Building a Computer

Archive: 5 posts

Ok, I'm building a computer, or at least looking into it, but I've never done this before so I could really use some help. I want it to be a gaming computer, not extremely high-end, but pretty good. I've compiled a list of what I want to put in it below, and I need to know if it's all compatible and if I'm missing anything.

XCLIO A380BK Computer Case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103010)

Biostar TForce AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138130)

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual-Core Processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103210)

PC Power and Cooling S75QB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703009)

G.Skill 4GB RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166)

Hanns-G Hi-221DPB 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254035)

NVidea 9800 GT 512MB Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150316)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102027)

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB Hard Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284)

LG Black DVD Burner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136152)

That's everything, now please, I'm begging you - if you know anything about making computers check this out and let me know if you see problems, and any tips you have. Thanks!

that all looks pretty good. if you're concerned about wire management id say go with a modular power supply. extra cables come off if you dont need them. good thing about that proc is that it remains fairly cool so stock cooling should be good. and just so ya know that case is gonna be heavy! i hope you never plan on moving it lol2009-01-28 04:04:00

My thoughts exactly. I'd just advise keeping it on a wheeled-cart. Easy mobility that way!

-Intensity Pro capture card

-ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 motherboard Intel X58

-Intel Core i7 920 2.66ghz processor

-Corsair XMS3 Tri channel 3gb DDR3 memory

-Western Digital Caviar SE16 640gb 7200 rpm SATA hard drive
