Your Gaming Confessions

Archive: 54 posts

If you have something gaming-related you'd like to get off your chest, you've come to the right place. I'll start:

-I've never played Ocarina of Time. Apparently, in the gaming world this is the equivalent of a movie buff not having seen Citizen Kane.
-I can't stand the storytelling of Japanese games. They don't know brevity and they have no idea about how to weave the story into the gameplay.
-I think PC fanatics have some good points about the superiority of the PC, but don't deserve to see those points validated because they're arrogant, elitist jerks.
-I play old games not because I think it's fun, but because I want to be informed on the old-school classics.

- I have never played a Legend of Zelda game, Ever!
- I love some games that people think are awful (I.e. Ashes cricket 2009)
- I am too scared to play Slender.
- I can either be the biggest jerk or the biggest laugh when it comes to Multiplayer games.

- I've never played Zelda, like both of you.
- I think Pokemon is a crappy looking kids game, I can't believe adults like it.
- I have actually played a Call of Duty game at one point.... sorry.
- I agree with Sev about Japanese games and PC gamers.
- When I was slightly younger (ie PS2 generation age), I used to do something called "playing ahead". When I'd save my game, I'd play ahead for 30mins or so without saving it (God bless the days before autosave was common) so I knew what was coming later on.
- In Football Manager games, I became really obsessive about the number of goals my team concedes. I'd save before every match and if I conceded more goals that I would expect to against the team I was playing again, I'd quit and restart.

I can probably come up with more later.

While I love and play most of the Zelda games. i've never played Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask because they came out on the N64 which I didn't own at the time.

I never beat the 2 hidden boss battles on FF7 even though I've played the game tons of times...

I've haven't played a Donkey Kong game yet.

Out of laziness I only actually play about half the Pokemon games that I buy.

As soon as I see the main character is a human in a game/whatever. I'm often turned off right away.

About 30% of the games I buy, I only play about half of the game then never return...

Most games I skip the collectables & challenge missions.

I keep buying RPGs in the hope companies well try harder to make innovative stories... yet I know they almost never do...

Think that's enough for now~ C: *mew

- I have every Call of Duty from 4 to MW3;
- I believe pokemon is milked to death;
- I believe Nintendo is overrated;
- But I also wish I could try AC: New Leaf;

I play a lot of games in Easy or Beginner mode, just to enjoy the storyline and get to the end quickly, when I know that's not the "100% game completion" I'm waiting for.

When I play RPGs, I can reload a game up to five hours earlier just if I think I made a minor mistake in a dialog choice. Or if I miss a random item I really wanted.

I'm a big hater of people who use premium content to destroy casual players in games.
And worst of it, when I buy premium content, I see casual players as a cannon fodder.

Hmmmmm lets see.

I have owned ONE Pokemon game and i just didn't like it.
No final fantasy, MGS or Kingdom Hearts.
I find Halo overrated.
I find Gears of War overrated.
I can't be bothered completing Portal 2.
I have owned every Call of Duty except the second and third games.
I hate people who talk about the "PC master-race" in a non-joking way and therefore don't take them seriously.
Total war games are good it's just that they can't keep my attention or immerse me in the game.
I've played about 9 hours total on my WII.

I also used to do what Ali_star did in Football Manager except it was because i keep losing. Now i realize underdogs aren't a good choice to manage

When I first played minecraft I thought it was a horrible game, and I didn't see how anybody could like it.
I think pok?mon games were good only on GameBoy Advanced and ealier. I think they should've stopped at three regions.
I've never caught every pok?mon.
The first pok?mon I raised to level 100 was a Rayquaza.
I hated the feel of LBP1. It felt claustrophobic and it kept me from creating on PS3 until LBP2.
I have only completed a handful of the games I own.
I didn't play Portal nor Portal 2 until a few days ago.
The cake is a lie.
I invested about $60 total into the MMORPG "Pocket Legends" even though I don't come across money easily.

I still haven't finished the first AC: even though I have the whole series sat on my shelf waiting to be played.

In relation to above: In most cases, I refuse to play a sequel until I complete the first game, for fear of missing out on important plot points.

In relation to above: The only exception to this has been Final Fantasy.

I started playing Final Fantasy with number 8, then 10. I worked backwards from there....

I like FFVII, but still find it overrated and the characters hard to sympathise with. Plus I still can't get over the whole cross dressing thing....

The only retail PS3 game I have ever completed to 100% (platinum or no platinum) is Burnout Paradise.

I sometimes buy and play PSN games for easy trophies.

Ah yes, sometimes I'd do that too. Sometimes I would go as far as doing it when I scored only 1 goal against a team I should be putting 6 past!

Now that is odd. There's quite a few AC games, so that's quite a substantial amount of money to spend on games you might never even play. BTW, the first isn't that great. Just look at a story synopsis and move on to no. 2.

I only needed on trophy for the plat for that one, and that's the one that requires the stupid PS camera. It's weird that you buy games for easy trophies, yet you don't seem to care about the plats. I would've thought the two go hand in hand.

Here's another couple for me:

- I've never played and FF game, and I'm happy with this.
- I think the gameplay in MGS games is a bit rubbish looking.

It is a bit weird, isn't it? I'd actually love to have more plats.... (i don't even have a plat in LBP / LBP2...) but I lose patience far too quickly lol. So not a total trophy addict, just a partial one

I don't actually own two of my favorite games. I've only ever borrowed Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario Galaxy.

I used cheats to get through the tedious GTA4 story. I've since replayed it without cheats, but it wasn't that fun.

I cannot stand Minecraft. It simply is not a good game, and there was so much potential. Scrolls looks good though.

In Skyrim, I had a meat pile in my Whiterun house, dedicated to all of the housecarls I killed accidentally.

LBPK is one of my least favorite games.

I played lots of the Zelda games, but out of the 3D ones I've only beaten Windwaker. Ocarina and Majora's Mask were too hard for me when I was a kid, and when I returned to them I couldn't get used to the N64 controls. Twilight Princess was just a bore. It's weird, because I still LOVE Majora's Mask. If they do a remake with less archaic controls I'll be all over it.

I am horrible at Starcraft 2 - SLS10 can attest to this. I'm not laddering because I would get worse than bronze league, somehow.

I named all of my Pokemon after mental illnesses when I still bothered with the series.

I'm probably going to sell my Vita after Tearaway is released.

I've never touched a Nintendo home console, as in, I've never played a Nintendo console game.

Never played an official Sonic game.

Never played a Metal Gear game.

ICO sucked to begin with, but the HD-remake showed it's one of the most poorly aged games ever.

50% of my PS2 game collection is shovelware.

I freaking loved MAG (and still play it occasionally to this day).

I have no interest in indie games.

I'll probably add a few more of these later.

I'd rather have 8-BIT graphics than so realistic you might as well be in real life graphics

I do not prefer XBOX to PS3 and like/dislike them equally,
same goes for NINTENDO

I always play on the easiest modes

I'm not much of a shooter type with some exceptions

The Walking Dead is an easy plat, btw. You just have to complete every episode. Plus it's a great game!

In Skyrim, I had a meat pile in my Whiterun house, dedicated to all of the housecarls I killed accidentally.

That's a wee bit creepy, though it would probably have been a bit more creepy if you kept a pile of housecarls you intentionally killed!

Have you actually tried any indie games? A lot of them have free trials, you might find yourself pleasantly surprised.

I'm guessing you're quite young since you've never played a Nintendo game, or Sonic game?

What else are you going to do with all of the pointless crap in Skyrim? I even had a room full of gems and cheese because I already had 200,000+ gold and didn't need anymore. Skyrim is hilariously broken like that.

-I dislike quick-time events and set-piece action sequences for the typical criticisms railed against them that aren't worth repeating.

-I utterly despise any and all Judeo-Christian religious analogy or allegory in any game after the fifth console generation. Be it the utterly overflowing buffet table of references in the Xeno games to the messianic overtones in Mass Effect. While they don't necessarily ruin a game for me (though they did stop me from finishing the Xenosaga trilogy), more often then not I see them as ham-fisted attempts to inject artificial depth to a game's story despite having no real value for the story itself.

-I've actually played relatively few installments of many famous franchises, among them are: Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Pok?mon, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Castlevania. The list of more recent IP franchises I have not played any installment of is far larger.

-I have only made and published one level for LBP1 and none for LBP2, too busy playing around with costumes and too short on interest to finish what I had started for 2.

Playing games is starting to feel like a chore to me. My backlog keeps growing with games I feel I should play, but my completionist tendencies urge me to try for every trophy. I yearn for the relaxation of playing a fun, enjoyable game, yet I can't think of any game that I expect to deliver this.2013-07-18 11:54:00

I have a dream. A dream of a world where you can say you don't like Nintendo without being treated as heretic.

Actually, I don't loathe Nintendo. I just think they have it way too easy. "New Call of Duty game? Terrible!" "New Zelda game? Awesome!"

Let's see...

-I cried at the end of Journey.
-I never finished LBP1's story mode. Blame the stalagamite(spelling?) things at Boom Town, the Canyons. I played it again and now I'm stuck at the wheel part in the second level of Sensei's world (forgot the name)
-I skip credits. This leads to me not seeing a lot of after-credits and during-credits scenes.
-I'm not that much of a completionist.
-I didn't play The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, and any Call of Duty or Halo game (played Medal of Honor: Allied Assualt and Bioshock 2. Only FPSs I played) at the time this post was created.:whatever:
-The only Final Fantasies I played were I, II, III, X, and a little bit of XIII. And Tactics Advance. And Crystal Chronicles.
-I never finished Tales of Symphonia, The Cave, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls...well, quite a lot of games.
-Riki is the best Heropon ever in Xenoblade Chronicles.

I had some trouble with that level too, at first. You just have to know when to let go of the wheels. You get used to the physics with some practice.

Here are mine:

-I have never liked the Xbox or Xbox 360
-The only JRPG that I have ever liked, is Kingdom Hearts, and that is only because of all the Disney Characters in it
-I don't like sports or racing games (Except for Mario Kart, Sega All-Stars Racing, and Little Big Planet: Karting)
-My Favorite game Series of all time is Assassin's Creed, (even though the first one seemed to drag on forever)
-I hate Little Big Planet 1 (even though the last time I played it was probably back in 2009)
-I only like Treyarch's Call of Duty games
-I am a PlayStation Fanboy, but not the rude kind.

Sorry. It's just that I don't even know what TLoU is about, I confused TWD for DayZ at first (yes I did, and don't bother asking), and that point probably should have been worded as more of a "games/series I haven't played".

- I have been brought to tears (frustration tears) by two games in my adult life.
1) Killzone 2 - playing on the hardest difficulty, storming Radec's base with the infinitely spawning enemies.
2) Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - the "scripting" in the PES series can be unreal. So much so that my star striker managed to let the ball between his legs from 3yards in front of goal.

-Besides Mario-milking, I really don't mind Nintendo. It's the fanbase I don't really like at all (http://deinoconduit.tumblr.com/post/51360844540/gamer-rant-sony-copies-from-nintendo-bullcrap).
-I've, at one point, had two wiis, two xbox 360s, two 3DSes, and two Vitas, all because one of them broke. My PS3 also broke once, but we actually fixed it rather than replace it.
-I think the year of luigi is a load of crap.
-I think there should be more female protags. I'm a straight male, but it'd be nice to see more female recognition.
-I made a deal with my friend that I'd buy Fallout 3 if he bought Infamous 2. Since then, he tried it out, and I still haven't tried out Fallout 3 even though I bought it (maybe after I'm finished with Saints Row The Third)
-I've got introduced to Bioshock, Metal Gear, Saints Row, and Tomb Raider at only this year

Guys... it's only a confession if there's a reason to feel sorry about it.2013-09-03 11:17:00

Crikey..... that must cost a fortune!

In fairness, gaming has improved with regards to female protags. Not always as the central character, but there have been some strong female sidekick roles in the past years, ie not just a damsel in distress that you must rescue at every given opportunity. Look at Ellie from TLoU, Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, Clem from The Walking Dead, and going a bit further back, you have Trip from Enslaved.

Go to general gaming website and say you don't like Nintendo... You're going to be sorry!
