My Thoughts About LittleBigPlanet Vita's Story Mode (Spoilers)

Archive: 11 posts

Hey everyone!

I'm posting this now since I just aced LittleBigPlanet's Vita Story Mode yesterday during the late night. I wanted to give my opinion on what I though of the Story Level set as a whole.

The Story

Overall the story was originally awesome! I loved the atmosphere Tarsier made with the levels, its all weird-esque and mysterious. The puppets were a nice add to the result as well! Each character, like in everyone other LittleBigPlanet game, has their own personailty and own apperance styles which add to the uniqueness of the story.

By far, my favorite character would have to be Shawn the Brawn because he is funny and I loved his theme. Coming in second would be Otis, because I adore his craziness and the game play in his theme was the best in the story.

The bosses were quite fun as well, each boss required using a new game play element introduced in each theme (i.e the touch-homing missiles in the Land of Odd while fighting the Drill boss) and some were hard to ace, which made it a nice challenge allowing me to use strategics.

In the end, I loved how the final boss played out and the final cutscene because it sort-of connected to me - something I could relate to. It also gave me a different in take on the puppets and gave me second thoughts on how they would react if they had emotions like we humans do.

Minigames

This is one of the two things that used the Vita's feature amazingly well in the game. The minigames were my favorite part, and the 3 star feature was an add I adored. Some of those mini-games were so much fun, I played them for fun over and over again here and there every time I'm on LBP. Not to mention the challenges to get prizes and the vertical use of the vita which changed the game play as a whole. It is even more fun with friends and I could spend hours playing them over and over with people. The highscores definitely made me come back as well, I get better every time I practice. I want to see more minigames!

The Arcade

Yep, app-styled levels FOR TEH WIN! This is the second way LBPV uses vita's capabilities to the max as these apps can be mistakenly be put on a mobile other than the vita. The back touch, however, allowed some of these arcade games( not levels) to have more game play - something a phone or tablet can't do. I completed every arcade game except for one, I still need to beat two more levels in the triangle ship one, with the fuel (forgot the name). Each arcade level introduced full out app-styled levels and it was overall a nice component to introduce to the LBP-verse.

The Goodies

The prizes, like any other traditional LBP game, was a nice collection that fit well with LBPV's atmosphere. The collection felt a bit short, but maybe that is because I haven't collected all the items yet. However, the costumes were just EPIC! I loved these costumes more than any other free, unlockable costumes in any other LittleBigPlanet game. There's so much, for instance a telephone costume, A mech-ish/robotic costume, 3D glasses to wear and a lot more that I admired.

These are my thoughts about LittleBigPlanet Vita's story mode, the people at Tarsier did a very awesome job incorporating the vita's power and features and I hope to see more DLC story levels like the Marvel DLC level pack that came out.

I see your point, doggy97. Every LBP game has their flaws, but I didn't find anything too bad to post up there.

Lbpvita does have an awesome story and the levels are amazing, but in terms of level quality and generally blowing me away, I prefer the lbp psp story levels. Sorry!

Having said that though the actually story, cut scenes and stuff like that are tonnes better on the Vita. But there's not enough materials to unlock - me want moarrrr

Oh sorry, I thought we're talking about the new generation's LBP. :o

Yeah, I agree, LBP PSP rules them all. It was my first LBP so 'nuff said.

I really wanted to play LBP PSP. I'm going to get it if I can hope it will work on my vita!

I personally like the Vita version over the PSP. Its story is much more coherent (and more meaningful), and there's far more freedom to create. There have been countless times in LBP PSP where I felt like "I wish I could put a cutscene here" or "I wish I could do this thing, but my tools won't let me"

Plus, LBP PSP is very buggy. Pistons on captured objects would gradually tilt over time, and you'd get corrupted levels if physical objects happened to clip into eachother (i.e., if you tried to embed a spinning circle into a larger piece of material).

Granted, it's great considering the limits of the PSP. I started with LBP PSP, and when I upgraded to the Vita version, I felt like all the chains restricting my creations were ripped away.

LBP vita is definitely one of my favorite LBP games, Ryan Sideways!

I just noticed this would have been better if I made this post into a blog instead, haha. Oh well, it's no biggy!
