Rating system
Archive: 9 posts
Remember the original system for rating levels in LBP? You were presented with 5 stars after every level, and had to rate it 1-5 stars. In LBP2, however, this was replaced with no more than a smiley face and sad face. When they removed the sad face, they pretty much removed the concept of rating a level without a review. So my point is, I think they should bring back the star system. It worked VERY well. However this time around, it would be optional, so you wouldn't have to spend time reviewing a level you didn't want to. Also, for the same reason the sad face was removed, it would only have 1-4 stars. The captions (in order from 1-4) would be "Needs work" "Worth playing" "Pretty good" and "Fantastic!". So....what do you think? | 2013-08-26 02:24:00 Author: qwerty123456 Posts: 309 |
Even though I don't like having only one option for feedback, the current system does prevent the most abuse which is why it is how it is. The 5-star rating thing never worked in LBP1 if I recall correctly. | 2013-08-26 04:27:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |

I keep seeing this subject pop up every now and then. The current rating system is good, it might need some improvements (like some critique tags for Reviews i.e Poor lighting, Glitchy A.I, etc) but beyond that, everything is fine. If people want to give constructive criticism, or offer their opinion on the level, they can do so in the Comment section or in Reviews (that's what they're there for). A 5 star rating system complicates things for no reason. We can currently not leave a rating (which means "meh") Yay it (meaning "This is Good") or Heart it (meaning "Love'd it") What's the point in giving the option to leave bad ratings? | 2013-08-28 18:57:00 Author: Alex-Raven Posts: 147 |
It's the concept of having the ability to give full, honest feedback without taking the time to write a review. It's because since the actual "meh" button was removed, you have to read through reviews to see if a neutral face is bad or not, instead of just looking for frowns. And I don't see what the problem is, the current system, if anything, allows for more abuse due to the ability to write almost uncensored reviews and comments. | 2013-08-29 13:55:00 Author: qwerty123456 Posts: 309 |
The nay and Yay scale (as I call it) is the most fair system they can have. The problem with any rating system is that there are always people who will just Nahh for hate and stuff. However even if it was being abused the ratings hardly meant anything. the reason was probably due to bullying, I think they should of put in a block button which completely blocks people, their planets and their levels from your sight but that would of been expensive. So instead they just limited the methods of how people can bully. Yay or nay is simply do you recommend or don't you recomend, Also a good rating system never is an odd number, As most people just say 3. What sumo digital really need to do something about the rating system. As just Yay is worse than Yay and nay. because when you look at a level now and someone had played it if they don't yay you automatically assume they didn't like it or your confused on what to do. At least with Nays you can judge opinions on your level fairly. Also Yay and nothing else is pointless if I like a level I am probably just going to heart, there was already the heart which serves that propose. | 2013-09-25 00:38:00 Author: Jonarrthan Posts: 310 |
When they removed the sad face, they pretty much removed the concept of rating a level without a review. By not Yaying that level and saying you really like that level, you are in fact rating that level. | 2013-10-07 12:19:00 Author: StevenI Community Manager Posts: 420 |
I'm clearly alone on my stance in this topic. XD [Thread not locked but I'm pretending to lock it because I'm not a mod and it would be an abuse of ability and this bracket thing is getting too long.] | 2013-10-24 05:28:00 Author: qwerty123456 Posts: 309 |
Yeah I like the rating system better, because it shows your opinion better. Like a neutral face might give you the opinion that the person didn't like it, but in fact you meant a 3/5, it would show that you thought it was a good lvl. | 2013-10-26 04:02:00 Author: Darthvadre11 Posts: 134 |
