Random Magnetic Key / Trigger

It'd be very useful to have a magnetic key that changes color at random on fixed intervals. This would make it very easy to make random attack patterns for enemies and boss fights. I THINK I know what you're talking about, and I have a great idea for something random like that. Key switches on a cog, then the magnetic keys themselves on a different cog.
