LitttleBigPlanet Karting 100,000 levels! (Achieved a while ago)

Archive: 16 posts

Hey Karting-ers!

I was on LBP.me earlier today and noticed LittleBigPlanet Karting hit 119, 921 levels! I have no clue why I didn't see anything about it, I probably missed it by accident. Since LittleBigPlanet Vita hit it's big 100,000 a while ago, I'd thought I bring it up here. Hooray for another milestone!

Yes, it's a nice number, but a very LARGE percentage of those levels are something like "UNAMED LEVEL 1', 1 SEC LEVEL' or 'TROPHY LEVEL!!!!'. They have to stop giving trophies for publishing and getting a small number of people to play your creations in these types of games because all this guff just clutters up the servers. How many of those 100,000+ levels are actually worth playing I wonder?

Probably less than 10% and that's being generous I feel.

I totally agree... It's too bad that there are so many trash-levels out there. I often use the search for 'new levels', but it's nearly impossible to find something that would even pick my interest... unnamed levels or no picture on the level icon... it's kind of frustrating and annoying when you skip through the pages... 2013-07-21 17:15:00

It just gets on my nerves when levels that had no effort whatsoever get plays, and good levels get no plays.
Edit: they need to bring the dislike feature back.

It would probably be a good idea to focus on the original intent of the thread- Achievement/Milestone, so this thread doesn't get off track and need to be locked.2013-07-22 16:39:00

It would probably be a good idea to focus on the original intent of the thread- Achievement/Milestone, so this thread doesn't get off track and need to be locked.

What achievement? As we've already discussed, when you give out a trophy to people just for publishing A track and another one for getting 10 plays by any means necessary then you're essentially inviting the world and their mum to publish ANYTHING just to make up the numbers and look good on a spreadsheet.

LBPK was a failure, both critically AND commercially, despite it's incredible creations tools and immense potential. That is a sad fact we just have to accept. Nobody is going to patch this game beyond rudimentary performance tweaks and anything they can do to shoehorn LBP2 DLC into the mix. Nobody will fix the godawful online infrastructure or the abysmally repetitive matchmaking or the freezing or the pod unhooking or any one of the other hundreds of bugs, glitches and general stupidities that somehow slipped through the net at UFG HQ. There is a reason that the game was made free on PS+ just over 6 months after it's initial release and that is because Sony realised they simply cannot charge for such an appaling example of software anymore and this was a great way to be rid of the problem and simply say put up and shut up.

Nowadays the game is a FREE curiosity, the vast majority of those who do pop their head in will likely get bored after several days when they realise that the creation tools are far too complex and the tutorials far too useless for all but the most dedicated creators and the online racing is dull and repetitive with a track list that get's updated... oh, when we can bothered.

And it's a crying shame but also a sad indictment of the game industry today that such a potentially awesome title is being left to rot in a dusty corner somewhere while the eight millionth FPS or RPG is being eagerly readied for launch to a generation of ADD riddled morons who cannot sit still for two minutes before the next shiny thing catches their attention and the previous thing falls further and further down the pecking order until eventually it is nothing more than a bacteria on an ever increasing ball of excrement.

Why do I want to work in this industry again???

If you all would like to discuss the bad aspects of LBPk, then make a thread about it and leave this one alone. It isn't that you don't have your points and opinions, but the topic has NOTHING to do with anything you are complaining about.

Last warning before we either lock or start deleting posts.

LBP Karting is the best game ever made with an incredible create mode, bug free gameplay, unbelievably fun racing action and a top notch online infrastructure. I wouls recommend this game to anyone and it's a major achievement worthy of a national holiday that the game has reached the 100,000 track milestone.

There, is that more in line with the topic?

Closer, but quite disingenuous and sarcastic considering your other post. Sometimes it's best to simply say nothing.

.. But to be on topic congrats on the 100,000 tracks regardless their content.

Well, despite the whole 'trophy mongering' thing, I'm still glad that this game has a milestone at all.

Like I've said before, I like this game too much to hate it. =u=;

Thank you for dealing with the issue of posts that do not regard this topic, Jwwphotos! Personally, I love LBPK and it is really fun!

I understand everyone had their opinion on this game, atheistw. But please, since this doesn't regard to the main thread please keep a focus to the original intent of the thread, thanks!

If you have any concerns regarding anything LittleBigPlanet ,repulsor101, I believe there is a thread on LBPC where you can post your opinion, there is the LittleBigPlanet.com forums and Littlebigplanet's Get Satisfaction page where you can post your opinions and feedback!

Actually, atheistsw , I found a stack of amazing levels in my playthrough yesterday. I also used the Team Picks and the Spotlights level as well so there is so many amazing ones to play!

Last I heard they retired the getsatisfaction pages, you're supposed to report bugs and stuff on http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/LittleBigPlanet-Karting-General/bd-p/bEN_LBPKarting now.

I guess we're not going to make it to a million...

Oh yes, thank you for the link Rogar! I really loved that getsatisfaction page, haha. The LittleBigPlanet Karting level count is growing still, I don't see why there should be doubt!

I respect your reasons why you want to celebrate this "great event", but the truth is that there is no reason for us to be happy for that achievement.

I bought this game in November last year ($ 60 for the digital version) and I can say from my experience that the menu of new levels included in the online mode is useless, just because no one wants to waste time playing on "oval tracks no scenario that have been made by pressing the x button on the paver".

Celebrate the number of team picked levels can have perhaps a meaning, but please do not insult our intelligence with business strategies.
