for the prize, I have a 10 dollar Amazon giftcard for the lucky winner. Well, a code I get from doing surveys but eh. Anyway, I will give it to the winner as long as the winner is American. Sorry, but I read the rules, amazon gift codes don't work outside of their native country. What will I do with it you ask? Why, I'll keep it for myselfof course, and the winner gets squat! That's what he gets for being UNAMERICAN!

Ok, let's get started!

CHALLENGE ONE

Everyone loses 5 peanuts. You're now done to 95 peanuts.

The pot for this challenge is 55 peanuts.

the challenge is the following: a test! Pm me your answers.

Answering a question right gets you one point. Answering a question wrong makes you lose two points. Not answering a question at all gets you 0 points. you are allowed to skip questions, but your first pm is your own entry.

The winner gets 25 peanuts.
Second Place gets 15
Third Place gets 10
Fourth Place gets 5

You have three days to give your answer (Monday at 8 PM). If we have ties, the winner will be the one who submitted their pm first.

By "Score" I mean for the test, not peanuts.

In first place is Dragonvaristy, with a stunning last second entry. He managed to get 5 questions right and not answering any questions he wasn't sure about for a total of 5 points.

In second place is jarr, with a score of -1.

Ryan also got -1 by answering a total of two questions, but his entry came later so he only gets third place.

And for fourth place, Shooter answered three questions and only got one right and one half right, but that gave him -2 and enough for fourth place.

As for mateos and butter, they got a a score of -8 and -9 respectfully, so don't place.

So 6 out of 11 people participated. As for the 5 people who didn't submit an entry, you each lose TWELVE peanuts for not cooperation. These 60 peanuts are distributed evenly among the people who answered correctly, meaning the 5 people who responded each get 10 peanuts.

LOTTERY!

Every can buy one ticket with one peanut. The more peanuts you bet, the more entries you have in the lottery. One winner will take all. You can bet as many or as few as you would like. But you MUST bet at least one peanut. You have 24 hours to bet (TUESDAY AT 8 pm EST). If you do not bet, I will automatically take 10 peanuts from you and toss it into the pot without giving you an entry.

Yeah, I know. I meant, even though I answered five and got five right, I could have still technically won in this case if I had only answered one question and got it right, since I'd then have one point when second place was jar with -1. (Not that I'm brave enough to take those kinds of risks. )

That's interesting with the bet, sorry, I didn't really read over it that well. x) I must've thought it was pretty much that every person got one entry that went into a random.org-sponsored lottery and the number of peanuts were simply meant as the reward, not individual entries as well. Hey, no fair. My answers were perfectly valid.

1. The identity of the first Roman emperor to set foot in Britain is none other than?nobody. One might say Claudius, the ruler at the time, would be the first, but ?technically? it was Roman Britain or Britannia.

2. The Director for the third Harry Potter film told the three main actors to act. They each responded with compliance albeit with varying degrees of proficiency.

3. The first manga star was inspired by, stars. Or rather, the common visual representation of stars.

4. The list of people who found LBPC would be too massive to list here. The number of members alone is 27,859. There is also the possibility of people who may have deleted their accounts, which may lower this number if accounted for. Likewise, there could be some subset of people who have new accounts created.

Then there are people who found the site but never became a member. At this moment there are 191 guests viewing the site. If we assume that the ratio of currently active guests versus total guests for the site is the same as the ratio of currently active members, and then we can take that of the previously mentioned 27,859 members of LBPC, 881 of them are considered active. That makes the current active list comprising approximately 3% of the total. Applying this percentage to guests means that 881 current guests are 3% of approximately 29,366 visitors. Of course, we cannot simply assume that this number is a true account of reality, but it gives a starting point. After all, LBP2 sold, well, a lot of copies, and of those there is opportunity for many of even a fraction of the total finding the site. Then there are people on the internet who do not even own any LBP titles but play on a friends or relatives copy, or perhaps people who do not play it at all. With hundreds of millions of people just on the internet in general, it is easily possible for the list of total guests who found this site to exceed this amount. However, it could also be less. With no actual studies on the matter done, it would probably be prudent to keep this number even if arbitrarily.

So that leaves a combined total of 57,225 users and guests. This still ignores the 108,444 spammers denied registration as well, which does not necessarily equate as a number of people but still could include some. In conclusion, this number shows that it is in the best interest of everyone involved to not list all of the names of the people who ?found? LBPC. Even half of this number would be unreasonable as an answer to a single question.

5. True, this is a game, and it is entirely possible that War of the Peanuts is in fact a Legend of Zelda game, even if only in subtext. However, I don't remember ever moving to Japan to play this, but it's possible I just missed that. I?ll check outside once I?m finished here. After all, you learn something new every day and this statement both taught me and was a nice respite after the lengthy answer to the preceding question.

6. Fujisajiro Yamauchi founded Nintendo, of course, to make money.

7. There is no ?else? in programming. There is not even an e. It is possible that it is coded within the word; something to facilitate decoding might be required. If that is the case, Then something must be done to make me answer this question.

8. Lakita died. Most dogs do. Laika died too.

9. The author of I am Legend knew that Buffy the Vampire Slayer would air roughly 43 years later and wanted to firmly establish this plot point. He thought it would make a great visual effect to have people regularly being stabbed. The dust effect is just because.

10. While mostly ignoring subjectivity and varying definitions of ?great?, the greatest food on the planet could be truffles by virtue of their incredible expense, or corn by virtue of the sheer amount that is circulated around the world. Likewise peanuts could be a choice because we are fighting a war over them. All three are versatile, being used in many dishes, and I'm sure many would answer peanuts. Gah I have no time for giant time periods of searching so I'll just give you what I got.

The director of HP3, a.k.a. Alfonso Cuaron, (with a fancy squiggly above the 'o' I believe) had each of the three main actors/actresses write out an essay on each of their characters. Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry wrote a short one-page essay, Emma Watson who plays Hermione wrote a freaking sixteen-page essay, and Rupert Grint who plays Ron didn't even do what Cuaron wanted, or at least that's what we can assume since he never gave an essay back. Kinda fits their characters, when you think about it.

The founder of LBPC was a user named lbp. He was also the first member, which people love to make a note of on his page.

7. In Programming, what goes with "else"?

"if" goes with "else", because they're giving different crossroads for a program to take. For example...

1. Admiring One's Failure - Essentially, each of the ten players (or whoever decides to participate and not lose a large amount of peanuts) will participate in an arts and crafts project where they choose one of the other players in the game they despise, and in some artsy way (whether it be drawing, painting, MSPainting, or building with cardboard and glue) they will craft a gruesome death scene for their chosen enemy. Alongside their art project, they'll submit a brief written summary of the player's death. The person with the coolest and most creative death scene will take X amount of peanuts from the person they want dead, but must split half of the peanuts taken with someone else, allowing an alliance to be built. Second and third place could have a similar prize, but to a much smaller degree, and there might have to be a limit to how many times one person can be chosen for their death to be depicted. (This challenge is very complex and probably would be too complex, so maybe it would be something that would have to be done alongside smaller challenges that come and go while it's being done)

2. Lost in Translation - Deep within the Peanut Mines lies a nice old fellow named Dwarf, who according to rumors, holds a secret message for those who participate in the great peanut wars. Unfortunately, good old Dwarf participated in the War of the Peanuts a long time ago and back then, they were forced to communicate through a special language called Peanut Code, which his important message is encrypted in. (basically, the language could be made up of a bunch of random characters that don't mean what they'd be mean normally like fi8$cd}[<~.) However, despite this setback, throughout the Peanut Mines lie carved riddles/puzzles in english that the players can read through and try to solve. (Every riddle/puzzle will be posted in separate spoilers in one of Rock's posts for players to look at) The first letter of each puzzle/riddle's answers will be the translation of one of the characters in Dwarf's Peanut Code message, but the problem is, you don't know which character represents your letter. Players must gather the letters and try piecing them together to find what Dwarf's code translates to, and once they do, they'll be able to win a certain amount from RockSauron's stash.

Players can submit a decoded message answer to Dwarf by PMing Rock as many times as they want, but each time they submit an answer, it'll cost them five peanuts. Players can help others to try building alliances by PMing them certain characters decoded or even the entire decoded message, but this tactic can also be used to trick your enemies into thinking it's right, thus costing them five peanuts when they submit the wrong answer.

Example of how riddle/puzzle gameplay would go.


What can run but never walks,
Has a mouth but never talks,
Has a head but never weeps,
Has a bed but never sleeps?

Dragonvarsity thinks for a second, and says to himself, "Aha, a river!" So because 'r' is the first letter in 'river', he knows 'r' is one of the characters in Peanut Code. And so on and so on until he gets all the message and starts piecing them together.

3. Two Truths and a Lie: Each of the ten players start the challenge out by PMing Rock two truths about themselves, along with a lie, identifying to the host which are true and which one isn't. Once receiving all ten PMs, Rock will compile each player's three statements into separate spoilers in one big post, which means each person will have nine questions to answer: Identify the lie of each of the nine players around you. Players will PM as many answers as they can, following a similar format to Rock's trivia. Each answer will be the statement in which you think is false. For example, let's take Ryan and say below are the three statements he sent Rock at the start of the round, so Rock would post Ryan's statements along with everyone else's.


I own three dogs.
I met George W. Bush.
I'm allergic to watermelon.

So if I don't think Ryan really met George W. Bush, in my submission to Rock, I would put as one of my answers..

Basically, in your submission, you tell which you think is the lie.

So yeah, those are all probably WAY too complicated, (or at least the first two) but I'm just throwing them out there if you feel like taking any specific elements from those challenge suggestions while cutting out the rest. Wait, what? How was I so good, the only reason we stopped was because the game messed up for you. Infact, my last move pbefore the screw-was actually a pretty stupid one, so I thought it sucked for you that it messed up for you right as you got an opening to take out one of my pieces. (and perhaps continue victorious) Anyway though, I already forfeited simply a while back, because I didn't want the two of us to look too hard into finding a game of checkers, plus it seemed like Rock was getting impatient, so the 2 peanuts is already yours, Ryan. Thank goodness the next challenge hasn't started yet. I've been off playing GTA V for the past three days, and I completely forgot about the world around me. Looks like I have to keep tabs not only on Chop, but here as well.
