Doodle Runner (by Scarybiscuit)

Archive: 9 posts

First of all - this level is NOT made by me. As some of you might know, i've been helping Scarybiscuit to improve his levels, by testing them and giving feedback - even inproving and creating logic for him. Since he'se not on LBPC, i thought i'd share his new level here, so it could get somewhat more attention. I think it deserves it.

This time, he made a hand-drawn platforming race.

"You are doodle runner, run as fast as you can through a hand drawn world and see if you can be the number one doodle runner. Better in single player."

Sorry, but because there are currently no screens, i can't share any of them with you. You'll just have to play and see.

I bet a lot of you think he'se "that guy that has all those overrated rushed levels on the coolpages". That's true. But, he told me, that he rushed most of them, because they'd get on the cool pages anyways. This time it's a different story. He worked on it for about a month, if i'm right.

The visuals are honestly team-pick worthy. It's all hand drawn, i seriously love it, it really has a feel to it, with the lighter bits in the background and the rest on foreground. You might think this is a copy of Caminos de Grafito, but it's totally not.

There are some flaws, such as bubble placement (i think Scary was going to improve that) and the platforming is a bit weird (imo). But the visuals are great, and it's definitely worth to play it.

So please play!

Yes the overrated, creator has decided to join the forum, and yes I know some people have beef about how much I create but hand on heart I always do try to deliver levels of a quality level, but still learning the basics art is more my thing but woutery been helping and I hopefully will improve.2013-07-20 21:30:00

Erm I didn't really know who this creator was (I guess I don't go on Cool Levels much, and even then I don't bother looking at the creators. But I guess for this level that's good because I didn't have an opinion going in!

However I can say after coming out of this level I'm impressed by scarybiscuit! The visuals are brilliant, the way some things are slightly blended or lighter to create a 3D effect is superb.

Having said that, the gameplay is incredibly minimal, almost always the same thing. Not saying it's that bad because the level did flow hugely well with the gameplay chosen, but it's hardly original and it does detract from an otherwise fun level.

I gave it a and a <3 though because I did have a lot of fun, and those visuals
