Barg and the Underground City (LBPC11)

Archive: 8 posts

I present you my LBPC11 entry with new mechanics from me. I tried to create an original platformer again like always. In this city a Burger called Barg is awaiting you... He always help people to get out of this dangerous. Playable only alone. Sry I mord like to create one player gameplay. I hope everybody like and thanks for playing

I can't wait to see what your entry will be like; Consider it queued!!!

EDIT:

Nice work on the entry! I enjoyed the old style look and the burger, Barg, was funny, too! Anyways, I'll present you with my Yays and Nays!

Yays:
-The old black and white style was nice
-Your character had a funny and comical personality
-Some of the gameplay sections you presented were fun and different
-The music you chose was quite fitting for the theme

Nays:
-I don't quite understand how you and the A.I. interact
-I don't see much story of the burger to get an emotional liking to it
-There could be a greater look to the level with stickers and decorations
-I don't see how it is an underground city: felt more like a castle

Score:
7/10

Truly, I feel that the level could be greatly improved in this final week before the deadline! I'm not quite sure that your level met all the requirements for it to get in the three upper spots. Anyways, that's just my opinion and I don't think you should sweat too much of it, but I'm glad I could play your entry and I wish you the best of luck!

Nice entry, the scenery was good, with a rare style. I liked the moving platforms, and all... but I'm afraid there is really too few interactions with your companion to qualify it for the contest.

That being said, level contest apart, it's still a great-looking and interesting level that stands on its own! Good work!

So I'm with Avund and Bryan, but lemme just put it in my own whimsical phrase.

The level was quite fantastic. I liked the platforming, some things were challenging but were balanced with equally easy platforming... but it didn't exactly "Meat" (BAHAHA!) my expectations for the contest. The burger didn't really interact with me, he just hid behind his computer and did stuff for me. I was totally expecting a GlADoS (or whatever the crap it is) ending, where you end up being trapped and shoved into cake (My reference is rough, I never actually beat the game. Stupid 17th level) and then getting out. But back to my point...

The burger really didn't have any emotion either. Think of it this way-

"Hi there sackboy. I am so overjoyed to see you. Welcome to this horrible city."
"Good job. You made it past the first door in this horrible city."
"Oh no. The challenge of the second door got the best of you in this horrible city."
"How splendid. You finally got out of this wonderful city"
"I'm going to leave you now. I really will miss you. Bye."

It's like that one friend we all have that has no emotion whatsoever. (I don't really have a friend like that, but hey- it made sense, right?)

It's not horrible, don't get me wrong- it just isn't my favorite. It really is a good level.
