PS Vita and Crashes. Lots and lots of crashes.

Archive: 6 posts

Lemme just get this out of the way: I love the Vita. I have tons of games for it, and enjoy it a lot. My issue with it...

The **** thing just crashes way too much.

At first, the crashes were minor annoyances to me. I would be playing a game and it would crash. Not too big of a deal, I would just restart it. But they've been happening far too frequently recently - usually once every other day. Whether it's the Vita refuses to go out of sleep mode after being locked for a while, force-closing an application I'm using, or restarting for no apparent reason, this thing just likes to find a way to become unresponsive.

So why am I suddenly writing this thread?

Anybody who plays RPGs knows how much time and energy gets put into grinding. I was playing Persona 4 around 10 minutes ago when my Vita restarted, and I had been in the middle of grinding. I had been leveling my characters for 3 HOURS, not wanting to waste any items to save, and I lost ALL of that because my Vita decided it wanted to restart itself. Upon turning it back on, instead of perhaps seeing a screen allowing me to continue what I was doing...

"An unexpected error has occurred. Would you like to send a report?"

Thanks, Sony. Thanks.

(Excuse my anger and ranting, I'm just not happy right now. 3 hours of my time lost, mind you.)

I don't have this problem (lucky me ) but I have had a crash or two after days of use without restarting. Even then it's when I'm playing LittleBigPlanet and doing things I know might crash the game. The only time this was an annoyance was near when it first came out and there were crashes nonstop in create mode but that was game related and had nothing to with the system alone.2013-08-09 22:34:00

I suppose it depends on what application you're using. When my Vita restarted, I had been on the browser trying to look up something for the game. It does happen to me on a lot of programs, though. The most annoying thing, imo, is the sleep mode crashing - I'll put the device on sleep mode, and won't be able to do anything with it - the screen won't turn on, so I won't be able to turn the thing off or get it out of sleep mode. I end up having to force-reset by holding the power button, which /also/ makes me lose progress.

I haven't really had this issue (don't really know if I have it either since I don't use my Vita much), but maybe it's just a bug. Idk.2013-08-09 22:47:00

To be honest I've had my PS3 crash on me far more than my Vita and my Samsung S3 crashes even more so. And the PS3 crashes lock the system up altogether and it requires a hard reset a lot of the time, I've never had that with the Vita. I've played loads of Vita games, think it's only crashed on me once or twice, and I've it had almost since launch. I think it's fair to say it all comes down to the games or applications you're using.2013-08-10 15:47:00
