X Y Z Axis Help
Archive: 9 posts
Hello fellow sack folks, I need a bit of help, I'm trying to add a certain element into my level, what I'm trying to achieve is, to move an object in and out on the Z axis "if I'm not mistaken", with the piston, I'm not sure if one uses the piston to do this, so I'm sort of in a dilemma. Ill try adding an image to explain this a little better.46593 so in this image you can see the objects move in and out, whether its a touch or just a timed feature doesn't really matter, I'm just trying to figure out what or how one would achieve this. If there's any one that has the know how, I would greatly appreciate it. | 2013-08-25 12:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
There's a gadget called "In/Out Mover" under the mover category (looks like a double-headed arrow). You can edit it to where the object with the gadget should be moved (back, center, front and there's also some other option I don't recall). Simply put two of them on the object and wire each of them to a different signal. The first will activate and move the object to the front and the other one moves it back. Pistons can only move objects on the x/y axis. | 2013-08-25 19:11:00 Author: Sebaestschjin Posts: 3 |
I suggest that you play through all the in-game tutorials first. | 2013-08-25 22:15:00 Author: Schark94 Posts: 3378 |

"SCHARK" I did go through the tuts but it was shown as a foot that could move from layer to layer on the z axis, that's maybe why I didn't recall that feature, so I understand why you would say " go through the tuts first " but please don't post on a thread where someone is looking for help, and is given a useless answer, I joined this forum for help, if there are going to be people like you here, I might as well join another site, and cancel my future donation to this site. Not everybody has the time to sit through tuts over and over and play a guessing game, hence the fact that there is a "HELP" thread. Anyway Thank You Seb, I will try what you have mentioned. | 2013-08-26 08:23:00 Author: Unknown User |

So now you consider my answer useless? That's nice. Now if you read again what just Seb said and play the Advanced Movers tutorial, with enough intelligence you should notice that he didn't tell anything new. The tutorial tells you to connect a switch to an in/out mover's input. The switch has 2 signals (+ and -), so you don't need to put any additional movers. Comprende? Not everybody has the time to sit through tuts over and over and play a guessing game, hence the fact that there is a "HELP" thread. Sure, that's what lazy people do. Why would you waste your time and search through all these tutorials when you can ask here and wait til someone else does it? So why did people make those tutorials again? | 2013-08-26 10:37:00 Author: Schark94 Posts: 3378 |
Excuse me... but both of you calm down. There is no need for that here. This is a site where creators can ask for help and as long as it abides by the EULA, this site's rules, and not asking for plays and hearts, just help them out and not argue. Sometimes what may seem like the easiest thing ever someone else just doesn't get. That is what Help is for. On the other hand, it also does no good to argue with someone that suggests someone should go through the online tutorials and slam him for it. Hence (and I've never used that in a sentence before! lol), I feel you have both crossed the line. So suck it up and be nice.. mmm' kay? Thank you. | 2013-08-26 10:53:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

I understand where you are coming from, and I do apologise, but telling someone who asks for help to go through the tutorials and not mention which one of the tut's it is, resembles a sort of ignorant feel, discouraging me from asking anything in the future, don't get me wrong like I said above I did go through them, but at least schark could have said "hey go to this tutorial" or whatever the case, not go through all the tutorials, I mean really??? ill rather join another site and support them, than be mocked for being a newbie. | 2013-08-26 19:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
First off, I asked nicely for you both to drop it. Behavior on this site is my problem not yours. Replying in this fashion simply derails the thread. If you have an issue, pm me. Do not continue this here as we are wanting to get you your question answered. Further conversation about who did what will have that post deleted and possibly a warning or more depending what you say. Again... please play nice. Feel free to check out the site rules as staying on topic is one of them. | 2013-08-26 19:23:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
First of all, sorry, I should have been clearer. I said that because things like these are basic knowledge (for me at least) and it is explained in one of the in-game tutorials. The first thing that popped into my mind was that you must have skipped some of these. That's why I suggested that you check them all, just for your good. I didn't even try to be mean or something, just wanted to help or give you a hint (in this case). | 2013-08-26 20:20:00 Author: Schark94 Posts: 3378 |
