Cool Jetpack gameplay?

Archive: 8 posts

Hey everyone. I am now creating a new level that revolves around Jetpack gameplay. I was wondering if anyone had some good iedas for some obstacles. I have a couple and could think of some more but I feel Im kind of repeating my own obstacles. Im not looking for things where you go throughout the whole map in a jetpack, but simply get across a ditch using jetpacks. If anyone has a idea or suggestion of some sort, please tell me.

Thanks!

I can't think of any actual obstacles off the top of my head but jetpacks do have neat trick that could be helpful (I think you need the LBP1 jetpack for this though).

If you emit a jetpack (Has to be a tethered jetpack) so the player picks it up, when the power-up disappears (because it was emitted) it becomes tetherless. However, if the player touches another jetpack power-up they will become tethered to this new one, it essentially of "hooks" the player.

Could make for some interesting puzzles.

you could have no jet pack zones that you have to use your momentum from the jet pack to get through. like you have to ditch the jet pack at the right moment with the right angle of velocity to make it to another section. that was always fun when they used to have the tether on the jet pack and you launched yourself beyond its reach.2013-07-25 05:38:00

I actually have that type of thing in my first jetpack obstacle. There are jet packs and pillars with spikes to your right and you have to boost up and unconnect yourself from the jetpack to get across the pillar. Thanks but I unfortuantely used that!

Hi Caliboy, heres a few ideas...

1. You collect a teathered jetpack with a short chain. the jetpack end is connected to a block of cardboard. so when you pick it up its like a block you fly about with... you could knock things with it (like a wreckingball) or maybe hook it over something and then drag it.

2. have the actual jetpacks pickup part glued to a base of polystyrene that can be pushed about... maybe a hazzard puzzle where fire prevents the player going through a gap by flying, however, they can drop in another way, pull a lever and the jetpack goes through the gap via conveyor belt.

3. magnet type puzzle:- Have a polystyrene block. On this have a chip. On the chip wire a grab sensor and a vertical speed sensor to an and gate, then wire the and gate into a material tweaker. Set this tweaker to be sticky. So when player picks up this magnet block, he can fly about at a certain speed. When he gets that bit faster it activaes the material tweeker making this blocky sticky to others, so you can pull things if you fly at a set speed.

4. on a jetpack pickup place a microchip. On this chip place a player sensor wired to a slow red tag follower. Also, place a 100% Gyro and a 99 Dampening antigrav. Elsewhere, (but in range of the follower) have a switch activate a red tag. So, when this red tag activates, the jetpack pickup will move to where the player is. (just make sure no wallos are in the way).

Hope this helps

BTW:- I havent had the jetpack in lbp2 in years.... where do i get it now

Thanks for that helpful information. Those were some good ideas but unfortunately I have already published my level. Those ideas would have been great and I am sure I could have done something with them. Thanks though!2013-07-26 01:52:00

I've actually made a level like this. It's only the second level I've ever made so it's not great, but maybe it could give you a few ideas.
