Kids castle (Platformer)

Archive: 22 posts

I'm entering my level to feature in a LBPV comunity spotlight episode. My level is called "Kids castle (Platformer)" and it's by the username which I use on psn "FRIBIDIBIBIDI". It's a fun colourful energetic platformer which will hopefully blow your minds.

I would like to thank @samiamiamsam otherwise known as @Velcrojonze on here by helping me and showing me how to not only post my level onto this fourm, but being a real help and insparation with all his support in my level. This is the first time i've done this before so hopefully the link and everything will work.

Here's the link:

Many thanks

Thanks so much!! I'm guessing you played my level on LBP2? If so great! Havn't played LBP" in about a year though, haha for 2 reasons. 1: My ps3 corrupted and lost my data and also my ps3's fan is making a really loud noise, so I don't want to play it and brake it, havn't played my ps3 in about a month, but I'm going to stay true and strong with the LBPV community, and may eventually come back to LBP2. What did you think of Kids castle!?2013-08-02 21:02:00

Hey dude!! Glad you made it!

This level is awesome for anyone who has not played it. A pure platformer with awesome obstacles, and a beautiful art style.

Play this level, you will not regret it!

I am a Mod here.
I didn't change your posts, I merged them since they were double posts.

As for posting pics etc, this should help:

If Velcro / samiamiamsam says play a level, I cannot resist. It is queued and looks very nice. You should add some photos to the first post to show it off!!

You should also make an intro thread so we can all say hello and get to know you as well. You could ask about signatures (those pictures and such below our posts), how to do them etc and also be "on topic" since this is a level thread and should just be about sharing your creation and the feedback on how to improve. If you had done an intro thread, it also might not seem so confusing if one of us mods attempts to help you out by removing and combining your double posts or any other thing that runs astray of the site rules.

We are simply here to help.

..and good luck with your level. I hope to play it soon and return with some feedback.

ok so I've just played this and I gotta say its really awesome! its one of those PURE platformers that I really like, the obstacles were really great in this one! only downside I can think of is that it was kinda laggy, maybe because it was a bit over decorated? and the laggyness is quite annoying when playing a platformer. but besides that keep creating awesome stuff! would you care to check out my first level ever made? Im still a newbie but i'd love some feedback thnx in advance :3 http://vita.lbp.me/v/df9ss2013-08-03 19:15:00

Welcome FRIBIDIBIBIDI!
It is a very fun, colourful platformer but the main problem with this level is the low frame rate, I think this is probably down to all the spikes that you placed. But I think you probably could improve it by dephysicalising everything that you don't interact with it, as well as that I noticed there is loads of moving parts in the level, be sure that you turn off motor bolts, emmiters etc. when they aren't visible to the player. Doing stuff like this is very importing in lbp vita as it can be less kind than what you are probably used to in lbp2.

I agree with Jack. The dephysicaliser is one of the best tools on lbpvita.

On my level Cherokee, I layed down 500 plus spikes throughout the level, but the framerate is super smooth(for one player at least), because I dephysicalised them all, and used a glitched spike danger tool on the material below them. You can get that item if you search the community moon.

I have had a few people ask me how I can use so many spikes in my levels without slowdown.

Well, that is the answer.

That's a great idea, I'm sure that will improve the frame rate amazingly well. Here's the link to make it easier to find.

Thanks jack and sam! I will do! but what is this dephysicaliser tool? Idls it the thing that makes a material dangerous? haha, I forgot the jamesof the tools :/ Also, what this about double posting? If I was replying to different posts, why was it edited?2013-08-04 10:53:00

The dephysicaliser tool does just what it says. It makes things non physical like a ghost. You can walk right though it in fact and has no properties. Takes pretty much zero thermo. Also handy as you can merge materials together on the same layer. No need for that merge tool from LBP2!

...and since you asked. Double posting is making two separate posts in a row rather than using the Multi-Quote button ("+) which is just to the right of the Reply with Quote button (") to reply to several other posts.

Using the Multi-Quote button makes it much much easier to follow conversations. The rule against double posting also keeps folks from bumping their own threads to put them on the top of a particular forum. Double posting is ONLY allowed in a level thread and ONLY when their has been significant updates made to a level. So for example if you were the last one to post and you improved it by taking everyones advice, a few weeks from now you could officially let folks know you have made tons of updates and list all the improvements.

If you have any other questions about double posting or any other site rules, please shoot me a pm or a visitors message. Do not post it here as asking in your level thread is off topic which is yet another issue against site rules. It may sound ridiculous to someone new, but we want to help others by keeping a thread somewhat on topic. For example, it helps others looking for things as they can be assured a thread is about what the title says for the most part. It doesn't help if in a thread devoted to fuzzy bunnies, someone starts discussing rocket launchers or the last football game. It doesn't help the OP (original poster) that started the thread or anyone else attempting to follow that topic. Especially for anyone wanting to start a thread about rocket launchers or find a discussion about them. I know the example is a bit out there, but hopefully you get it now.

Now to be back on topic, good luck with your level. Sounds really cool and cannot wait to get a chance to give it a go.

I tried removing spikes, but it doesn't look right witbout them, also none of the suggest ideas have removed the lag :/2013-08-07 12:27:00

Really? That's really strange it must be down to the decorations then as I a lot of stickers/decos at visible at the same time can cause lag :/ Did you try dephyicalising all the spikes and then cover then in sticker panel then place that spike tweaker on the sticker panel. I hope you can find a way sorry 2013-08-07 17:23:00

yeah I did, but I didn't dephysicalise everything when doing that, so I'll try doing it again. When I do it, I'll let you know and perhaps you could try it again and see what you think ? 2013-08-07 17:49:00

Ok this level had a really nice looking badge so obviously I was expecting a highly quality, visual level. To be honest I wasn't disappointed, because I really do like the visual style you've gone for and it's consistent throughout. Occasionally there was a bunch of unnecessary spikes (like they'd go all the way up an obstacle when it wasn't even possible to jump that high), so it got a little clustered at those points. Overall though it's a visual masterpiece, which is weird considering the pure amount of decorations and stickers you have!!

The gameplay wasn't really anything new, but at the same time it was solid and thus I did have fun throughout the level. Or most of the time anyway - the lag was just unbearable and caused me quite a few deaths that were otherwise avoidable. I'd be happy to give it another go if you managed to sort the problem, even just a little bit because there was a buttload of lag

I still gave you a because you can tell the level is of high quality, it's just a shame about the lag.
