save-data error... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Archive: 12 posts

im not sure if this is in the right place, but i need some help. whenever i put in lbpv and go to play it, a screen pops up right before the loading screen is supposed to be there. the screen says save-data error, save game data is feom a newer update, check to make sure you have the latest updates installed. then at the bottom there is two options, erase all save data, or try again. i kept hitting try again, but still resulted the same. it happened a little more than a week ago, and there was an update yesterday that i installed, but still the same screen came up. i tried to play it in airplane mode and on internet, but still the same. i dont know if my data got corrupted, but please help!!2013-07-12 16:32:00

This issue has popped up periodically since LBPV's release. Considering how many people have been effected by this ( in my experience less than 5 maybe) its really hard to pinpoint exactly whats causing it. In recent months past our direct lines of contact with the devs have all but been severed and this is one of the few issues that never really came to light. We had sent in save data with this error previously and it turns out what ever caused it left an empty shell container. No data to be found. Hardly reassuring i know. In the end i don't think that anyone with this issue was able to recover the data from the corrupted source. Either a restart or a restore was needed.

The best thing at this point would be to make a backup of the corrupted data and ill poke some people in the ribs about submitting it for debug. In the mean time if you have any backups from a point that LBPV was still working it may be best to restore to that point.

I wish i had a better answer for you but from your experience weve at least learned that waiting for a new update wont correct the issue with the misaligned save data. Considering all the data seems to be wiped i had pretty much already sided with this result.
I know that doesn't count for much but it was in question.

Here are some links from our old stomping grounds. Two of these posts are from the archive on GS. ...man i miss that place..

The same thing happened to me , I had to delete it as well and my story mode progress was still there. My moon levels, saved costumes and saved pods however were deleted. luckily to me it happened when I had just begun, and no important self-made levels were lost.
I have no idea about taking the levels back from earth to my moon, I heard it's a great way of backing up your levels, but I have never tried this (probably should do that) so I have no idea if it will work in this case.

Yes your levels published on your Earth will still be there and you can redownload them to your moon.
I recommended making a backup (on PC) of the corrupted save data in case DBL11 want it submitted for debug but its not super important along the lines of getting the game working again.

If you have older backups its also possible to recover corrupted levels etc by publishing to earth.
More info on that HERE (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=78387-LBPV-Restoring-Corrupted-Create-Spaces-From-Backups)

Happened to me, too... I still have the old save game because I hoped with every update that it's going to work again^^ But it's been half a year now and nothing has changed...

Seems that many people had/have this problem... I wouldn't have thought that it happens that often...

I think it would be a good idea for PS Plus members to have an online backup as well... Is much more comfortable that having a PC backup.2013-08-07 19:36:00
