Bionic Commando Rearmed

Archive: 21 posts

Just came out this thursday on PSN. It's a re-make of the 20 year old game,I bought it and it's really fun once you learn how to play. You get different weapons and the arm you use to swing is great fun. There is about 60 challenge rooms with I think about 10 or 12 secret ones that REALLY test your skill with the arm. There will be trophy support for this soon, but there already are Rewards here called medals and if you get them then the trophies come around,it'll be retroactive means your medals will turn into trophies.

But I'm telling you this now, there is NO jump button,EVERYTHING is done with the arm and WILL take some practice, once you get the hang of it,it becomes really fun.Heres a video of it called evolution showing the 20 year old game, the HD remake of it and the whole new game coming soon.

*Theres a demo.

Yeah I love it. I had the high score on Roundabout (demo second challenge room, full game 16th challenge room) for about a day... I think I'm still second. The guy did it 5 seconds faster than me, the only thing I can think of is a glitch of some sort which is very annoying.

Anyway some of the challenge rooms are pretty tough, especially if you want to get 5 stars or wings (better than 5 stars) in it... I don't know if it's even possible to get wings in some of them.

The main game is excellent, the dialogue is humorous, it looks amazing and the gameplay is very fun. And BTW everyone give it a chance, play the demo, do the tutorial, the demo level and the two challenge rooms until you can do both of them with 4 stars at least before making a decision. I think that's what's required before you really get the game and all that is possible with the bionic arm.

And I think once people understand how to play the game they'll enjoy it a lot. The initial learning curve is pretty steep but once you're over that first hump the curve becomes much easier to manage.

Nah just when you do it really quickly. It depends on the level but it's usually about a second faster than 5 stars I think. 5 stars is generally when you do it the fastest it can be done in the way it was meant to be played, then wings is when you go via an alternative path that is quicker. Some of the levels don't have alternative paths though so I have no idea how to get wings in quite a few of them.2008-08-18 04:29:00

Has anyone tried the multiplayer? It's really quite fun. Me and my mate played it for about an hour lol. I'd love to know what it's like with 4 people.

Also, I don't see why this is an 18+ when there is no violence or language. All it means is that I can't view the high scores. Meh...

Great game anyway, well worth 7 quid.

I recommend this one if you haven't played the original Bionic Commando. This game is platforming at its best, up there with the Mega Mans.

BTW, I'm currently holding 4 number one spots in the Challenge rankings (on PS3).
(Challenges 37, 40, 47 and Secret 1)

I've completed all but 51 and 53-56 + the secret rooms (except secret room 1). The last page of normal challenges is pretty nasty.2008-08-21 01:15:00

This game is awesome. And to any one who bought it enjoy a free exclusive alternate costume for the 3-D remake coming out later this year.2009-02-16 20:15:00

Yeah it's an amazing game. I beat it a while ago on Normal then tried the hardest mode and got my *** handed to me. Quite tough.

Seriously though the gameplay is some of the most fun I've ever experienced. I'm not even very good at the game (my reactions aren't brilliant) but the bionic arm is the ultimate platforming tool.

Soundtrack is amazing and the bosses are excellent. I usually don't like bosses that repeat with slight upgrades but it really worked in this game.

Have yet to finish all the challenges with a 4/5 star rating but I pick it up now and then and play a few more.

Well worth the money. One of the best games I've ever played. Probably top 10 of all time or top 15 at least.
