I never finish anyth

Archive: 14 posts

Hello everyone! I'm JFM2796. I got LBP1 the day it was released, but I usually spent most of my time in creative with my brothers rather than exploring community levels and forums. I got LBP2 the day it came out and spent a lot of time starting super ambitious projects that I never seem to finish. I played a lot right up until the PSN blackout of 2011 (or was that 2012? I don't even know anymore!) and my account got messed up. I went a few months of no playing until I managed to straighten things out. Then my PS3 crashed. My Dad was able to get it running again just long enough to backup the files, but since LBP is copy protected I can't put them on my new PS3. So I gave up and didn't play for about a year. Four years of work, locked in the copy protected depths of an external hard drive!

Anyone know if the copy protect can be bypassed? Or should I just suck it up, replay both story modes again (had to do this more than once) and try to rebuild everything from scratch?

I have no idea about the copy protect thing, but I do know how to welcome someone to the forums! Here you go.

Howdy and welcome to LBPC. So glad you joined. This is really a great place to be. It's an awesome place to make new friends, learn techniques and tricks and just to have a good time. To help you explore the site I'll provide a few links for you.

The Level Showcase (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-Level-Showcase) area is the place you want to go to make a thread about your level. We have an optional F4F (feedback for feedback) system where you tell others to check out your level, come back and give feedback/suggestions and you'll do the same for them. It's a valuable system that is underused here. Be sure to use the LBP.me tool (the white bell in a blue box icon) http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/lbpme.png this will pull your level info from LBP.me and place it in the thread for you. NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW
Before posting your awesome creation in the level showcase, please read this handy dandy guide. It will help your get more attention to your thread and your level. Hey JFM2796, it's very nice to meet you and I'm saddened to hear of your misfortunes! I have no idea what you could do to fix such a problem, but if you truly want to get back into LBP and all its riches, I would recommend that you go back through the story modes. It's tough and I know from experience, but it always nice to see them again! Anyways, feel free to start a thread on your problem to get some more detail on what you could do, but in the meantime why don't you explore all the crevices that we have to offer? I hope you enjoy your time here and Welcome to the Central!!! 2013-08-15 04:21:00

Hi,

first of all: it's great you are here now
Welcome to LBPC

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. That?s really sad
I feel with you. My PS3 also crashed some month ago. Fortunately I often save my profile to an external device, so the recovery wasn?t a problem. Unfortunately I did?t backed up my LBP1 profile, so I started to play the LBP1 story mode again.
And man, that was fun! It was a great long lasting nostalgic moment to visit all the story levels again

So why don't play it again? A weekend for LBP1 and another weekend for LBP2 and BAM!!! -> in two weeks you have a good starting point, to create something new and fantastic

Thanks everyone! I actually think I may have found a solution. Someone posted a video on youtube a few months back on how to get around the copy protection so I am going to try that today.2013-08-15 21:40:00

Yeah it turns out the backups on the external hard drive are encrypted and as of now there is no known way to encrypt them. I'm going to wait it out for a bit longer and see if any other solutions turn up, as there may be a way to save the PS3 hard drive directly to a computer.2013-08-20 03:13:00

Maybe that backwardsreading is an incredibly useless talent, but its a talent!^^ Just imagine you're going by train and the train is faster then another train so that your train finally passes the other train! Then you are able to read whats written on the train that your passing! Thats great and thats only possible if you are a talented backwardsreader! Omg! I love this talent!^^

Many greetings, Jürgen^^
