Journey through the Night (http://karting.lbp.me/v/hutg)

Today I proudly present to you my new Karting-Track "Journey through the Night (http://karting.lbp.me/v/hutg)". I spent many hours of work designing this track and my main objective was not fast-paced gameplay or action-packed battles, but to create a certain atmosphere which I hope is reaching you guys while playing this
At first I wanted to make a creepy track with spooky music and stuff, but then somehow the track decided not to be spooky, but kind of melancholic and "quiet", so I kept creating in that direction^^ I spent two nights making this level.

You're racing all alone through a kind of 'magic' forest with beautiful water flowers, you'll get close to a sleepy little village and also fly high up and get close to the sparkling stars :star:

Now some pictures!!!

@atheistsw: Thanks for your feedback, not only for this level, but also for Garbage Gotcha... When I read it I thought maybe I should work on Garbage Gotcha again and improve it...
Hope you don't me asking you if you had something special in mind when you wrote the comment?! Some certain thing you'd change or was it an overall impression?

Regarding the movement speed... I found it pretty hard to find a speed at which it still feels like walking, but isn't too slow... I don't want to give the player the feeling that he's driving or sliding over the ground... but I guess I'll take another look and make it faster.

Hey, so I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this track but couldn't help wishing it was a race, never was a huge fan of time trials on MNR either and I think it's a worthy track for some race action.

As for Garbage Gotcha... it was the concept that I really digged, I could imagine the gameplay being faster to feel more like a traditional FPS with a much nicer looking level (no offence) and playing this online with 8 human beings... now that would be awesome and I believe totally doable. Also, you could create a bunch of weapons and custom pickup icons then place specific weaponators in strategic positions around the level, like a slow pistol, a powerful shotgun, a rapid fire machine, heat seeking RPG etc etc...

It's the first FPS style level I've played on this game that I've been able to envision what it could become with a bit more work and variety, but certainly the viewpoint, the movement feel (except the speed) and the aiming all felt very good.

Haha, yes, Garbage Gotcha is really not one of the best-looking levels out there^^

But I'd like to keep the theme of garbage alive, so maybe I'll redesign the level to give the players options to hide and stuff like that. Also I'll try to make things look nicer, for example I'm working at the moment on an other 'characterdesign'... I try to design a sackboy without using the sticker template.
I hope it turns out to be good^^

Thanks again for the feedback and sharing the ideas you had

Queued! But you say "I spent many hours of work designing this track", AND THEN: "I spent two nights making this level". Well, I think that two nights is not many hours really. There are levels with two hundred hours of work in this game!! 2013-07-20 16:11:00
