Hey guys! I've just published my new level : "Australian Kangaroo" ( http://lbp.me/v/mg2eh6 ) In this platformer, you'll controll a Kangaroo with superpowers, to search a precious treasure trough desert, and Australian forest Here some pics : http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/1b8abae43ac524c20aa51e12b1ed4496ee511ee0.jpg http://id.lbp.me/img/ft/fcd36f811da5b2d241830c311c9c73378b7af97b.jpg Have fun http://lbp.me/v/qdx0rht | 2013-07-10 18:19:00 Author: alain251 Posts: 128 |

Erm, I didn't like this as much as your other levels. Visuals and cutscenes were nice and cute, but I thought that the gameplay was pretty bland and overdone. There's only ten very similar and basic obstacles, using very common moves that aren't unique to this level. It's not a bad level, but it lacks creativity and originality. This feels like a tutorial rather than a full level, and I can't help but feel disappointed. Also, nitpicks: -It'd be cool if you had moves that would be unique to kangaroos. The moves you had aren't bad, but they don't feel appropriate / feel cookie cutter. It feels like a missed opportunity for hopping mechanics. -Authentic Australian scenery could have been really cool. So, it's not a bad level. It just seems rushed and the lack of creative moves and obstacles are a let down, especially after Fast Ball. However, a sequel with more substance and originality would be great. All of the basics are done well here, branch out a bit more and see what happens. I'm looking forward to the next installment if there is one. | 2013-07-10 20:53:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |
Hi! Wow, loved this level! The animation intro was a cool touch - gave me a little giggle before the level started, which I always appreciate. It's nice to have my mood lightened when the weather is this icky, and I'm on the back of a hard days' work, lookin after the family, doin mah paperwork and being all boring and grown up..... I digress. The jump animation was a TOUCH on the slow side, it felt like it could have been a little quicker and more responsive, but I rarely missed jumps ahead of me so it was functional, just a little slow. I did love the flying animation & mechanic, really cool idea By the time I got to R1, I was starting to lose track of what moves I had lol. I have nothing against having a lot of controls in a game, but when they're all put into one level it can be a little difficult to learn the ropes, if you know what I mean? the pacing is a bit awkward as you only have the space to practice once before you're on to the next move, and there aren't any move combos, which I expected early on (dash - fly or punch - jump for example) Granted, these combos come in a little later, but it takes a while to get there. And it left me with the feeling of "Oh, that was the tutorial. Time to move on to the actual level then!" - Not a major sticking point really, just an observation Scenery is very cool in the jungle - love all the colour changing leaves and whatnot! Overall, I really liked this level as an intro - but it ended way too soon - I want moar! Moar kangaroo! Moar punching! Moar flying! Puzzles! Platforming! Cutscenes! Ahem. Basically, so I don't scare you too much, whenever I say I want moar of an LBP level, it means I see the potential - so great job, now you have the assets in place, please, please consider making a full platforming level with this - you've got a really cool idea here that it would be a shame to waste Excuse the rambling. It's very hot here and I have no lollies. Boo. | 2013-07-10 21:01:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
Thanks for your comment bonner and riarles Yes, I see what you wanna mean by "tutorial", this is very simple and short, there isn't lot of gameplays in the whole level this is true. I wanted to experiment a platformer with something else than a sackboy, I thought it would be quite original and fun. I'll maybe do another level using this kangaroo, longer, with nice gameplay elements and combos. I'll certainly do it in one only theme (not Desert+forest , it took me too much thermo...). | 2013-07-10 21:34:00 Author: alain251 Posts: 128 |

I played this level just recently and I was very interested in the whole design of it! I thought it was amazing, biut throughout the level I felt there were some things missing! In the end here are my Yays and Nays! Yays: -The animation of the whole level was very well made! -The scenery didn't feel to out of place -The design of the level was simple -The controls/actions for the kangaroo were useful Nays: -There was a lacking amount of challenge -At time it felt redundant -The logic could be improved to make movements/actions more fluid -I personally feel that the level needed a deeper story with more length Score: 8/10 | 2013-07-11 15:39:00 Author: Bryan_Zuckerberg Posts: 874 |
