Magnezia one

Archive: 17 posts

Hi there, Dave here again with a new level! This is the first level in a series that i hope to continue when i have more time.

After many abandoned projects, I finally managed to create something visually appealing enough for me to not get bored with. The result is a Level more focused on the narrative, Visuals and sounds than what I'm used to.

Description:
Employed to find, Question and "hug" a mysterious former employee who has been leaking company secrets. You're dropped off in the city of Magnezia with nothing but the artificial intelligence Pura and the sack-like heroic abilities given to you by Me. Feedback will be very appreciated!

I strongly recommend playing this level with headphones since i used quite a bit of sound.

Surprised nobody's given this an actual review because I played it and it deserves the plays for sure. The visual theme is strong throughout which is difficult to keep variety with these 'neon'-type levels, so that on its own is worth a look at. However it's the Q-jump mechanism that I'm most impressed with because it catapults you in the direction you want to go - not just a standard up/down but a whole 360 (or so it felt anyway). Usually a gimmick like that gets annoying or is ill conceived, but certainly not on here.

If I was looking for improvements I'd say maybe make the 'hacking post' things a little more obvious (sometimes I was briefly stuck not sure what to do) but that did add a certain difficulty which was needed in an otherwise simple platformer.
I'd also quite like to see a boss battle when the level is 'continued' as promised by the scoreboard because I think with that Q-jump it would be a blast.

Anyway I <3 'd and 'd because I'll probably be back for more!

Surprised nobody's given this an actual review because I played it and it deserves the plays for sure. Finally a forum review. Thank you for noticing the Q-jump mechanic, It goes the way you hold the lever, it's even possible to switch direction mid air .

The visuals took alot of work for sure, i didn't think it looked good at all after a while. Luckily, i realized it was mostly because i had looked at it for like 100 hours.

Thank you for the review, Made my day

Okay time for a short photo review! The first thing I noticed was of course the visuals, absolutely gorgeous but with that it was a bit hard to see where I was going at times, but i quickly adjusted.

I mean look at that!
Second thing I noticed was the Q-jump. A great feature that took a bit of time getting used to because the first jump does basically nothing but is very important and also the button layout was a bit different. Overall this feature was nice inclusion that allowed for a cool style.

It's like I'm flying but not at all!
The secrets were another cool little treat that made the level more enjoyable. They were hard to see but that's the point isn't it?

My two favourite visual things were the checkpoints and the enemy

They look pretty great.
My biggest complaint was that the gameplay was a bit lacking. I felt like there were only a few obstacles in the entire level now that I look back on it and also...

I don't see the point of secrets if I don't see my score.
On a side note, you're my 75th

Whoa! What an amazingly well-written review!

I meant this level as more of an intro, Hence, Why it's lacking "real" game-play.

I do not know why the scoreboard did that, i'll take a look.

The Q-jump took alot of testing since the velocity would leave you flying pretty fast. So thanks for noticing.

For the next part, I'll try to make the gameplay more engaging aswell

I felt towards the end it got some pretty interesting segments and that makes sense about the gameplay with it being an intro. It must've slipped my mind since the story was obviously continued 2013-09-02 04:40:00

Seriously underplayed stuff here. This level is so incredible, yet somehow it didn't make it onto the cool pages.

I noticed this mostly happens by highly detailed levels. This one really needs a Team Pick.

It deserves to be played by everyone.

I already reviewed this level online, so I don't need to repeat myself here.
Also, congrats on the spotlight bro! You really deserved it.
