TIP for recover budget in your levels

Archive: 4 posts

.... As for recovering budget, a very good tip is to take all of your objects (especially trees, benches etc) and UNGROUP them. You'll be amazed how much budget this can recover...

I want to share this tip made by my friend atheistsw. The results obtained by applying this suggestion are:

I had a level with the thermometer filled, then I ungroup all possible objects. The result was that I could recover three quarters of a thermometer bar, ie about 5% of the thermometer. This budget is very important when you make a highly detailed level. This has been my experience, it is therefore possible that in other cases, this percentage may be different, and even higher.

Many greetings.

Another great tip... remove any fences around the track that you do not need, they take up an OBSCENE amount of budget... if you are going to make a highly detailed level it's probably best to not use them at all, you can recover about 20-30% of the budget by removing ALL of them! :O2013-08-17 14:20:00

Great tips. Yay

There is another way to "raise" the thermo.
If you really want to "stretch" your thermo, you could create by using the "emitting and destroying" strategy.
You build a scene, then you capture it. You build the next scene: capture it. And so on...
Then you build emitters with this scenes and let them emit when they are needed, before the player reaches this place, when he leaves this scene, you let destroy it. Very important: make sure, the player is not able to get back to the destroyed parts. You can trigger the emitter and destroyer in several ways. For example with a player sensor.
If you use this strategy in a clever way, you can "raise" or "betray" the thermo aprox 3 - 4 times.
I created a movie in this way which uses aprox triple thermo space, but it is one level! No links, no sublevels

Oh, sorry. I was confused
This was a tip for LBP2 - wrong section, sorry
