Welcome to the Land of Monsters, where the creatures are friendly and the water is deadly. Seven secrets stand between you and scoreboard glory. Enjoy.

Big thanks go out to StimpMeister and Alleycat for logic help and inspiration. Also big ups to Mastablastya for the use of his music.

Hi Everyone. I just finished a new level. It's an easy platformer with a simplistic aesthetic. I hope you enjoy it. BTW I love to receive feedback.

The picture above was taken from AVundCV. Amazing monsters!
Just a pitty you can't fight them in a cool manner.
But I'll definitely give it a try later. ^^

Edit:

A little story would have been nice: Why I'm there and for what?
But the gameplay was fun and the artdesign visually impressive.
It also had a "classic feel" to it, which I liked. - Yay and heart!

Hi Hammertoe,

your level has been a fantastic entertainment! I love the design, it has the flair of an old SuperMario - game, the monsters are unique, I had to smirk a lot! And to me gameplay and music choice are both great! There's been no need to hesitate: yay and heart and please give us more of this kind of levels!^^

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Very appealing to my eyes. These monsters look quite cuddly and I can't wait to play this level.

Queued.

EDIT:

Played this just a few minutes ago, and it was quite splendid. The monsters were great, but not as interactive as I was hoping. Still, the visuals were absolutely amazing, including the creature design. I loved the level, Yays and Hearts all around, and a solid 9.417/10.

First Playthrough Impressions:
Your visual style in this level is second to none. The pixel platforms combined with the detailed monsters is a really cool concept. The music is very fitting to the level and I appreciate you used custom music. As for gameplay, a few unique obstacles were offered but nothing completely outstanding. I really don't think that was the point of this level, though. The biggest reason to play this level is for the unique visual style.

I did encounter a few minor problems in the more difficult sections of the level, including checkpoint placement and a bounce pad failing to activate. These were annoying, but not enough to detract seriously from the overall experience. I was only able to find 1/7 secrets during my first go, so hat's off for hiding them so well. I will update this post after I have ran through it a few more times with additional feedback

After Multiple Plays:
After I already knew where those minor glitches were I had no trouble avoiding them all together. All in all I was able to count two times where the monsters were interactive, so keep that in mind if that is what you were expecting from this level. Was able to find 5 out of 7 secrets, they are very well hidden, so if you enjoy that in a level queue it now!

I didn't really notice this as much on my first play through, but there were zero story elements, which may have been done on purpose for a "retro" feel. Regardless, the level would have improved a lot from some story.

8/10
Final Verdict
Worth Every Minute Spent Playing!

My rating for this level is a solid 8/10. It could have easily been a 9 if more unique gameplay features were offered, there was any story, and the monsters were more interactive. This level's strong points are it's visuals and easter eggs. Keep in mind that on my scale, I will almost never give a 10/10 because I believe the beauty of LBP is that it is always improving.

Some proper feedback is now in order, but first a small disclaimer. I remembered you from twitter, where you used to post awesome drawings, so I just knew your artistic talent would probably translate to LBP and you didn?t disappoint. I also recently happened to run across your older ?goat? levels and had a blast, so I had a sneaky suspicion that this level would be even better. For anyone who hasn?t played his ?goat? levels and wants a classic LBP experience, then I highly suggest you queue them now.

This level was a bubble bonanza full of fuzzy monsters, clean lines and classic platform elements. There never really was a time that I feared for my sack?s life and that wasn?t a bad thing, because the pace of the level was spot on and kept me moving perfectly. I did have to force myself to stop from time to time and check out the scenery and MONSTERS! The monsters were brilliantly created and had a great ?Puff the Magic Dragon? feel to them. It never really bothered me that they weren?t very interactive, because they were a nice contrast to the straight lines and background shapes. It seemed you were always waiting for the next ?neat? monster to come into the scene and that helped keep you moving forward. A monster back story might have helped elevate this level to an even higher level.

The overall look and feel was coherent throughout and the background complemented the foreground nicely. Besides the monsters, it felt like everything was built on the grid and that worked well here. Like someone else said, this also reminded me of classic NES game and I could see this one translate nicely to a mobile app with a few tweaks. By the way, how cool would that be to be able to create in LBP and port to a mobile app?

The bonanza of bubbles were well placed and allowed for many multipliers throughout. It had been awhile since I played a level with so many bubbles and I have to admit it still is a lot of fun trying to grab all those suckers as fast as you can. The seven secrets were placed with care and give this level a nice replay factor. I thought I did a top notch job of locating them all, but I still came up a couple short. This is one of those levels where it would be fun to challenge your friends for the high score.

IMHO, even though there is nothing ground breaking to be found here, it has all the right elements to be a contender for an team pick. Cheers to a job well done and I?ll be back to improve my score one day.

No hurry, but whenever you have time I would appreciate F4F on this level of mine (Thanks!):

Which pad failed to activate? I can't stand having a level where something doesn't work.

Thank you for the rest of the feedback. You are correct in assuming that I wasn't trying to push gameplay in amazing new directions...I'm much more of a visual person. I just wanted a fun level to play through. No story, no sackbots, no clever mechanics, just a pleasant experience .

I think it had something to do with how I was trying to activate the bounce pad, actually. I found that when I switched layers from front to back it would launch me just fine. I don't know how you have it set to reset the bounce pad system but the one problem I encountered was when the bounce pad activated once, but didn't launch me as far as I needed to go, then it wouldn't work until I backtracked and then returned to the area. It was the bounce pad that launches you up, then you slide to the left to activate the checkpoint. There is also a secret hidden right next to the checkpoint if you fall down and activate a player sensor. Honestly, it was probably just a one in a million chance that it didn't work anyway. I can tell that you take a lot of pride in QA testing your levels, which is too rare a thing in creators these days

I forgot to post this on my review, but when you get the time I would really appreciate a review of my Zombie Onslaught level:http://https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=81069-Zombie-Onslaught-(1P-ONLY)&p=1120021#post1120021
