Relics of Yahgmi

Archive: 7 posts

This is my latest level and I spent a lot of time tweaking the gameplay and graphical effects. It can be challenging as it requires good timing and observation of patterns to make it through. Hopefully it isn't too challenging and I hope you enjoy the level as much as I enjoyed making it

There are bonus letters hidden throughout the level that give you immediate points as well as bonus points for finding them all at the end.

A few pictures :

Hey... saw your level in the recommendations area, and then found this while I was snooping around the backpages. I can't beleive it got shuffled down the list so far without even a single reply. I don't remember even seeing it posted - must have been a busy day.

Anyway, I really enjoyed your level. Some of the shapes on things are a bit simplistic, and the camera angles got a little wonky at times - but you did so many things right and have some amazing special effects in this level. There are tons of little details and innovative uses of lighting and emitters. You took simple mechanics and made them into something very intriguing and original.I love how you hid alot of your checkpoints too, and am definitely going to add that technique to my known skillset in the future

The skeleton rocked, the tesla coil ruled, and the dragon ride was fantastic. The reference to "Here be dragons" was nice, and I think this is an extremely balanced level that has both alot of fun and epicness to it.

Nice to see you 'round these parts, Mikey. It was I who posted Yahgmi to the recommendations area. It's good times, heartily recommended to all who like a polished level!

It is ridiculous how fast threads get buried down in this board. Too fast to even notice. I guess it's a long-term affair. The thread is your baby - nurture it over time. Let it grow big and strong. Reply to each reply. Remember to feed it. If it's bad, just give it a little flick to let it know. Not too hard, but firm. Just a little... just flick it a little bit.

Or, just shrug it off and let the white rapids of self-promotion flood over it and wave your goodbyes forever.

If all else fails, there's always the ol' F4F.

Really nice looking level, and the gameplay worked well too. I did have a problem with the pipe you can climb up in one part though (it kept acting weird, I couldn't get up some of the time, but other times I had no problem).

The bonus letters idea was clever, I've been through a few times, but only managed to get 4 of the letters so far. I'll have to keep trying though.
And I liked the way you used the fire to camouflage some platforms.

Other than the pipe thing I mentioned, I can't really find any other problem with the level. Perfect length, perfect difficulty, and I've not stumbled across any other bugs.

I've been away from the computer/ps3 today so I'm sorry for getting back to this thread late.

Thanks for all the great comments I'm still tweaking the concept the pipe climb is based on and do have a ladder that works better so I should be able to get the pipe at least a little better too.

Thanks xkappax I feel very welcomed here I'm really glad you like the horses as they were fun to make and although finicky at times I still find them fun to "race". Have you tried the "Funky Flyers" level? If you enjoy odd "vehicles" they might appeal to you as well (especially if you go crazy on the decorations with them). My personal favorite is a big ear on top, a big eye on front, some giant feathers on the back, and then sticker up the main body a bit I've got a thread in the object showcase for these "flyabouts" but haven't posted any screen shots there.

Teebonesy turned me on to your levels a WHILE ago, and my friends and I play the horsin' around one all the time. We also really enjoy the snow racer one. My husband spent the entire night trying to get the top score for some unknown reason.

I actually have recommended your levels in my thread located in the "recommend a level" section of this forum. I think you make wonderful "mini game" type levels, and they need to be played by lots and lots of people.

And on the subject of "Funky Flyers" ... well, i like odd decorations and I like crazy vehicles so I'll definitely give "Funky Flyers" a try.

Oh, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your skeleton in the new level. He is my favorite.
