Win a PS Vita in our Tearaway themed LittleBigPlanet Contest!

Archive: 28 posts

Tearaway’s release date is fast approaching, and to celebrate our new game’s forthcoming release, we thought we’d have a bit of fun with our previous game, LittleBigPlanet, and hold a Tearaway themed LBP contest!

We’re asking for people to create a level for either LBP 2, or LBP Vita that’s inspired by Tearaway.

To help you on your way, we’ve put together an <a href="http://littlebigplanet.com/downloadable_content_items/1286">LBP sticker pack</a> with 36 Tearaway themed stickers, plus a music track too. You don’t need to use any of them in your level, but we thought they might help!

<img src="http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/TearawayStickers_thumb.jpg" width="644" />

To enter the contest, make your level, and upload it as normal, but include the tag [TearawayCompetitionEU] in the name somewhere. The entries will be judged by us at Mm based on Tearaway-ness, creativity, and originality, and the winner will receive a PS Vita, and of course, the Rare Prize Crown! Four runner’s up will win some signed Tearaway artwork.

Get creating folks!  Don’t forget to check out the rules and things <a href="http://lbptearaway.eu.playstation.com" title="">over on the official contest page</a>.

Sadly the contest is not for US citizens or Japan it seems.

EDIT: See Jedi's post:

Mm just tweeted that a similar contest will be detailed for US people. Good for you guys.

Only EU? Does this mean that those in North America can't even get the pack or what...2013-08-13 17:17:00

The European contest isn't open to Italy and France, but to even things out the American one isn't open to Canada and South America. Oh great, that sounds fair enough! Thanks MM for that disregard.2013-08-13 20:17:00

It would be much easier for us if we could have a realistic paper material like those stickers and it could be tweak-able, so we can change its colors. Just an idea. c:2013-08-13 21:51:00

Well that's disappointing. Once again, Canada is left out.

Out of all my friends in LBP, most of them are from Canada, Mexico and France. No contest for any of us. Hey, but at least you guys in

Australia
Austria
Belgium
the Czech Republic
Denmark
Finland
Germany
Ireland
the Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Slovakia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
the United Kingdom
the United States of America

can have some fun, right?

It can't be because of Canada's contest laws, because it's not like this is luck and chance or anything. It is a skill based competition. I can only assume the blame goes to SCEA, like usual. >_>

I'm sorry to hear that a couple of people feel left out because I have known that feeling before (Beta-testing) and it isn't good. It leaves a bad taste on your mouth to be included while there are others that are not. 2013-08-13 23:37:00

I'm listening the the tearaway music I got from the free pack. It's nice I will say. But it does sound a bit like something a skilled community LBP2 music creator could make. Basically while it's good, it's also a bit overly simple. *mew2013-08-14 00:17:00

It's just really frustrating when the only reason for being excluded from something is because I was born (just under) 70km too far to the north... All of those European countries can be counted in for the contest, but as for North America, the only place Sony cares about is the US.

It's like the Progressive contest all over again. I shouldn't have to enter the contest under a friend's name and have the prize (possibly) shipped to me from their house.

I know the feeling. Being in a beta when none of your friends get in it is the worst feeling in the world. :whatever:

you bet your %$#

but on the other note, let's take a looks at EU contests and other cool stuff.

internship = not NA. Sasequ..(insert letters here) won, congrats to him

the vita gamejam, but we here in the USA did get the karting jam o.O

thats just 2 things, I would bet there's more, but let's just focus on the competition here can we?

thanks for including NA and I look forward to playing all entries from both sides of the Ocean

maybe a side bet would make this contest a little more juicy, let's see which side of the Ocean produces the best level ,

I meant SCEA.

Outside of North America, everything mostly seems fine. It's just that Sony seems to leave Canada and Mexico out of everything.

SCEE can handle multiple countries just fine, but SCEA is so useless it can only take care of one. :whatever:

The Sly Cooper contest was the only contest we were able to enter in Canada ever since I can remember. We missed 3 LBP contests, a Ratchet and Clank, and an InFamous one if I recall correctly. On top of this, it took forever for us to get PSN wallet cards, some features of the PS Store and even Youtube. The Youtube app on PS3 came out in the US at least a month before it came out in Canada. Then, when they did release it, they did it silently so I wouldn't even know it was there unless I searched for it myself. US and Canada for the most part share the exact same store, they just choose to remove certain things from the Canadian store.

SCEA has also had many problems with getting out LBP betas in the past. They weren't limited to Canada and Mexico, the problems existed in the US as well, but a few of them were really stupid "Oops I messed up!" mistakes that I'm not sure if they fall under NDA or not so I'm not gonna be able to be specific here. Lets just say they dun goofed, while SCEE did it all perfectly fine.

Good luck in the contest to anyone who's entering! This sticker pack is really awesome and I can see myself using quite a bit of these stickers pretty frequently in the future. Especially that cloud. I love that cloud.

That music reminds me of Banjo Kazooie, and I love it as well! Can't wait to hear it in some actual levels.

Hmmmm...seems the official contests still maintain their reputation for causing disquiet in the community.
At least this time the product being promoted within the contest has some relevance to gamers unlike hybrid car and insurance company promotions. Staggering when you think that a company like SONY with all their resources still struggle with things like this whereas a small website like Littlebignetwork which is run by unpaid enthusiasts can organise and successfully run a crown contest with a PSvita prize which was in fact open to every region and eventually won by a creator from the USA: http://www.littlebignetwork.com/index.php?/topic/21700-lbn-tribute/

Hey! Does anyone know when the contests ends in the US? I heard it ends today on the 9th, but what time exactly? I may still have a couple hours to throw something together!

I can only find when it ends for the EU contest on the 14th (8PM EDT/5PM PDT). I'm going to assume it's the same for the US?

Nice to see my ex-mafia chum, Jedi get a runner's up medal.

Cheers my legitimate businessman partner.
I (and the others listed) also got crowns, a Tearaway wrist-strap and a signed poster! So excited for tomorrow! Amazon had better deliver!
Glad people are enjoying these levels, they are amazing. All well deserved, though how mine got in there I have no idea!

Now... if anyone has a PS3 I can have to view my crown that'd be swell. (YLOD )
