Just published a new level called Molten Factory Escape, would be very interested in any feedback, it's take a lot of time to create a lava look.

I like the effect you got for the lava here using the water, but there were some other aspects that had some problems.

First, right from the beginning, the opening animation plays everytime you pass over the checkpoint. It would be better if it only played once. You can do this by using a counter set to Count: 1 that is then attached to your sequencer or camera etc.

When you get to the part with the three in/out platforms, the lower one didn't seem to always make it to the front layer. I think this might be because they are unable to puch the player, so if they are blocked, they instead move to the back and middle layers. One way to fix this, you can set the movers to move to middle and move to front layer rather than move in/out once. That way they will never end up in the very back layer. There are other ways too.

There were also a couple of times where I feel into the lava (I heard the water sound) but did not die. Maybe the fire danger lagged behind or something. There was also the possibility of spawning in a checkpoint that was still convered in lava, leading to instant death, but thats more of an aesthetic thing for me.

Not so much a bug or anything like that, but I would have also liked to have heard more sound effects going on. Maybe for the moving platforms or the lava bubbling, things like that.

Other than that, I think my favorite parrt other than the lava itself was the bit at the end with the rolling dangers. I think it reminds me of games of old.

Glad to see another level from you, I enjoyed playing your last one so I queued it and got round to playing today. You say in this thread that it took a while to get the lava to look right and I have to say it pays off, because the visuals were the best part of this level if you ask me. Loved the darkness of the factory contrasting with the red lava - really good work.

A couple of minor gripes though. The level was disappointingly short, I was just getting into the whole premise when it ended rather abruptly - and I was still in the factory! Surely if I was escaping the lava I'd need to escape the factory? Just my two cents on that thought anyway...
The other problem was some of the gameplay was a bit iffy - the floating platforms weren't very stable and tended to throw me into the lava, but that's just how water works I guess.

Overall it had a fresh visual style, with solid gameplay to back it up and I gave it a
Looking forward to more from you having played a couple of your levels now

I really enjoyed this. Excellent visuals combined with some great level design. A top notch platformer. The only problem was spawning in before the lava had lowered below the checkpoint which lead to instant death but it's not much of an issue.2013-08-11 16:16:00
